Who's more likely to win a defensive duel? who's more likely to complete a dribble ? who's more likely to win a penalty fairly? who's more likely to win an individual award e.g ballon d'or , golden ball, european golden boot etc?
Who's more likely to contribute the most in any one game and win the MOTM award?
Check the facts and stats and come back to answer these.
@@Miguel-yx9zg Lol I never said " ronaldo only scores goals and penalties" . To be fair their stats are more or less the same when it comes to penalties. Although Ronaldo has more penalty goals but that's not the point. Also, UCL is a team award while golden ball is an individual award.
But what I will say is that Ronaldo's move to Juventus also showed that he too needs the best providers and suppliers (in midfield) to compete in UCL and big games. Modric and Kroos and Marcelo complemented him greatly . The same can be said about Xavi and Iniesta for Messi.
But Ronaldo doesn't have the same goal-creation/chances-creation prowess that Messi has. How many times has Messi won the MOTM without scoring? Compare that to the number of times that Ronaldo won MOTM without scoring a single goal , that's unheard of. Almost zilch.
This proves that there's more to football than goals and stats , and all things being equal Messi is still slightly better than Ronaldo , not by a crazy margin though.

Ending the debate? It was never a debate to begin with. Messi is not only the greatest player to ever play the game, he's just a genuinely better ambassador for the game. He's extremely humble, doesn't dive needlessly, doesn't complain, just plays the game and does it better than anyone else ever. We are lucky to have a player like Lionel Messi carry that mantle because we couldn't have wished for a better human being to do so.
You can't use an individual's personality as a criterion to judge in the world of sports. Football is a competitive game. If one man decides to be loud about his achievements, that's his style. If another decides to be quite, that's his style.

Even more if we are speaking about an "ambassador", as the original comment mentioned. In that regard, Messi is clearly a way bettter model than Cristiano in almost every possible way.
