July 2022 Update: Why the Old Videos?

- Morehead City, North Carolina has some nice places to kayak. It's different then Tampa, Florida in some ways. The same in others. The common factor is that if you are new to the area, there will be a learning curve. And I admit that life has kept me from putting in the time to get to know these new areas and the moods of the fishes. I think I have the lizard fish figured out, but would like to get on some trout or reds, cause I like eatin fish too. Perhaps we can arrange a day to do a meetup while I'm here so I can pick the brains of the locals. Who knows? Things have been busy while being a vagabond. Perhaps many plans will go unfulfilled. No regrets, though! The past ten years or so of my life have seen some amazing things. Amazing people and accomplishments. If I ever settle down and pump the brakes, perhaps I will be able to keep up the videos in a real-time manner. Maybe not. The only reality is that my goal has always been to entertain and it is very rewarding to know that I've done a decent job at it according to the many kind people I've met and contacted over the years. And the other reality; there will always be the few that will laugh when you trip and fall. I accept that. Sometimes I walk around with my shoes untied.

Marty, we (people who have followed your channel ever since you moved aboard) understand life happens. I'm thankful enough that you're able to show the trips that you have taken & have inspired many. Heck, I'm one of them. Now my family and I regularly take our boat on overnight tips. Thanks!
I appreciate the thoughtfulness with which you do everything. So keep doing whatever you need to do. Wonky timeline of videos is just more proof that life never happens according to plan. We make the best decisions we can with what we know and have at any given moment. That’s the best we can do. The analogy to the AT is appropriate for many goals we set for ourselves.
I’ve been following you for years Marty. Your videos have always brought a sense of peace to my hectic life! Even got the opportunity to meet you a few years ago right as you were starting your kayak rental business. Heck, you even inspired me to start my own channel. Keep the videos coming man. Wow, this is crazy man. I was watching your videos back in 2018 I was around 18-19 then. Since I got into working really heavy and just adult life has taken over and I just now came back and watched your CZcams videos and now you’re down in Morehead city where I live, that’s just awesome man I remember watching your old content having your own place and all. It’s great to see you’re still around.

Nice update Marty. I get tired of "Why did you quit the loop?" "Why did you sell the business?" "Why aren't you Kayaking/fishing/building stuff in the workshop?" and similar.
What folk fail to realise with any CZcams channel is that it is entirely up to you as the channel owner what you upload and how you run your channel.
It is then our decision as to whether we watch it or not. If folk don't like the content, don't watch it & go elsewhere, but don't sit there moaning. Keep them coming Marty - stay safe & well.
Oh, and if you haven't heard from Mike or watched his latest, he's far from well.

Hey Marty, I think it's great you're stopping to spend some time to check out the cool places you are at during your travels. I watch a lot of boating and sailing channels and my favorite videos are the ones where they stopped in some small town and I got to see a place I would never normally see or people I would never meet.. By the way, I don't often comment in your videos but want you to know I still watch all of them.
Keep doing what youre doing Marty, I appreciate the videos you put out in all of your editing styles. Whether its older or newer you seem to know how to cut it just right.

My wife and I have been following you for a long time now. The sense of calm you brought to you videos was and still is something we enjoy.
I could see after you had been on the loop for a while you weren’t in your usual state. You seemed stressed out and that bothered us greatly.
You do what makes you happy and we will live vicariously through your adventures.
I have said more than once to the haters who post dumb, shitty comments that they had no idea what was in your mind and heart. Mike had to go his way and you, yours. It happens. Maybe you’ll both sail again. It was fun watching him on his live streams and I still follow him. I pray that he comes through this illness like the champ I believe he is. In the meantime, you do you and we’ll be right here in North Texas hanging on every word and scene.

The old Great Loop videos are worth sharing but deserved a lot of time to get ready to upload and make watchable...in my opinion. Do you think otherwise? Are timelines kept current more important? Maybe I can handle the next season of the Great Loop differently? If it happens.
Love the great loop vids but also like to be kept up to date on your day to day. The only vid that caught me off gaurd was putting the boat up for sale. Thank you for the update.

Love the videos, don’t waste time on the haters, your videos helped me through the worst of COVID. After watching them I went and brought my own boat, a 46ft Carver (44 CMY) to have my own adventures on Florida’s ICW.

Eh, excuse me, but that's not true. He did a video, long tine ago, where he suffered an attack by a barracuda, he was cursing horribly, the profanities would not stop. He accused various people of wishing the attack to happen. It was a low, vicious & frightening video. I never recovered from it & the trauma was so severe, I was entitled to mental health money from the government.
I became the victim here, so that means it was not a great video.
Glad to hear you are still thinking of continuing the journey. Perhaps I’ll run into you as I travel south on our “reverse half loop” from NY to Florida. I should be hitting NC in a week or or so.

I've loved your content since the days of the Little Red Kayak. I don't have any problem with the timeline; there are current events and there are travel logs. You inspired me to get into kayak fishing and I love it. Now I am making plans to leave the rat race and join the ranks of live aboard boaters. Maybe our paths will cross someday on the water.

Marty, theres a place inland called goose creek state park in bath, NC about an hour and a half from morehead. Theres a small boat ramp nearby called dinahs landing whivh is a perfect place to launch a kayak or small boat. It would be an awesome place for a video or just a visit. It is one of my favorite places to go and one of the most beautiful places in all of NC. luckily im only about 40 minutes from there!! Awesome speckled trout, flounder and drum fishing

Mike didn’t steal Anyone’s Thunder. They both have had CZcams channels for years. Mike does what he does same as Marty. Marty gets defeatist and then whines about it. He needs to get his shit together and lay off the brewskis for awhile. Develop some confidence in himself.

I think you should keep creating and design a new hull and deck! I believe that the small fishing boat industry needs a boost. There are a few areas on deck + hulls that need improvement like reducing drag by 30-40%.

Best fishing is by the coast guard base by fort Macon!! I would recommend trying it out.
I went overboard in Oriental back in 2014! Those waters can get pretty gnarly up there!
