Hey Zepla idk if this is something you could do but Iâd be super interested in seeing a video comparing the various cultures of the NA, EU and JP servers
A nice idea for a vid. Would help us to know what to expect when this thingy comes out
This is a great idea! If she wants to get put a lot of work in, she can turn it into an interview series with people from each region.
I'd be super interested if she had an onlyfans
@@EmreSahinGural gross
the problem is the Japanese servers. they are dancing around the subject but that is the reason why Yoshi-P says that the cultures are different and he's not wrong. the only difference between NA and EU is language and time zones. there can also be problems with Latin America but even that is not as drastic as the difference between JP and the rest of the world. the Japanese are an ethnostate that practice cultural protectionism at the national and individual level which is a neutral concept in my opinion. they want to keep their servers for their people and that is fine with me. mostly likely they will not connect JP with any other regions but hey, there is always a chance i guess.
A response from the devs like this literally keeps me playing the game, like for once a dev team actually listened to the players concerns!
Coming from being addicted to Pokemon Go, it is SUCH a breath of fresh air. Niantic treats its players like trash.
I mean yeah but this isn't a great example of it. They're losing money right now so of course they expand on the servers
Not for once, but multiple times. Their dev team has done a great job at keeping a very transparent, yet strong relationship with the fan base. Which is why it can be quite baffling when players (especially older ones) can be so harsh to them sometimes.
I compare this to Destiny 2 TWABs đ€Ą
@@psclly Thatâs the point ainât it
If they are cautious about mixing NA/EU/JP cultures, they could first create one new Global DataCenter, that anyone can visit, while not opening up the others. So friends can all visit there and play together, while the original DataCenters remain intact and see how that works out.
Something like an event world, with an expanded player amount, would be cool.
They could even just make a new map that's like a hub where all players from every world can meet.
The ERP would be fantastic
Good idea in theory, however that would require the funding and creation of more physical servers. Currently there's a global shortage of some of the components needed to create those servers.
Also they just sunk millions into the Oceania data center, so if they were to implement something like that it probably wouldn't be in the near future. Esp with the congestion.
And location would be an issue. Where would this Global DC be based to ensure the best ping for all the players?
Anyway, would love to see it implemented, but honestly, they'd be better off just introducing DC travel and trying to lessen the economic repercussions.
Omg a global data centre would be so fun. Chaotic fun :D
That would be fun but it's not like they have servers just lying around that they could dedicate to this.
I am so excited to see this grand plan unfold. Yoshi-P and the team are doing amazing with the current situation. You rock Zepla!!
I think people underestimate how different NA, EU and JP are and YoshiP knows this... would be an interesting video to see players from each region comparing things such as macros, social etiquette and party finder. I understand the concerns of mixing them and honestly it might be for the best to keep it that way...I've heard that some servers in JP even have problems with Tonberry (the highest english-speaking population there) and there's already a bit of cultural clash there.
Yeah as someone who has experienced both tonberry and the us servers. Phew tonberry has some pretty⊠intense⊠players. The US servers are generally a lot nicer and relaxed. Even some other JP servers Iâve found players are quite lovely. So I definitely agree with you there! Maybe if they do like a temporary mix together trial haha
most ocianic players currently play on JP so they are used to JP method of things and given lots of them wont move because of statics and houses ect ect it would be nice to atleast allow cross regon party making (even if it needs to be formed through pf or manual invites) to allow statics to stick together would be very nice
So excited for this as a New Zealand player. I average about 190 ping on Tonberry and (assuming the servers are in Sydney as is common), this should drop to 30-40.
So many jobs should be so much more enjoyable
What, that is the difference you will get?
I play on NA from Argentina and I have 200 ping and can do savage no problem xD.
I thought you guys were really having issues.
South America server when =(
190 ping isn't bad, man. 1190, yeah.
@@capnchronic408 Oh, OP missed a 1, then? That sure sucks, haha. Happy you'll get to enjoy the game now, then!
@@FeydenAR no sir, I was merely illustrating what a bad ping would be
@@capnchronic408 i think anything over 280 would be bad, at least for other games.
Happy to hear that they are trying their best to make things easier for now. 2022 should be a great year for FFXIV! :đ
You should do a macros video for newbieâs/ those that are familiar with macros.
For your char to travel to another datacenter, you have to make all char data (equipped/inventory/retainers/chocobos/minions/mounts/achievements/etc) available on that datacenter, and you have to tag them accordingly to avoid duplicates, etc. You have high bandwidth interconnections across datacenters in a region but across the ocean, things are only as fast as one can afford - and they can be pretty pricier in no time. While I have no idea how much data is involved in a single char, doing this data export and transfer does add a toll to the processing servers. And donât forget you have to move it all back somehow, soooo thereâs a little more to be done in the backend than just what we players want. I welcome and thank them to at least consider this as a future option.
FFXI had some issues with cultural differences. Was never so serious we all couldn't play together though. But this was a time long ago, when most FFXIV players were watching Dora the Explorer.
I've reconnected with an old friend this past month and they've been telling me how great FFXIV is and that when the chance arises I should get the game to play with them. So I'm very happy I don't have to wait too long to create my Potato Child and enjoy Eorzea.
@Chad Meckstroth Don't worry in the meantime I have been watching a lot of different videos to gain at least some basic knowledge of mechanics and combat. Plus I'll have an experienced LV.90 friend to help as well. I also intend to take it nice and slow to enjoy the story that I have heard is incredible.
As a new player from New Zealand, I'm really excited for these servers and along with buying the game. Can't wait to get into Stormblood!
I can definitely see why they are hesitant about cross data center travel considering the cultural differences between the east and west, when it comes to running various types of content and interactions with one another.
While I would love to have the ability to queue extremes and raids via the duty finder like JP, as well as taking advantage of their reasonably priced items on their market board⊠I feel like they would want to avoid western players, considering how people canât even adopt the use of macros when clearing high end content. The language barrier, and the pushiness of western players to adjust to their individual playstyles, rather than thinking of a common absolute way of clearing content like JP, which allows higher clear rates for their playerbase, theyâd have to adjust to western players wanting differing strats etc. Thatâs just a few of the reasons of many that I can think of why theyâd be hesitant on cross data center travel. While the west may welcome them with open arms, theyâd rather just keep to themselves and if they make those concerns vocal to yoshi and the team, it most likely has more sway than youâd think on their overall decision of its implementation.
Ettiquette on the hp datacenter is quite different
oh - i am on the JP data centre. I did not realise things were different in NA and EU.
listening to how loot is shared, i feel i want to stay JP when OC opens. i pass unless i can use it, feels like i am naturally inclined to the style.
Macros are pretty much in every PFs in EU servers, outside of blind progs obviously.
I'm glad they gave us an update, and really enjoyed the humility of saying "thanks for sticking with us through 2021." So nice compared to how other MMOs I've played treat their players.
"Is there any low-pop server without any bad congestion?"
YOU THINK WE'RE GONNA TELL YOU?!! Highest queue I've seen during prime time in a few weeks was like 600. Usually it's less than 50 right up until 7-8pm. And then back down to that again around midnight. We're gonna keep that server our dirty little secret XD
My guess is Spriggan or Louisoix
As someone from the Elemental data center (Tonberry): This idea that we roll on 1 item at a time is largely false. You'll only see this is Party Finder groups and there will usually be a note in the party finder stating one roll at a time or some such, and it's largely the JP players that do it. You get an Aussie party in there, its FFA all day. Also, we dont tend to use party finder for repeated clears. You'll find that the duty finder has a higher clear rate, and tends to have more accomplished players. Clearing Hydy extreme in there just after phase 3 starts is common.
The biggest issue with data center travel that I see coming is the economy of worlds IF players using data center travel can access and buy through the market board. At that point you'll end up with 1 global economy, and those from Elemental will NOT enjoy that experience as things here tend to be far far cheaper then NA prices. If they disallow data centre players from accessing the market board, then I'm happy for it to happen.
Data centre travel will increase friction between players, but thats just what happens when you mix different languages and honestly, just having more people in general. It's worth it though, it'll settle out and people will get along with those that travelled to see and have a better experience for it.
I just hope that the Oceanic players do choose to go from the JP data center to the OCE data center. Once in a blue moon does a MMO CHOOSE to have an OCE data center. We'd be betraying Yoshi'P if we didn't go to the OCE data center, housing issues or not. If we don't theres always the possibility they'll shut it down later. We (OCE players) need to show them that we are worth investing time and money into.
Thank you Zepla for all you do!
Excellent comment - hopefully people do use the new servers. I stupidly registered with a US server so will definitely be moving
Yeah I think when he talks about economy he is talking the market boards and prices for items fluctuating if they allowed all regions in.
geez now feeling such responsibility.
i like being in a JP world. I ended up on unicorn, very few english speakers.
would i have chosen OC if it had already been available. i suppose.
Keep it up with the great content, Zepla! It always makes my day when I watch you videos.
I'm in NZ, and super looking forward to the Oceania data centre. I'm getting very tired of dying to area mechanics that I moved out of before they happened, but the server didn't get the message yet...
This 100%
Out of curiosity, what are servers like in NZ? I may be moving there and I love FFXIV so don't break my heart!
@@mbovb006 it's definitely playable, I don't have any issues at all other than the AoE thing. It just means you need to be really good at moving quickly when you need to! The new data centre should be a big help with that.
The physical data center visitation limit seems to be more aimed at preventing players from disrupting the economy by buying/trading cheap items from one region to another region where it's more valuable. I think this is a serious issue to consider before allowing cross region data center visitation.
I really hope we get the cross data center play in 6.1 and it doesn't get pushed back
1:18 "I don't know any world that's not"
Balmung was so congested in December I could barely play, but the queue times never seem to be above 10 minutes now.
Cross region is 100% going to introduce frustration from language barriers to just cultural differences etc, but I think its 100% worth it, most of my friends are JP players so we are actually really looking forward to playing together regardless even though they did mention a lot of differences in how we handle group content when they watched my livestreams.
There are two solutions for this: 1) Either use an application that's built into game in the future for translation or you can use your own application for automatic translation from one language to another , and 2) Learn Japanese yourself and you won't require translation.
But granted, computer translation right now from my experience is pretty poor (i.e. Google translate). If you translate a word or short phrases, it's very accurate. But when you start translating paragraphs, it's very bad translation because a lot of words are interpreted wrong. It's even more difficult when you're translating a word or phrase that has more than one meaning in a sentence.
@@duskshadow25 or have premade phrases that have there own translations, kind of like the dark souls message system but more robust.
@@duskshadow25 The game already has automatic translation built in and it's widely used on JP servers. Learning Japanese also won't necessarily teach kanji. The language isn't the main problem. It's the approach to content and attitudes towards other players. On JP servers it is very, very frowned upon to inconvenience other players and this is not the case on EU/NA servers.
@@cyaira973 yeah jp is a lot cooler than we are. Even their culture in person is better.
I'd be happy if NA and EU could visit each other as theres little reason to keep those seperate, although Japanese servers I dont know.
As an Aussie player, I'm immediately slamming into the new OCE server so I can play with my friends. It's going to be awesome to finally be able to play with all the people I've talked to about the game with
I just realized NFTs are at fault for this situation. The semiconductor shortage is caused by excessive cryptofarming. I cant start playing this game because the fucking monkeys are cockblocking me
FINALLY. I just heard about how awesome this game really is like 2 weeks ago and was so bummed that all sales were halted. happy to finally get ready to play this
I joined in the last big wave of new players (which, ah, kind of caused the shutdown of sales, sorry XD), so I'm excited to see a bunch of sprouts around and feel like a big sister :>
So my friends have been able to do the free trial or they will be able to on the 25th?
Thanks a bunch, Zepla! If I weren't subscribed to you I'd probably miss these announcements. :)
I donât know if you have videos on Macros but Iâm interested in learning about them if you could point me the right direction.
As a player limited to the free trial, I'm so excited to be able to upgrade to the full version and get the expansions! wahoo!
Same, I'm really excited! I was gonna buy it right before it was suspended, if I only had known lol.
Same heređ
All these communications from the game devs are soooo refreshing. I'm so used to the devs at the games I played being deaf and brain dead.
I had no idea you are on Light! Do you do streamer events by any chance?
does anyone know if new players will be able to purchase the game and play it once digital purchases become available? or do they have to go through the free trail?
I'm glad to hear they're reopening the game to buyers. I just don't like the congestion so I hope they can address it before opening the floodgates.
Congestion seems to finally be gone on Phoenix now...the light at the end of the tunnel is near!
Congestion hasn't been bad on Mateus for about two weeks now. Once people finished Endwalker, they pretty much stopped playing so much, allowing login queues to decrease significantly.
Queues haven't been too bad here on Primal. Mostly pick up a bit in the evenings EST but not the 1200+ queues we saw before
I am on the free trial rn. I just finished ARR and I cant wait to buy this game on the 25th.
I need to transfer to an NA server. When I joined, every single NA server was full. The only place I could make a character was JP servers. So now im stranded on Typhon lol
Hi everyone. Does anyone know when the free trial would be likely to make a return?
I think they should open cross world travel with NA/EU/AUS. I can understand not letting us go to Japan servers as our mentality is quite different but the ones I listed above are quite similar.
I'm ecstatic about the news regarding the Oceanic server!! Been playing on Mateus as an Aussie player for ~six months, and the reduced ping will honestly make things so much better.
Hey I'm a new one to FF14 and missed the Road to 70 buff and thinking of joining the Oceanian servers for that. Do you guys think that the lag will be a problem?
I only have an apartment, and I don't really use it much, so I wouldnt mind changing dc's but crystal has been pretty quiet! We're def the casual american dc and since savage released I haven't had a queue longer than 40
... Gosh dangit... I kept thinkig that when the post said Jan 25, 2022, it was talking about next year... My brain is stuck in 2021, lol.
Hey zeps. Keep up the positivity and content
Are the queues still pretty bad? I am pretty new and have been on Marlboro. Only saw large queues during the week of endwalker. Not seen a queue larger than 100 for like 3 weeks
On my server (Faerie on Aether), queues are fine on weekdays from morning until about 7 PM EST/4 PM PST and then they jump to like 1000 and grow to 2k-3k by later in the evening. Itâs poopy lol. On weekends it just happens a few hours earlier
Zepla Thanks for info!
Nice Dahyun edit there Zepla. Didn't know you were a Once. LOL :)
Hey Zepla, You motioned using's macro's. Do you have video or source where I can learn them?
I also play on EU and do many ex trails, and often greeted with a huge chat message. M1 M2 R1 R2 .. this that ... whada whada bing bong. Would love to be able to read those marco's. Whenever I look up FF14 macro's it's just videos on crafting :'D
I hope ultimate comes out during the summer so I can try and raid with the bois.
other centers dont use markers in extreme/savage content? thats wild to me. ive only had a few people use macros to explain what to do and its super confusing. im so use to waymarkers being a visual guide, i need to move to 1 and then 4 and so on. idk, easier for me
I hope they fix the really bad audio stuttering. I donât even wanna continue the main story.
im really looking forward to this game! cant wait to buy it :D can you suggest a server ? im from EU
I see a lot of potential in cross DC travel! While I agree that there may be a cultural crash with NA/EU and JP in the beginning, I think it would be great in the long run. I lived in Japan for some time as exchange student and I found that the Japanese struggle with interacting with other cultures because they are not exposed to them enough. Allowing more interaction through games like FFXIV would be a small step in changing that in my opinion. And EU servers are already a great example of how many different cultures with different languages can play together no problem and have fun. I'm all here for it!
EU is indeed a good example of multicultural coexistence but even though we use many different languages in our home countries most of us use English to communicate online⊠that will be harder for Japanese players to do, due to the poor state of English education there and the isolation they have to their own websites/games online. But it is a challenge worth taking on in my opinion đ.
That would be nice, worse case is people will just keep to themselves and keep mingling with other language speakers to a minimum. Like what happened to exchange students in my own school. We won't know until we try.
Yoshi-P: "On Jan 26, THROW WIDE THE GATES!"
Are we going to get more fail guides?
Yeah spot on about the house
Great vid as always
Im just happy to finally be able to play.
The world i play on gets, at most, 300-500 queues at the peak 6-11 PM EST times. the rest of the day its the usual 30 queue that we were getting pre-expansion. Yes, I did not mention which server :P
I don't get high queues anymore. The highest I've gotten this week and last week was 157 and shortest was 5. I am in a US server
Same here our queue s are back to normal on Primal I assume for US everyone's on Aether and it's still packed there
I'm on NA now but started on EU with a friend. I live in the US and she lives in the UK so eventually, our times just stopped lining up so I transferred. I was really hoping for cross-region travel, but I get where they're coming from. Maybe one day!
Iâm curious about the macros Zepla is talking about. Like I have macros to quickly switch jobs and stuff, but it sounds like itâs different in EU?
Its raid macros for strats
Having avoided PF really until ShB Ex trials, it was a little weird at first joining SoS Ex and seeing people lining up around clock spots on a waymark. When there's pretty much one dominant strat and all you need is to know your designated location and Light Party, doing the waymark system is super fast and easier to absorb than reading a wall of text/macro, since you get to visualize your spot around the boss and kind of reset your muscle memory from a previous party. Also, being a controller player, any time I can avoid having to grab my mouse and resize the chat window so a macro is visible, the better. Once fights are on farm, the macro just feels like an over-explanation that isn't necessary.
I've noticed that your videos are so quiet that I've been having to tripling my normal volume levels.
It's nice to hear that they're expanding NA and resuming sales, they're gonna need the money for them new servers.
As an oce player, just excited to get a house, the ping is ok on JP (blood weapon and double weave aside) but those Kugane houses are so aesthetic and I want
As an American that plays on EU but started on NA, I prefer the marker system. Generally the visual representation of "I stand here relative to these other people" compared to H2/R2 is easier. Fortunately I'm in a static and we don't do either method normally, but it sure as hell confused me the first time I joined a party finder and I had to take a screenshot to remember where the hell I'm going
The Omega world at the Chaos DC (EU) has less than 40 in queue. At peak hours it was at around 50-60, but the congestion in the world is pretty much fixed. Idk why, but I am not complaining
Iâve barely seen any congestion in Primal (Excalibur) for awhile now
I love Yoshi-P's write-ups. He knows how to keep a community informed and that alone prevents toxic elitism because everyone gets access to this knowledge. Rumors tend to cause divisions in groups due to the lack of verified sources, therefore placing players in the camps of ideas they subscribe to.
What is written up by Yoshi-P is plain as day and, it is verifiable. There might be situations that may cause the adjustment of the roadmap in the future, but it something he will address us with if said changes occur. Then again more information and less division. The epitome of community management.
Iâm excited to see more NA servers. My friend on the free trial hasnât been able to make a character in NA and itâs bumming us out not being able to play together.
On EU Chaos Spriggan we haven't had congestion since a week after the raids released. Even right after the raids it was maybe a day of 500 queue and then back down.
Could definitely be in-game economy and loot culture that halts some cross-region visitation options for sure, never considered that.
Play etiquette seems to vary wildly as well. Recently a large amount of Chinese users who were frustrated with the censors three month delay on the expansion release used VPNs to play on JP servers, which the previous residents werenât super happy about. I donât know the exact details but apparently Chinese player culture has a lot of aspects people outside of the region find problematic involving pulling intensity and allowing no quarter for teammates when it comes to catching up. This resulted in players speaking chinese in the JP server being flagged by users and banned en-masse per Squareâs rules. This in turn led to a lot of Chinese players being pissed off, including about how this only seemed to apply to people speaking Chinese and not English, despite the fact that both regions were supposed to stick to their own data centers.
Keep in mind this is just what I could gather from a bunch of discussion around the topic so I canât vouch for 100% accuracy cuz Iâm sure Iâve forgotten important details.
odd question, but could you please talk about the audio bug that's been happening since 6.0? i've had my game on mute for a month at this point, I haven't heard anyone speak up on it.

As a Black Mage its important that we can be a major contributing factor in raids and instances. I mean those instances with constant aoes and line damage which make it very hard to even get off any damage. Unlike more mobile DPS classes that can run and gun on the move, the Black Mage doesn't possess that trait so i do hope we get these damage buffs.
I dont think its just cultural difference between the centers. I heard the word Economic, meaning travellers would be able to carry over items that may impact the economy of the other centers..
couldn't they just make the MB unavailable for visitors from other DCs? They did say there'll be more restrictions so maybe that's gonna be one of them
maybe like you say na/eu region visit needs to be a thing at the very least id love to play to some of my friends in the US from time to time and dont really want to make an alt the queues have deffo got better though even though today was a friday the queue on my server was non exisitant but usually its like 1200-1500 between 5pm and 9pm
On Crystal the queues are a fraction of what they are on Primal or Aether.
"Maybe people in Oceania will be able to play Machinist now" -- And here I am, in South America, crying...

Great communications from Yoshi san and the team as always. I'm not sure that culture clash will be too much of an issue. The EU data centres already function well with people from many different nations and cultures, speaking a wide variety of different languages.
The main issue with world travel is that you can interact with marketboards as a buyer. As a seller, you have no visibility on prices so itâs quite annoying.
I need data centre travel between regions q_q I live in Canada and play on EU because my friends who also play live in European countries, but over 75% of the time I'm playing when they're offline/asleep and my ping makes the game really frustrating at times.
super happy about Oceanic servers :D
Staggeringly Off-Topic (and possibly inappropriate) question, so I genuinely apologize. However, I didn't know how else to get this information...... But I'm new and wondering if there is a "k_nk-friendly," "Power-Exch__ge friendly," and/or "Do__e/S_b friendly" Server(s) and/or Guilds/Free Companies?
I don't know if opening the Oceanic DC will relieve things as much as they hope, especially with news that DC travel wouldn't immediately involve being able to visit other DC regions. Some people that can't play at all due to lag, sure they will move, people without friends might yeah. But I know a few people already who have no plans to move and never did. People who are getting by and have made connections might not jump on it right away with the other news. That along with the housing stuff you brought up.
FINALLY! WOO!
Im holding off for lost ark and if it just doesnt fit what i want then ill be over to see yall in about 2 months. Im curious though if i come in will i understand the lore since im like 8 years behind or more.
Yes, i will finally be able to buy the game and start playing !!
Probably the biggest thing that I have noticed since moving from Exodus to Asura is that when people group up for parties whether it is in PF, dungeons, and places like Eureka/Bozja people say "Hello" and when the instance is complete, people say some sort of good bye message. Limsa is still Limsa...but another thing I have also noticed is no one shout/yell chats for recruitment...about the only time I see it being used is for announcing world boss or hunt train info...then there is the macro thing for raids...for starters don't expect a translation...the other thing is strats...If you run PF, most listings will have a description of where the party is at in terms of prog, the strat being used (and it is often in shorthand). There are EN Discord servers over here that have english translations for macros and explanations for JP strats...There are a good number of EN speaking players in JP...most are on Elemental because of Tonberry...Mana which is the DC I am on has their fair share of EN players....I am not sure about the other DCs though...I won't lie...it was quite daunting moving over here, but I am used to it now...plus my latency is way better...but yeah it was a culture shock coming from NA to JP...(I do have other complaints, but they are petty so I won't bother mentioning them...LOL)
Everyone greets and says goodbye on Crystal DC. Same AFAIK on Aether. It's just Primal where people don't talk as much it seems.
@@Longlius eh I'm on a Primal server and people chat all the time. I think this difference might be overstated.
I've actually been looking for a way to make a macro for rezing downed players. I keep swift cast and rez close together, so that I can quickly input the commands one after the other but, It'd be nice if I could eliminate the scrolling through the party list. I know clicking on the player should be faster. But not on the PS4 Controller. Using the touch pad to move the mouse, is remarkably unconfortable, and I'd actually loose time over simply scrolling the party list.
mI got the cookbook for yule this year so honestly the que times haven't been that bad. it has given me the time to read and also to watch guides to up comming raids and trials. Though to be honest as a WoWfugee Yoshi-p would have to screw up pretty badly to get me to stop playing. All i can remember from WoW was the feeling of logging into FFXIV for the first time and just the look of he world made me feel like blizzard was ripping me off
it also helps that bunny boys are a thing now and my character fits me
I don't think it is a cultural thingy that they are referring to in waiting for cross region visits. I think they are more worried about arbitrage of the in-game economy. So it makes sense that they'll look at smaller scale visits first within JP/NA/EU, see if there's a huge impact to the economy before going ahead. If there is, we might see visits but no MB access at all for example.
audio is very low in this video :(
Anyone know if this game will come to Xbox this year?
I really hope we can visit different dc soon, Iâm in elemental and although itâs awesome here I wish to see the bigger rp communities in Eu/na dc
If you want to see EU RP you should definitely visit Omega on Chaos DC. It's said to be the biggest rp server there but I lack hard numbers to compare. Lots of people from the other servers show up there to rp throughout the whole week afaik
@@Xyrenos Thats really cool, I hope the cross server visit will push through
Ok so I'm newish to the game (only just finishing stormblood now) and on NA servers. I use macros as a healer to target target so I can stay on a player and still do dps... is that the only macros you're talking about or are there other cool things I can do with macros that I'm not aware of?
On a lot of other data centers players will make a macro after they have figured out the entire fight that essentially lays out a game plan. Each person is assigned a role (D1-4 for DPS, H1/H2 for healers, MT/ST for tanks) and for each major mechanic requiring positions, the macro puts all those roles in the required position relative to the boss. Think of it like having a map; for each major mechanic, they have told you where to go. It provides consistency in the PF/DF and prevents the need for super lengthy explanations at the start of fights for things like extremes and savages. Using macro's in conjunction with waymarks usually means it doesn't take too long to teach people a fight and then consistently clear it.
@@jamesbaker208 nifty, but that feels like it would take some of the fun out of it. Then again that could just be me not really understanding the way the macros function.
@@ravenpaine87 Just to be clear, it doesn't do the fight for you. You still have to learn the movements and execute the mechanics correctly, the macro is just like a guide for where you should be for each mechanic. It just posts a block of text in the party chat. So its different to macro-ing actions, as it doesn't do anything other than write out text. It helps on JP servers because minimal english or JP knowledge is required to get an idea of what strategy is being used for the fight.
@@jamesbaker208 thanks, that makes a lot more sense
Look up "strat macro ffxiv" if you want to know what it's like.
Iâm on Mana, and the party finder can tend to be a bit....biased with statements like âJapanese only.â For things like prog that makes some sense; people want to communicate strats and canât do so if they donât speak the same language. However I see this for dumb stuff like farming and MSQ roulette....
Suddenly having a bunch of NA/EU come into JP and seeing that issue wonât look good for anyone. Thatâs just one thing I can think of is all though
I have friends in other regions. I want this if at all possible. Thank you
Yes everything
my big thing like i get the potential for cultual clash but with the timing with the raid teir and the loss of my house even tho i really wanna move to oceana for better ping im kinda gonna have to lose 1/2 my static and im gonna have to find a new one and potentaly go through prog again *cries in p3s* also my house is in a perfect spot and its all pretty and i really dont wanna lose it also i have a shit tonn of gill so with the gill transfer cap im gonna cripple my self unless i move early while they suspend the transfer limit so im kinda like .... it would have been great 2 months earlyer or 3-4 months later
