I had the pleasure of speaking with @dr.sergiovanogalvan6394 earlier this year, and he gave us some top-notch information regarding the safest protocol for stopping hair loss. No, it's not 'bludflow' or any other nonsense. It's tried and tested dutasteride. In a study published in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, they tested various dosages of dutasteride and finasteride. They found that two capsules of 0.5 mg of dutasteride were as effective as 1mg daily of finasteride.
Furthermore, Dr. Vańo states that in his practice, they observed that patients who suffered from side effects with 1mg daily of finasteride did not have any side effects on low-dose oral dutasteride. Low-dose oral dutasteride is safer and as effective as finasteride in their practice.

Fin 1mg 3 times a week, or Dut 0.5 mg to times a week. Both work as well as every day. Fin 1 mg has a half life of around 2 to 4 weeks, Dut half life of around 4 to 6 months. It’s in the scalp tissue that we measure, not in the blood.
How to keep it as Maintenance therapy ? How many days?.
Can you send a linl to the research about 2 time dutasteride a week?
It's interesting. 8 years of Finasteride zero side effects. One cap 0.5mg DUT/weekly added and a noticeable numbness-ache in a certain area for months. After 6 months I chose life balance and stopped this pharmaceutical. I was very surprised by this effect tbh. Everything is case dependant.
Indeed, everything is case dependent.
Are you sure the Ache wasnt from your boyfriend slapping your ass
I was the complete opposite. Very marked side effects on 1mg/day finasteride, none whatsoever on 2x 0.5mg/week dutasteride. With greater doses of dutasteride I did suspect that I was beginning to feel some sort of side effects, although they were really very minimal. Really my experience on the two drugs was like night and day. I actually think you touch on a somewhat neglected aspect of Finasteride side effects. Side effects like "low libido" or even "erectile dysfunction" are obviously undesirable but ultimately sound quite benign. For me, the real issue was more a general numbness and physical discomfort, just as you describe. It really was not just same as usual but with reduced libido.
I also had blood tests to confirm that DHT reduction was at least as great as 1mg/day finasteride. Of course with intermittent dosage the level will not be constant, but on average I was getting slightly greater reduction than with 1mg/day finasteride. Incidentally, the concentration curve is not linear; the average concentration will be higher than a simple average of the endpoints. This average is based on a model of the rate of change of DHT concentration enabling more accurate prediction of the concentration curve. Using the same model I would say that for most people 0.5mg/week is roughly equivalent to finasteride, and 0.5mg twice a week is better.
One question is whether taking an average like this is valid, i.e. do the effects of DHT on hair follicles vary linearly with serum/scalp concentration? The results in Olsen et al 2006 and Roberts et al 1999 suggest that it might be, although even this evidence is not completely satisfactory. Perhaps somebody who knows more about the biochemistry of the hair follicle can provide a reason whether it is likely to be or not.
As for the surprising differential in the side effects: complete speculation, but I have considered the possibility that allowing DHT to raise during only part of the week could be enough to satisfy requirements in other parts of the body. I really do wish to stress that this is completely baseless conjecture on my part. Indeed, equally spaced doses of 0.5mg dutasteride 3x or even 2x a week result in reasonable suppression of DHT throughout the week, so if these are well tolerated other mechanisms may well be at play. Nevertheless, possibly worth throwing it out there.

Could it be that you switched? Sounds like hair chemist added dut and didn’t switch
@@Brandon-ex8ui Yes, I only ever took one at a time.
I would love to try this. My only concern would 'if' I got side effects from low dose dutasteride it would be months before they would pass. I brought this question up with Dr Bevin Bhoyral recently. Thanks for sharing!
Yes, that is a legitimate concern. I do think there’s a threshold. If you have sides with 3 capsules maybe try 2. The side effects may subside.
@@HairTransplantNetworki use 1/4 proscar for 4 days a week and One dutasteride a week. I use also dutasteride lotion 0.1% and antiandrogeni lotion. I make mesoterapia dutasteride polinucleotidi once a month. So i can go down dosage of sistemic dutasteride.
Half life of dut is dose dependent. Each capsule has a half life of 3 days . If you take it > 2x a week it I’ll build up to steady state and reach full half life potential. If you take 1x or 2x a week spaced out this will not happen.
What is good for dht DUPA
Is there any reason for the doses to be taken on consecutive days? Or can I take them spaced out (like Monday, Wednesday, Friday)? The latter seems more balanced to me
Why not every other day rather than a row of consecutive days?
Taking Dutasteride for longer time will it effect liver or kidney disease or on heart plz reply
Very interesting
Might be the best protocol
Thank you 👍. I will switch to Dut thrice a week protocol 😊 great info
🙌
Can you link the studies?
I’ll post it as a pinned topic
Melvin right now I take 2 Capsules of Oral Dutasteride in a week but I do not take it consecutive days ? I take it Tuesday and Saturday do you think I should take it consecutive days ? Will it make any difference ? I am not seeing any active hair loss in my case.
According to Dr. Vaño it’s better to take it consecutively
Why on earth would you take it on Saturday?
@@alfrani2348Saturdays are for popping pills and partying brother
Hi there; what is the logic of doing it consecutive days? I have been doing the same 2x week (Sunday and Wed night)....my logic is by spreading means the medicine is working to block DHT across the week. Thanks!
Hey, still waiting on reply for this pls 😊
Are you getting results this way? It also seems more balanced to me. I wanted to understand why consecutive days are recommended in the video
Since 10 years I use 1mg finasteride three times a week. Unfortunately, the effect slowly wears off. In addition to finasteride three times a week, can I also take dutasteride 0.5 mg once a week? Or would you rather take dutasteride 0.5 mg every two weeks?
Dr. Vaño believes its better to switch altogether to dutasteride

I take 2.5 mg fin and 320 mg saw palmetto everyday but im still losing ground. I got me some dutasteride but im kinda scared to take it. Should I be fine?
Follow this protocol 3x per week.
Dutasteride also shuts down DHT production in the brain though, since it blocks the Type 1 enzyme which is all over the brain tissues.
This doesn’t seem like a good idea. Isn’t it proven DHT promotes brain development in kids? So how could turning it off in adults be good.
The only advantage Dut has is it will probably shutdown acne
Well, this protocol is low-dose and intermittently. It’s not daily use. All drugs have drawbacks.

I have no side effects using Finasteride 1 mg every day for 6 montgs. But I think I am still losing ground aggressively (I also started 2.5 mg oral min like 2 weeks ago, was on 1.25 mg oral min for 6 months)
Is it time to try and switch to dutareside or should I wait for a year?
I think switching to 0.5mg dutasteride is more effective. 2.5mg of oral min is a good dosage.

stop talking shit. plenty of people (including me) ended up in hospital (seriosly) from 2.5mg oral min. If you didnt get side effects, that is not the same for everybody.
Does he use generic dutasteride or avodart?
In Spain, they have to compound it.
@@HairTransplantNetwork
Spain is tryin make its citizens baldcel slapheads
Would there be a lower side effect profile taking 0.1% topical Dutasteride instead?
Topicals vary depending on the vehicle. But in general they have fewer reported side effects than oral version.
There is literature attesting to the efficacy of dutasteride dilution delivered as mesotherapy (injecting the solution directly into the scalp, as is done with PRP) once every 3-months. This was shown to be highly effective at preventing hair loss and to have little or no effect on serum DHT levels. In other words, the drug seems to stay localized to the scalp.
The only problem is finding a provider who will perform the service for you. Mesotherapy doesn't seem to be a very popular practice in the U.S.
Perhaps our friend at the HTN here could use his connections to start an initiative of doctor's that will offer mesotherapy. ;)
@@tomcotter4299
Yes, im trying, many US doctors are skeptical. Sometimes too dogmatic.
@@HairTransplantNetwork Thank you for your efforts thus far! Have you tried reaching out to Bryan Johnson for help? Hair loss is an issue near and dear to him, and he uses dutasteride delivered through mesotherapy himself. Perhaps he could lead an effort to popularize his protocol within the medical community, if someone with a popular hair loss platform plants the idea in his head. ;)
@@HairTransplantNetwork Sorry if you get a double-post. Thought I replied but I don't see my comment. Have you tried reaching out the Bryan Johnson (the guy trying to reverse aging)? Hair loss is an important issue for him, and he actually uses the mesotherapy protocol described above for his own hair. Perhaps he could spearhead an effort to popularize the practice within the medical community.
Nice thank u😊 can we have healthy kids when we are on finast. or dudst? Thx😊😊
Using it orally should be okay, but if you’re on Topical Dutasteride you should get off while trying to conceive and during pregnancy
Ah really i tought it was the inverse. Why topical one is not good he dosnt get in the blood like the oral one. Thx

@@HairTransplantNetworkl'm using topical finasteride daily, should l stop it if l want to conceive and during the pregnancy ?
I was taking 1.25 Mg of Proscar (Finasteride) 4 days a week for several years, but I eventually suffered from ED and stopped taking it. I still suffer from ED some 2 years later now, I am dealing with it, but it has affected my quality of life. Interesting that my hair loss hasn't gotten much worse since then, but it has progressed some. Is Dutasteride a good option for me?
What's the latest situation my friend, I haven't used any of them but my hair is falling out a lot, I'm thinking of starting now.
what about low does fin vs low dose dut? this video compares 1mg fin to everyday vs dut twice/three times a week. Low dose fin 2/3 times a week might also be good, but he doesn't dive into that.
Low does dut is more effective. They compare to 1mg because they’re equal in efficacy
Dutasteride is over kill for the problem .I'd rather keep using finasteride til maybe if one day it won't be as effective .why use the last resort ,and there's no back tracking to finasteride than if Dutasteride get to be less effective over the years as this will be a lifetime commitment .also the US version of Dutasteride is a liquid gel cap so don't see how you could titrate that .when I first started my hair regrowth journey I did start with Dutasteride ,but I got mine from India they had an actual pill that you could cut ,but it also contained tamsolsin. It effects your ejaculate to Going into your bladder .not good if your looking to father a child one day
Hello Doctor, the doctor prescribed me Dutasteride and I continued on it for 15 days, but it caused me side effects of erectile dysfunction and impotence. I stopped taking it 6 days ago, but the effects persist. Do the effects go away or remain, and what should I do?
You are the typical example of how the statystics over duta and fina’s side effects are fake. They mention 4% side effects but people like you Who have Severe mental issues should not even leave a review, it affects the real number of adverse side effects vs mental side effects.
Update . Whats the situation now
Why Mon, Tues, Weds instead of say Mon, Weds, Fri? Wouldn't it be better to spread the doses across the week?
What i do with Finasteride - Mon/Wed/Fri/Sun
Prolly cause it reduces DHT more doing it consecutively. Dut has a 5 week half life.
@@jamesmartinez9140 so it’s stronger than finasteride and will have a stronger side effect I guess? Is it worth the switch?
@@RiskyTingz08
Not according to Dr. Vaño, my only guess is there’s less chance of developing side effects because you’re not using it daily
Dutasteride has an accumulative effect. So using it consecutively is better.
