      @@russianbot3512 true, but let's also not forget that slavery in Africa was different than that which came to America. In Africa, most people were enslaved for a certain amount of time and released, while also having certain rights around their treatment. Chattel slavery (in which one is perceived as literal property) became more popular with the transatlantic slave trade. of course two wrongs don't make a right, but there were differences and important nuances to acknowledge in the overall treatment of slaves in Africa vs. Europe/the Americas.

    • @tikkiturtlegal
      @tikkiturtlegal Před 3 lety +12

      @Bob Smith The nuances are important because the transatlantic slave trade resulted in much of the racial hierarchy/inequalities that are seen today between white and black Americans, and people of colour globally. Yes, all slavery is barbaric. Yes, chattel slavery was in Africa before European involvement. But it was far less common and became the main form of slavery once people were being sold to the Americas. And black people/people of colour (Natives were sold, too) became characterized as less than human to support this system in which slaves had no rights at all or hope of gaining freedom. Prior to helping with civil rights, "straight white males" added to the babarism of slavery and we are still dealing with the ramifications of that. I think that's important to note, but go ahead and keep praising yourself for ending universal slavery, as if people of all backgrounds didn't fight for that lol.

      Yeah. I was cringing the entire time. Either he's stupid and never ties it up while he works, or he's vain enough to take the risk only while the camera is around. I'm not sure which is worse.

    No chips, or delamination on the blade just a bend that was easily straightened out.

    personally think they made the wrong call here. the other dude had pieces missing from his blade while the other only bent. You can re-harden and temper a blade, you cant fix chips unless you reforge the while sword

  • @dimambo1
    @dimambo1 Před rokem +1

    Both designs look great, but with a major historical flaw: this weapon/symbol of authority is meant to be used the opposite way. The edge should be inside, i.e. on the inward curved portion of the blade, as a sickle. Strange that nobody notice that. Great episode thought. G.JEAN, African arts historian.

    Funny how chain guy did better in almost in all tests, first test he took bent but damage was deeper, second test was good and nothing happened but other dude got chip on blade and last test his weapon cut almost 3 ropes and other guy blade couldnt even cut 1 rope and he won? I disagree that he won

    • @830toAwesome
      @830toAwesome Před 3 lety +1

      @@teewithey5879 The editing is really bad. It just shows it bouncing off the final rope. Then the tester says it cut through 8 and you can see that when they pan out. Just not a well edited clip. I went back a few times thinking the same thing.

    Page looked liked he almost died in side after the strength test when the just pointed out the rising metal on his blade and there wasa chance he was about to get DQ'ed. Went in to the test with the thought he has it after the other blade bent some badly only for that to happen, if it was me I would shaking on the inside. Still good on him for winning though.
