KLX 300SM Track Day

The stock tires aren't great, and the KLX is quite underpowered compared to the 20,000 dollar race bikes out here. There were some pros out here today. It was still an absolute blast. It slides for days and the brakes managed to hold up. Suspension is good.

Absolutely. It's the most forgiving motorcycle I've ridden.

I’m interested in getting started with track days at my local kart track. Do you recommend getting a KLX300sm? Some people told me to go for a 450 but i don’t want to do a full conversion and have to deal with rebuilds

if you don't have a competitive bone in your body, a klx is great because it's street legal and can be used as a street bike as well, while other options can't. But after doing it for a while and getting good, you might want to race, and the klx is no race bike. If you get a used one for cheap, it'd be great for getting into it, and you can sell it later down the line for something faster if you need. I have thousands of extremely cheap but fun track miles on my klx and it's made me a good rider
