ive gotta start uploading earlier man. anyway as i was researching a different topic related to the abyss it crossed my mind that the term "abyss" in genshin impact is talking about several different things that all share the same umbrella term so I wanted to make this video before I do one talking about the travelers sibiling so we are all on the same page. cloud retainer leaks are looking rough boys lmfao.

I have seen the theory that the Abyss Order wasn’t originally the Abyss Mages and Herlads but modelled themselves after them since we see Chlothar had no idea what the Frost Herald was. So the Khaenriahns aligned themselves with the abyss of the Abyss Order was establish.
either that or the heralds just joined the cause. but yes we know for a fact that heralds existed before the abyss order did because of the one gaurding the crystal.
I know this was probably mentioned sarcastically, but I think the 'Abyss' that the Abyss Order worships and follows is merely just the figurehead of the Abyss realm. A lot of other games/literature have figureheads that represent the power of the dimensions they reside in.
From what we can gather from the info gleamed from the All-Devouring Narwhal and its boss items, the 'Abyss Realm' seems to be the entire universe outside of Teyvat, or at the very least, the universe outside Phanes's eggshell. The Narwhal's items say that it has traversed the stars and devoured several other worlds, while also mentioning how many worlds it swallowed were already dead and devoid of life.
This plays into your previous video on how the Heavenly Principles aren't purely evil, since it seems that life in the Universe is inherently antithetical to life. And can you really blame Phanes for thinking so? Our own real universe is already filled with so many things that can kill living beings, and given how hard it is to find planets habitable for life, and how we never found any concrete evidence of living beings outside of Earth, it isn't that hard to think that both the Void Realm/Abyss/Universe, and ours are equally dangerous to normal life.
This is why normal beings like Dragons and humans are negatively affected by the Abyss, and I remember somewhere it being mentioned (I think by Elinas or the other Melusines), that there are souls/shadows mingling in the Abyss (Void Realm) and they were given form by Rhinedottir.
Khaenri'ah seems to have an ancient history of poking holes in the Firmament and studying the Abyss, which is why a few individuals like Skirk/Gold/Surtalogi seem to be relatively unaffected by it. Or at the very least have their transformations hidden. It's interesting to see if Gold/Surtalogi were able to avoid Celestia's curse by residing in the Abyss, and the same with Skirk (or if she is not a Khaenri'an native and maybe from Natlan or Snezhnaya), while Dainsleif WAS cursed by Celestia but was able to maintain a humanoid form.
I agree that the Sinner is most likely Nibelung, but could it be possible that he DID reincarnate after his death in the War of Vengeance? I see a lot of people trying to guess whether the Sinner is either Nibelung or King Irmin, and I wonder, could it be both? If Neuvilette could reincarnate as a human, why can't Nibelung? Granted, we don't know much about Irmin so the timing could be off, but it is something to consider.
So to clarify, the 3 Abyss's mentioned so far are:
1. Abyss: Void Realm/Outer Universe
2. 'Abyss': Sinner/ruler of the Abyss Order aka Nibelung or Irmin
3. Abyss Order: Select people of Khaenri'ah recruited by Clothar and currently lead by Abyss Sibling to follow Sinner's orders. Not every corrupted Abyss being or Khaenri'an is necessarily allied to Abyss Order. Jakob despises them, and Surtalogi/Skirk/Rhinedottir don't seem affiliated with them either.
yea nice write up! a couple things i wanna add
if we think of teyvat as being in a "bubble" (eggshell) then its important to note the abyss being "outside" of teyvat works both above and below teyvat. most of the people that have fallen into the abyss, did just that -FELL into it (childe, bloodstained knight).
However I also agree with the idea that there the abyss does simply extend beyond teyvat and even the world, given how often we here the phrase "a power from beyond".
Finally regarding Nibelungs reincarnation, he is a sovereign so he will reincarnate if he hasn't already, but what form that reincarnation took/will take is unknown. The reason Neuvillette became a human was because the hydro vishaps became impure- thats it. Thats why I like the idea of Nibelung being the crystal so much, because if Nibelung was the Second Who Came, then he actually made to the Primordial One paranoid due to his powers revealing humans a way to break from the shackles placed on them by celestia.
As such I think its totally reasonable to assume celestia would monitor his reincarnation and "chain him up" to ensure he doesnt reveal the truth to anyone.
Neuvillette is still a dragon right? But in the shape of a human.

I'm pretty sure that the abyss is actually the Sea of Quanta which is very important in hoyoverse multiverse since it contains multiple worlds and it seems that the planet that have Teyvat is actually a world in the sea of quanta.
Isn't the imaginary tree were all the world's and universes reside and the sea of quanta is what's trying to flood the tree?

@@Aaronreacher Some worlds are cut off from Imaginary Tree and end up floating in Sea of Quanta. There are even worlds that come to existence in the Sea, but are extremely unstable.
But it was already confirmed in HI3 that Teyvat is still attached to Imaginary Tree (Otto spotted Dvalin, when looking into other branches).
@@kostuchan4418 wasn't Otto looking into the Sea of Quanta instead of the imaginary ttee, considering the fact he also sees Fallen Rosemary the Rita from Captainverse. So far the Captainverse occurs only in the Sea of Quanta. For that reason I thought that Genshin is in the Sea of Quanta (at the way the world works also confirms that).
@@Stro2101 According to Hoyo writers during 4.2 PV, Otto was looking at different branches.
While Captainverse does happen (mostly) in Sea of Quanta, Captain himself is from a world parallel to the one from main story.

plus it does talk to people and it seems the body it manifested in might be the sinner
the sinner tried to get a human body to roam Teyvat possibly Caribert but failed because he might have been overloaded with abyss, Caribert might have ended up as Dark Mud

I think somewhere in the Abyss/Void Realm, there is "Forbidden Knowledge" to be found. It is willful, dangerous and corrupting. People who seek it, eventually find it - both the power and the corruption of it.
But most of the Abyss is just emptiness and occasional scary monster. And thus, can be lived in relatively safely by people such as Childe and Skirk. Just like jungles of Sumeru are safe as long as you don't enter Withering Zones and don't pick fights with too many Fungi at once.
Because this is a video game, and someday, we'll visit the Abyss. Maybe even collect Forbidden Knowledge as ascension materials for somebody.

The Abyss Order is just a group created in Teyvat not the Abyss.
Maybe The Sinner is the one who brought the power of the Abyss.
Abyss has a Queen and she is not Surtalogi.
The Abyss is bigger than the Genshin's Solar System.
The Abyss place is likely just the Sea of quanta aka, the vast sea of darkness beyond the eggshell that is Teyvat.
The Queen of the Abyss is most likely The Night Mother

Im not even sure if celestia can destroy the abyss.
My theory is the the 'abyss place' is a direct result of Celestia more or less combining the light realm with the human realm. My guess is that it couldn't be accomplished without the void realm getting mixed in. Who knows though.

@@Roihclem871Well the Lore of the narwhale talking about eating other lifeless worlds confirms Teyvat as world, bubble or planet made out of the Eggshell of the Primordial One (yeah Phanes is not the Primordial one for me) to protect its creation from the Abyss place aka the sea of Quanta that want to flood Irminsul and destroy everything
