- In this episode we wanted to shed light on some lesser known delicious drinks of Vietnam. We just happen to choose the hottest day ever to film it. I started strong but by the end i was having a bit of a heat stroke. Luckily the next day we had the first big rain of the new rainy season which brought the temperature back down to a reasonable level.

Hi Chad, unforunately that kumquat and peach tea lady was no longer selling them. Her store was closed and renovated into a noodle shop. However there is a guy who sell kinda the same stuff next to the noodle store you reviewed, the "bún cá cay" one. He has smth called "trà tắc xí muội" or "salted dry apricot and kumquat tea" and the taste is pretty interesting tho. Also try the Cơm Tấm Bình store opposite to the Bún Cá Cay as they have a decent grilled pork chop. I've been his customer for almost 5 years and he knows exactly what I eat everytime I visit him haha. You should try fatty pork chop "sườn mỡ" or grilled pork belly "ba rọi nướng" with egg "trứng" and ask for runny york.
I was so upset, I passed by the other day and saw her shop closed up😢, she was so nice. I’ll try the other spots thank you for the recommendation
Noooo, i was so excited after his review man. Dang it
Hi do you know where did she move to? really want to try her kumquat tea
@@312newgirl unfortunately I dont! I was in hospital through May and when I visit my cơm tấm spot on June, she is gone and the house is already renovated!
to be honest, trà tắc is literally everywhere in viet nam
lots of people sell it though
i like the fact that you called every drinks by their vietnamese name and then give explanation about the name
As a Vietnamese, I'm glad that finally someone has made videos about these drinks🎉. I love all of them especially Rau má. And my family has sold Nước Sâm for around 10 years. You can try Nước Sâm Củ Năng, basically that is Nước Sâm with water chestnut as topping. It is worth a try 😁
i love rau má ‘expectully’ jenny huỳnh
@@bobbyluong4263that's a nice joke man
I love eating cu nang. Some people like it cooked, but I like it uncooked. Delicious. Cook or uncooked are both good, but I like it better uncooked.
Drinks foods ….deserts everything for $1 !! Love the idea always ….keep it coming we all want more !!
Love to hear it thank you
"Nước sâm" is a boiled various herbs drink with sugar. There are couple of recipes, but the main ingredients are usually seaweed, sugarcane, daisy, corn silk, monk fruit,... and rock sugar. It can be up to 24 kinds of herbs, called 24 flavors - "nước sâm 24 vị". Sometimes, "sâm" is just a common name for boiled herb drink, like "sâm bí đao" (only winter melon), sâm rong biển (only seaweed), sâm bông cúc (only daisy). You gonna be an expert if you have ever tried "sâm 3 màu" - 3 colors sâm 😎
As a Vietnamese. I drank and tried all of it.
@@TheLastPiecePizza-Alex- yes! As a Vietnamese you have to!
@@anghieupham7806 i prefer to drink it along with "Nước Đắng". Another type of herbal drink but very bitter.
ginseng
How did you type Nuoc sam on your computer I deadass can't figure this out💀
Your new editor needs to keep his/her job. Insane quality
Love the beginning song.
Shout out Mr Thang editing skills. 🎉
He is truly talented
As a person who lives in Vietnam for a long time, I, a Vietnamese can confirm that these taste amazing
Personally, I love this video. It promotes Vietnamese's drinks to overseas and local peoples, as a Vietnamese, I appreaciate it
I don't know somehow I feel really bad when you said "ignore the trash" lol
It's quite interesting to see a foreign channel talk about these Vietnamese drinks. My favorite out of all of these is definitely rau má đậu xanh. It's actually quite sad to see many of these drinks are slowly declining in popularity since the invasion of bubble tea. Maybe you can make a part 2, I could give a few more examples, like "nha đam đường phèn", "sâm bí đao", "sâm dứa", "trà mãng cầu" (sugar apple tea, this is a new one), "sinh tố sa pô chê" (sapoche smoothie)
trà sữa làm sao nhiều bằng xe bán nước ép được bạn???? bạn có bị nhầm ko?
The first lady was beautiful to me. She kooks so kind ❤❤❤
This drinking on the street culture is so nice, especially the beer hoi in Mamai street near the Hanoi Backpacker Hostel. Those citrus drinks also perfect and those coffee in small glasses. I miss Vietnam.
you should try nuoc xi muoi, ive loved that drink ever since i was a child and always got my grandma to make me some when i would travel to vietnam
I love it too 👍
Hello Chad,
My fiance and I went back to Vietnam in mid-July. We had so much fun eating and trying Vietnamese food. All of the drinks you mentioned here, I love the herbal drink, rau ma and tea tac. They were good and cheap comparing to the boba drinks I have in the US. My fiancee is a white. He had Vietnamse coffee 2 to 3 times a day. He couldn't have enough so he bought 3 kilograms of whole coffee beans to take home.
We miss Vietnam and would love to come back soon. Thank you for making videos to show different food/drinks of Vietnam. Until I have a chance to go back, I will watch your channel to devour my craving.
Omg we love those drinks, very helpful video
Really enjoying the new style of videos bro. My wife is viet from Hai Phong and and we have been watching your videos together. I’m visiting VN for the first time in a few weeks. Definitely looking forward to it.
My brother married a Hai Phonger and she's the best person in the world. Everyone absolutely loves her as she's a genuine and such a good person inside and out. She can cook like nobody's business, too. Hai Phong peeps are known to be really hard working and and known for their great food, I hear, and many people from Hanoi go there for food tours.
I appreciate the work you put in your videos, I love your content so muchhh. Thank you for the love for my country 😊
Good folks, great food and drinks. Thank you for being so open and friendly.
Editing is top tier my dude. Love the videos!
I love how you edit and film the video, love the unique music at the beginning of the video.
Recently discovered your videos. I appreciate your effort in speaking Vietnamese and interviewing the vendors.
Im hoping to travel to Vietnam someday and seeing your attention to detail on the items as well as subtitles made your videos very enjoyable. Thank you!
you should try Sữa Quế or Sữa Huế: condensed milk + lemon + crushed ice. Super delicious, it's like the upgraded version of ice yogurt
Giờ tôi mới biết tên chính thức của nó dù làm ở nhà mãi :))

Love the content + video quality !!!! 😮😮😮
FINALLY!!! So many people only stick to basic Vietnamese drinks but we have so many varieties to offer for all types of taste buds! Great video!
Trà tắc is also my husband favorite as Caucasian. As a Vietnamese, I had to admit that I underestimated our common drinks until I gave them try the drinks. Seems like everyone likes it
Bravo my G. Editing and videographer is doing awsome job

bro real chad when review Vietnam. Vietnam on top!!
Hey man, i just wanna say that your content and the edit style is so cool. Hope you can maitain this style!
And you survive the heat and make us this video, great work man.
Hi Chad. I really enjoy your content. I was just in VN and I miss it already. Your videos remind me so much of my time over there. I'm back in TX now and it is scorching hot over here. One place I really liked when I was in VN was this drink stand called Shin Milk Tea in the Tan Phu area (I think that's correct). They used real fruit. Some fruits they told me were hard to obtain because of low supply. Either way their drinks were great if you ever want to give them a taste. Keep up the great work. -Van
This is amazing dude! I love your new content style.
Appreciate that, we are making as much as we can.
Fun fact: the recipe for the "trà đào" is very similar to the tea in "trà tắc".
You should try ‘bánh tráng trộn’ our traditional food it’s pretty good and very delicious (im just a student in Viet Nam so i hope there is no english mistakes in my comment)
all of these 5 drinks except the Yogurt + Ice (they don't have the same yogurt here) are also very popular and available in some Vietnamese restaurants, and most Vietnamese/Asian super markets where there are a lot of Vietnamese in the US
content and quality of your vlog are impressive. Keep going
I've actually seen people drink 4 of 5 of the drinks before. The only one I've not seen was the yogurt drink and now I'm curious. I'm not a fan of the overly sugar-y drinks (been making my own yogurt for years and never sweeten it...but have used it recently to make ayran, which is a savory yogurt drink popular in the Middle East areas). Would love to see you do more of these as I'm curious what other unique drinks are offered. You should have added the natural Vietnamese Gatorade (chanh muoi) as it'll replenish your electrolytes on a hot day like that. Also would like you to do a coffee version. I know coconut, egg, salted, peanut butter, yogurt, pandan, etc., are supposed to all be good.
It’s all coming, next week I have another drink episode out. We will explore more of the “uncommon” ones soon
@@yeschefwithchadkubanoffchanh muối mật ong is the best
thank you for made this vid i like it . I very excited when i see this vid and im Vietnames too
I just found your channel and love your content. Informative, enthusiastic, humble, and you even show us how to cook stuff. Subscribed!
I visited Vietnam for the first time in March-April and yeah, it was hot! I was also hooked on the sugarcane juice, especially with a little calamansi and salt; I "discovered" trà tắc a bit late in the game. But then iced yogurt drink intrigues me. I lived in Turkey and loved salty ayran, but perhaps because they were never colonized, Turkey missed the condensed milk boat. It never occurred to me to add it to yogurt...but can't wait to try this Vietnamese take!
Rau má - I also got that introduced to me late, and when I tried it from our local Vietnamese deli, I was different. I learned here that the difference was the mung beans, so thanks for that too. :-)
I don't think the Middle East would be as into sugar as southern Vietnamese folks. That area of the world likes things more savory and tends to like sour/tangy over sweet stuff, which is why ayran is popular there as it's made from their homemade yogurt (I just googled and according to Wikipedia, yogurt originated from Turkey).
@@doodahgurlie oh, they are very into sugar, but they really don't mix it with savory things very much. (Consider of the syrupy suites like baklava, kadayif etc.) although people will make a few sweets with yogurt, it's generally some thing eaten with or added to savory dishes. My favorite ayran (basically salty lassi) is made from drained whole milk yogurt.
@@sazjiOh, I understand they have dessert and make it well. When I was a teen, I worked at a French bakery owned by a Lebanese guy where I met one of my BFFs who is of Jordanian/Palestinian ethnicity and her family owned a Mediterranean restaurant...also dated a Lebanese guy. Also worked for a Iranian guy later on in life. So I know a little bit about their food including their amazing sweets/desserts (in my initial response to you that I eventually edited out, I was going to quality it by mentioning the first time I had baklava, I about died from a sugar rush since it was drenched in honey). But yes, they don't really add additional sugar to their savory dishes. When I first ate their food, it was actually too sour for me until my taste buds adapted to that flavor profile, at which point, I learned to love tabbouleh, fattoush, etc. I also mentioned ayran a few posts before you did as I learned to make my own yogurt from my friend a couple of decades ago. Her family sold ayran in their restaurant, which was where I tried it and was not a fan initially. Now I love it and find it refreshing. I made a few batches the past couple of weeks or so as it's been hot as heck in the US.
about the yogurt, you can try the variant with coffee, Vietnamese coffee goes especially well with yogurt, and also really nice and smooth transition and edit, love the vid
wow u have real good editing. great workx keep going and someday u will succes
your editing, cineatography and Vietnamese accent are masterpieceeeeeeee!!!
Good job man ! I ❤VN
Did the same as you, closed my business of 25 years and moved to Saigon - I love it here

We love nuoc sam here in Garden Grove. Luc Dinh Ky makes a great Sam Bo Luong, sold everywhere now.
Well done bro :) your work is amazing. Good luck for yr chanel
Thank you so much
man, I just went back to visit my folks this summer and this vid already makes me homesick
🎉
in vn there's a lot of souring agents like tamarind and other natural stuff. since you're a chef maybo do a canh chua as an experiment to see taste test. depending on the region they have so many souring agent for a version of canh chua
thanks for a nice video
your edit is just better and better everyday, keep it up 🖐🤚
Thank you so much
Nice vid keep it up guys
I love all the drinks!!! I haven’t had the yogurt drinks for along time
Your video is beautiful! Love it
Your content is really amazing. I'm Vietnamese but I have not yet tried all drinks. I have to try it soon.
as a vietnamese i really love your contentttt
Im heading to Vietnam in less than a month and your videos have my mouth watering from now. Last time I was there (2019), i avoided the juice stalls bc i wasnt sure about the ice. Clearly I was misguided, so Im happy I can go back and correct that mistake haha thanks for the videos, they are top shelf!
I'd say most food and drink stalls offer cheap and affordable prices partly because the ingredient sources, either widely available and common grade or cutting on some safety sides. If you have to take precautions, you can order "không đá" (= no ice) and buy or use ice somewhere you trust
Thank you for promoting Vietnamese culture and cuisine 🫡
Thanks 4 sharing.🖖👍
awesome video, keep up the good work :D
love your facial emotions, just showed how good the drinks were
hmmm, really like your edit
Several good cool drinks 🥤 🥤 🥤
