I was in the kayak one windy day, same scenario as you, and I was looking for a rock but LUCKILY found a large monkey wrench!! it wasn't functional anymore as a tool, but it still serves as an anchor at a new pond I fish at. Thank you for picking up trash and keeping our beaches clean and keep up the amazing videos!!
First thing I thought when you asked, "What was I forgetting?" was your doggies. Always enjoyable watching your easy going nature...and I enjoy a beer or two, too. Cheers!
Good man for cleaning that garbage. I always do the same. Probably cleaned more garbage off the beaches than all the social justice warriors on earth combined.
Man I respect the calm way that you narrated it. Also a good reminder that you don't need the biggest or baddest boat to go out fishing, not it will hurt to have one.
you're always such a resourceful person I can always count on learning something new when I watch you. thank you for the helpful tips and knowledge you bring.
Dude, I just wanted to say that I really enjoy your videos. You have a good, fun attitude and appreciate what I see many take for granted. Keep doing what you do and enjoy life
Love it.....great little video Marty,it is starting to feel like the olden times of great videos with you,a small craft of some kind and a fishing rod with a little DIY [the anchor] as well. Fantastic viewing for all and its great to see you relaxed and happy with what you are doing. I love it and so do thousands of others..keep it up my friend. I feel there are going to be some AMAZING adventures in 2017.
I love watching your fishing videos. When I first subscribed I didn't have a kayak and watching your videos convinced me to get one. Now I'm hoping I can start posting fishing videos. Thank you for the inspiration.
Thanx for another insightful vid! Might I suggest having a checklist. I tend to be forgetful as well, especially since I've been on pain meds, I made myself several checklists for certain occasions. 1. Local fishing 2. Distant fishing/ traveling to fish. 3. Tools needed for various jobs. Ect. These help, but I tend to forget little things, then I have to pay the " I'm an Idiot" tax and buy whatever when I get there. C U next vid.
Here in West Virginia riverbanks are so littered up it's impossible to make a dent in the problem without a good bit of manpower, but I always leave with more than I arrived with. If everyone did that, it would be cleaned up in no time.
You deserve much for views then you have zoffinger. You are the most "real" person that I've ever watched on CZcams and you only do what you love doing which is amazing. Loved the underwater shots in this video. Have a great day!
DARN MARTY!!!! you got me again. Last year I see your Catch 120 vid and it makes me go buy one ( love it :)). NOW you post this vid with the Bass Raider 10e and I like the way it looked and handled so much that I just went and bought one today! Even nicer in person. I see loads of ways to mod this baby. Pelican was smart sponsoring you! Keep them vids coming. :)
I always make it a point to clean up all the bobbers/hung up fishing rigs when I go out in the kayak. Makes for a cleaner place and I occasionally end up with a few nice bobbers/tackle. I work in a metal shop so I used a smaller piece of steel tubing as an anchor. Love your channel and mindset. Keep up the great work !
Great video. Really enjoy your videos. I know the feeling of leaving stuff behind. LOL. Been there. I'm thinking about making a written checklist that covers everything. I would then before every trip just go down the list asking myself "do I need this" for this trip. Make it bomb proof. Love your little humble boat!!
Well done.I really enjoy your videos and I appreciate how much work you put into each of your videos.I do know how much time it takes to make these videos as I do it as well.Looking forward to the next one.
nice to see people doing good things for the environment still wish I would've took my ass down to cockroach bay to have the pleasure of a simple handshake with u Marty tight lines brother
if everyone just clean a little bit, the world would be a better place for everybody. not just for this generation, but for all the generations to come. keep the video coming Marty, great to see you on the water more often now.
where u fishing out of it dig ur videos man. I'm a Navajo Indian and I really appreciate u taking care of mother earth. look good forward to more videos.
dang thats a big puffer! i once had that same problem that i forgot my anchor but unlike you found what you needed for an anchor, i instead found 2 reusable shopping bags from walmart (blue cloth like bags with exaggerated long grab loops) and made them into drift socks and man that worked great! i now have a better drift sock but when the tough gets going the tough find a way lol. btw thanks for picking up trash thats not left behind by you, it means alot to some people that you care to make a difference and that is important to some. as long as someone cares about it, don't mater if its one person or the whole world, it still makes a difference. 👍
Lol, those little boats are cool. I have an 8 foot version that bass pro makes. I hardly ever use it anymore... not since getting my pelican catch 120 lol
just remember a once and old favorite quote " A bad day of fishing is still way better than a good day at work " . also a cold beer is packed with a lot of wonderful vitamins.
*Marty I think you should be the subject for a Jimmy Buffet song (a carefree 'saltwater spirit' who cares for the environment (and who likes an occasional beer))*
Congractulation for your video and about your kayak. I've never seem one like that. Looks like a little boat. I loved it. Here in Brazil wd don't have yak like this.
my boaat got stolen. I had a 20hp yamaha with a g3 1448. It hurts when i see someone on the water catching fish lmao. keep up the amazing work marty! (at least insurence covered it)
although ive never personally used an improvised anchor, i have heard that you can make an anchor out of rocks and a mesh bag. on the other hand, i have found out with personal experience that Gatorade bottles (20 oz and 28 oz) make great leader and rig spools. i keep maybe 10 or so in a 5 gal bucket for quick access. it saves time by not having to re tie an entire rig on the spot. although i dont think it'll work well with lures unless you tie a snap between the lure and the leader
man ol man, I appreciate you telling the story bout the guy from New Zealand. I just saw his movie. What a gold nugget. from home made pistons, ground up dog balls, nitroglycerin, and shoe polish on wheels to 200+ mph. a record at that time. your point is to follow your dreams from, so to speak, in my words, a dinghy to a yacht and have fun. thx bunches
ahhhhh wind noise so many things to remember when filming great vid budd your v# 1 fan from down under Bars massive puffer luv the cleaning up i do the same thing luv u for doing that mate thats why i luv u mate great anchor idea just like the first vid i saw of u poor mans kayak loved it great therapy great vid see u mate
I always carry a dry bag with a beanie hat, gloves, set of clothes, socks, underwear and dry shoes, I took all that out and filled dry bag with sand and rocks and tied my launching rope to it. It worked really good.
Ive been bass fishing where Ive broken off numerous times and have resorted before to picking up rusty old hooks to get the job done if the fish or lake suck up all of my tackle. Good to know someone wont step on one at the shoreline.
I made the same mistake of forgetting my anchor fishing from a canoe in Dunedin near Honeymoon Island and the wind was annoyingly unhelpful. I pulled over and found a good sized barnacle covered rock and made an anchor. I always carry a good 20-50' feet of line in a stash in the car, canoe or tackle bucket so it saved the day..
Hey zoffinger, I'm thinking of getting a bass raider myself but I went to a local place here in San Antonio that has them and felt that the material was not as sturdy as I thought. Did you do anything to your boat out of curiosity?
Great vid! How much does it cost for the boat and motor set up you got? Will it hold two people? Maybe you already told people but I missed it if you did. Thanks Jay.
ive used a big stick before to jab it into the muddy bottom and hold me still while fishing! works great and can use it to push you around the flats alsO!
Nice Video Marty, where are you boating out of? I'm an Ohio guy but will have my yak in Florida on St. Joseph bay next week, maybe we could get into a mess of reds
I once used plates like the weights that you put on a barbell. But it wasn't good enough I forgot to bring some for the front of the boat so I was spinning around in circles😂
because i don't like carrying the weight of an anchor to the water, I sometimes bring a cordura bag (thrift store) that i fill with sand or rocks just before put in. I also keep it at the nose of my canoe when I am solo paddling from the back . MUCH more stable in the wind that way. (less weather-vane-y) quieter than an anchor too.
Last summer I found a small starter motor (maybe off of a Jet Flea, err... Jet Ski) and used it as an anchor for a two day kayak trip. I discarded it at the boat ramp's trash can.the starter kida wanted to roll a lot, so it wasn't that good of an anchor.
This man is so dedicated. He went onshore, placed a camera, and went back offshore just to get the shot of him coming onshore. Twice!
Beefy Chips he's got a lot of patience for that. I don't! 😂
Beefy Chips check out Survivorman if you like that technique.
Marty is the greatest fisherman on youtube, i have never been unsatisfied with any of the videos or messages he presents to us. Thanks for everything
Forgets lunch and anchor, remembers beer... Priorities!
sk8rdad hell yeah
Marty is the Bob Ross of fishing
Truman Douglass omfg this is so accurate. i literally watched four hours of this stuff last night
He is addicting that's for sure! hope he does more videos at this stage of the game...
Truman Douglass they call him "fish ross" :-)
I was in the kayak one windy day, same scenario as you, and I was looking for a rock but LUCKILY found a large monkey wrench!! it wasn't functional anymore as a tool, but it still serves as an anchor at a new pond I fish at.
Thank you for picking up trash and keeping our beaches clean and keep up the amazing videos!!
Every one of Marty's videos is so relaxing... maybe it's his voice but it sells! Nothing but a bright future coming his way!
Chris W lol nice man! it's awesome how many other peoples mistakes you can fix just by being thoughtful
Chris W there should be programs where they make anchors/floats out of old bottles for boaters to use
Man I respect the calm way that you narrated it. Also a good reminder that you don't need the biggest or baddest boat to go out fishing, not it will hurt to have one.
your chanel is a perfect mix of kayak ,boating, nature worship, and you definitely get props for ingenuity. keep it up Marty
I found this to be very relaxing. Killer view from shore.
As always ...a pleasure to watch your videos Marty!
you're always such a resourceful person I can always count on learning something new when I watch you. thank you for the helpful tips and knowledge you bring.
Dude, I just wanted to say that I really enjoy your videos. You have a good, fun attitude and appreciate what I see many take for granted.
Keep doing what you do and enjoy life
You Crack Me Up Marty And We All tend to Forget To Bring Things Out Fishing Lol
You should get a fish tank for your boat, just little cool things you catch you can keep in it
Tebzey a live well or a bait box
Tebzey sounds like a recipe for disaster. but im sure marty would be able to figure it out anyway
Tebzey Needs constant power which he does not have.
Love it.....great little video Marty,it is starting to feel like the olden times of great videos with you,a small craft of some kind and a fishing rod with a little DIY [the anchor] as well. As a pilot, I'm used to using checklists all the time. I keep a laminated "Kayak Fishing Checklist" and use it everytime I go out.
I think your videos are the best thing on CZcams, I love your work for many different reasons, keep it up!!
Thanx for another insightful vid! Might I suggest having a checklist. Low hanging trees can be like a tackle store :^)

nice to see people doing good things for the environment still wish I would've took my ass down to cockroach bay to have the pleasure of a simple handshake with u Marty tight lines brother
Amazing stuff man. Nothing better than enjoying the bay area.
I discovered this channel last night while browsing for fishing and life videos and came across zoffinger. I'm now subscribed.
I've used a piece of wood for a drift sock. It didn't grab the bottom but it slowed me enough to get some fishing done.
Great video Marty. Keep them coming.
your a real inspiration for me
keep inspiring people like you always do
Dude love your videos, reminds me of when i was a kid living in Cocoa, fishing everyday on the Indian River
if everyone just clean a little bit, the world would be a better place for everybody. not just for this generation, but for all the generations to come. keep the video coming Marty, great to see you on the water more often now.
I love your videos keep it up mate 🎣🎣
You are definitely living "La Dolce Vita". Nice video
where u fishing out of it dig ur videos man. I'm a Navajo Indian and I really appreciate u taking care of mother earth. look good forward to more videos.
Loving the consistency Marty!!!!!!
In big winds I tend to tie off my canoe to a overhanging tree or sunken log.
love that boat! How easy is it to paddle? I've been enjoying your videos for a few years now, and every time they inspire me to get out on the water.
great video marty, just wish there was more people out there that would clean up rubbish like that
dang thats a big puffer! i once had that same problem that i forgot my anchor but unlike you found what you needed for an anchor, i instead found 2 reusable shopping bags from walmart (blue cloth like bags with exaggerated long grab loops) and made them into drift socks and man that worked great! i now have a better drift sock but when the tough gets going the tough find a way lol. btw thanks for picking up trash thats not left behind by you, it means alot to some people that you care to make a difference and that is important to some. as long as someone cares about it, don't mater if its one person or the whole world, it still makes a difference. 👍
I just used a broom as a paddle last week, towed the kayak on the boat & forgot my paddle on the dock lol great videos man!
Lol, those little boats are cool. I have an 8 foot version that bass pro makes. I hardly ever use it anymore... not since getting my pelican catch 120 lol
I liked this little video so like me and yet so enjoyable...just a good outing to enjoy...
so underrated for how awesome this channel is
Those fish grips work great to quickly tie up to a branch or structure... I use mine offshore for that...
Your vids are the best!
just remember a once and old favorite quote " A bad day of fishing is still way better than a good day at work " . also a cold beer is packed with a lot of wonderful vitamins.
And good bacteria and calories!
When I forget an anchor I'll just run up into some weeds. Or stick my paddle into the mud. Others than that I'm out of luck!
*Marty I think you should be the subject for a Jimmy Buffet song (a carefree 'saltwater spirit' who cares for the environment (and who likes an occasional beer))*

nice video you inspired me so much that I'm Gona start my channel soon!!!
hey Marty love your videos keep them up . can u come down t9 Miami and fish for peacock bass with monster Mike.
I have been fishing along railroad tracks here in wv and found steel plates they discarded there flat and heavy perfect for an anchor in a pinch.
As long as you caught a fish and brought the beer, it should be considered a good day!
fixed the lower on my 72 Johnson ooo it ran sweet. didn't catch anything but crab fun though. great videos keep up the good work.
I always carry a dry bag with a beanie hat, gloves, set of clothes, socks, underwear and dry shoes, I took all that out and filled dry bag with sand and rocks and tied my launching rope to it. It worked really good.

awesome video man. where can I get a Zoffinger decal for my kayak?
poundtown23 _ same here
poundtown23 _ me too
AllThingsHelpful _ try messaging him on facebook, that was how i got onto him
I think he'll put one on a kayak if you buy it from him.
Thanks Jay.
The Bass Raider 10e is about $600 new for just the boat. Holds two people no problem.
That is funny, I did the same few weeks ago because I still don't have an anchor and forgot the stick I use to anchor on flats )))
We were out 2 weeks ago and caught nothing but puffers except one 24" jack. THAT was fun.
I once forgot my hook sharpener. I found the perfect rock that had enough grit to use.
ive used a big stick before to jab it into the muddy bottom and hold me still while fishing! works great and can use it to push you around the flats alsO!

Hey zoffinger iam wondering how do you make your money and also your videos are awesome
I just bought a fishing kayak. Any tips?

That's some resourceful engineering.
I've used a tire iron for a kayak and a jack for a canoe. Whatever it take to get on the water!
Where do you fish Marty? I live in St Petersburg. Would like to meet you someday. I've been following your adventures for a long time now
Hey im coming up to florida next week from canada and i was wondering if it was possible to meet up and go fishing together! Great video keep it up👍🏻
cool boat! nice episode once again😁✌🍀
Used a stub axle from a golf cart. Worked so well, I kept using it.
Use a heavy lure to grab bottom with an extra pole and use to anchor in place. Works great on a yak
I love this man he picks up garbage off the bench he is inspiring lets make his channel gro follow him
Well......it seems you remembered your beer. LOL
I got a 10 gram sinker on my secondary rod and i flung the sinker into the sand below me and tied my rod to the boat. Held it in place pretty neatly.
I’m just glad to know I’m not the only forgetful fisherman!
Awesome. A fishing video... it seems like along time.
Brake rotors make great anchors.
i love his content it is so well made
Great video! nice shots and editing. Liked!
Hi there! I wanted to ask you, what is the fish in season this time of year? I am in Sarasota.....thanks!
Ive harnessed up a large rock and used it as an anchor when my real anchor busted off while sturgeon fishing.
