The Banksy joke was a throwback to the first movie.
The Spiderverse films are a true example of masterful films within the genre. The upside down shot in the first film with miles actually has a point to it, they didnt just do it because it looked cool. Its upside down, but miles moves up the frame because hes ascending as spiderman. Every shot has a purpose. This film does the same. I wish Sony's live action division understood that.
I wish Sony's film division disappeared back up inside their own assholes.
The more information I hear about the behind-the-scenes of this movie its a miracle that this movie is so amazing
I never thought hobie and gwen were in any type of relationship or hooking up. I thought it was her just kinda teasing Miles
At this point it's next to impossible that it will be anytime soon before we get better Spider-Man movies than the Spider-Verse movies.

Don’t overthink it. Miles and Gwen together makes perfect sense. You literally gave reasons that they do. They have tons of things in common. Both of their fathers are cops. They have spider powers and tons of shared experiences. They are literally the perfect pairing.
I love Spider verse cause talking about it really highlights which people are artistically visual or artistically literative, and depending on which side you fall shows whst problems you have with the movie.
Sal is being polite saying he would be okay with marvel comics retiring Peter as Spider-Man 😂 no way he would abide that lol (current ASM run not withstanding)
For me this is the best Spiderman movie I love this film it checks all the boxes. I rewatch it often and it never gets old

I like half of it. I think I like it when it’s more a question than an absolute fact. The original JMS run balanced it really well.

The problem is that Jobu Tupaki in Everything Everywhere All at Once was objectively correct.
Exposure to a multiverse is fatal to the concept of meaning. There is no reason to care about anything happening to anyone when everything happens to everyone.

I think this is the best story I’ve ever seen in a Spider-Man film. I love philosophical questions. They make me think a lot about what it means. This films question is brilliant: is Spider-Man based around the tragedy in their lives or the willingness to get up and try to love forward. Miles is trying to prevent what makes him Spider-Man in the eyes of the cannon which is in a way the most Spider-Man thing I can think of.
This movie swaps stories. Miles’ is about “the story” and rather going alone and Gwen’s is trying to find a band anx come out to her Dad. They swap at the end of the film almost at the same time showing how different and similar they both are.
The animation is breathtaking. Maybe even more so then Into The Spider-Verse. I do think Sony is considering an animated Spider-Gwen movie and honestly, I’d adapt Spider-Man Blue but have it be Gwen instead of Peter and the whole journey be from Peter to Miles. The blue would look so beautiful in a watercolour. It’s my favourite Spidey story so I do think it could work but probably as a buildup to Peter as the Lizard and not Kraven
To quote TNG, maybe these movies will be a kick in their complacency.

55:14 I kinda agree about Miles and Gwen but I definitely disagree about Dick Grayson and Barbara Gordon. I love their dynamic and think the fact that they are associated with the Bat Family to be kind of irrelevant. Also I just never really thought Kory (Starfire) was that interesting. To me Kory and Dick feel basically like college exes who remain good friends.

I said this before we embarked on this multiversal journey but part of the fun of the multiversal versions crossing over is that we've seen them excel elswere on their own, Amazing Spider-Man, Ultimate Spider-Man, Supior, 2099, heck even got the sting of 1602 Spidey getting taken out, they were established else where and then brought together. Spider-vers is excelling do to the multi media exposer and attemps at cross overs taken by games (shattered Dimensions) the cartoon as early as the 90's chartoon and the books them selves. The fact there trying to do the same in the mcu with only there established franchises and one off episode show is starting to show it's shaky base. Heck even no way home had three difrent film franchises to weave and nestalgia to milk, the up coming dead pool is getting people excited because we have two characters tangentially from the same universe coliding with the near two decade old juggernaut.
MCU is going to be fine especially with Deadpool 3 coming this July it's was DCU Snyderverse that failed but yeah Sony have no idea what they doing
If the MCU continues down the path of "Agenda over story" it will fail. They keep pushing girl-boss Mary Sueper Heroes and they'll tank Marvel films.
I agree with you in terms of there’s so much fat to trim. On a first watch it’s all gold and amazing, when I watched it again I have to admit I did feel a little bloat. Still a great movie though.
My only complaint is I wish they'd tone it down with the fast cuts and insane colour burst. I love the films but end up having to stop because of a migrane. Maybe they could have a version on the Bluray less intense. Like a dimmer cut.
