Jiri's greatest weapon is his unparalleled willpower and focus, he has many holes to his game, but his single mindedness and sheer intensity gets him out from impossible positions, and allows him to assert his will on the other fighter.
Sounds like he's John Wick
Having a chin made of steel helps too
It will catch up to him if he doesn’t close those holes.
Asset his will? Bit of a stretch
@@BushidoCodee ?
This fight was basically "old man strength" vs "zero quit"
Glover "old man strength" Teixeira vs. Jiri "zero quit" Prochazka

Who would have thought the LHW division could be interesting?
I don't remember a fight in which I sad to myself "oh god it's done" so many times. it was insane.
This reversals had me going I was like this is grappling lol
me at least once every minute: "IT'S OVER!!"
Bro atleast twice each round 🤣
Dude for real! Idk how many times Glover got in full mount, raining down punishment and me being like Jiri is fucked and the dude some how miraculously gets out of the position doing some rollie pollie move.
Seriously came here to make this exact comment.
Everyone was trying to tell me “This shouldn’t be a PPV, I shouldn’t buy it….. etc.” my response was “These are the kind of fight cards that end up being the most memorable.” I was definitely correct this time.
Yeah bro pretty much every fight was insane
@@italianstalian331 Literally from the first Early Prelims to the Main Event, every was either a clinic or a war. One of UFC's grestest events in recent memory.
Dana thanks you

I was that guy you described and I ate my words. From the undercard to main event it was one of the best events this year. I’m happy to admit I was wrong.
This fight was one of the most memorable moments I’ve had in my years of mma fandom

One for the ages... glad I saw it as it was happening. Delivered in spades
@@executivelifehacks6747 yes ma’am
It was true mma fight.
It’s one of the most unpredictable fights in UFC history
I’m glad you pointed out Jiri’s mistakes. Everyone understandably is focusing on the fifth round mistakes by Glover, but Jiri gave away rounds 2 and 4 by trying to follow Glover to the ground instead of standing back up
True tbh I need to rewatch 2 to see ihe actually lost bc he had Glover hurt mad times but bc the round ended w Glover on top we automatically said he won we gotta see that round again to me it was 2-2 headed to 5th but doenst matter bc Glover was def winning the 5th round
@@thehottamale2910 personally I agree with you that it was 2-2 but all three judges had it 3-1, and it’s their opinions that count
Jiri's craziness was his enemy because he had Glover very hurt and kept following him to the ground when he should've been more patient and picked him apart. The true true story here is that Jiri put himself in a big hole and was about to lose but found a way to win despite his own blunders.
jiri's his hair was getting in his eye. glover should of capitalized
Jiri needs to improve his fight IQ In future fights. The fact he kept going for the flying knee regardless of everytime he threw it he either got or almost got taken down was frustrating to watch at times
This was my first UFC event I attend live and it did not disappoint at all. The Singapore atmosphere was glorious and most of the fights overdelivered.
Same bro, was there too. Hope they host title events in future again!
that’s awesome
SAME I'm thanking my lucky stars
I envy you to witness it live... That was definitely the best card I have ever seen
Thats awesome.
I never expected this fight to be THAT GOOD, holy shit. It felt like a Pride FC fight, where both combatants were fighting each others heart out.
Indeed , and that singapore crowd last night reminds me of the japanese crowd of pride FC , which made the fights feel even more exciting
This aged well since JIri came out of rizin which is pride 2.0
It really did. The fight that comes to mind is _Shogun vs Lil Nog_ in Pride.
Jiri and Glover were just celebrating PRIDE FC month
@@publiusventidiusbassus1232 Amazing Comment
Jiri impressed me in round 1 when he first got taken down and mounted. He had the opportunity to give his back and risk a rear naked choke. But he chose to stay on his back and face the punches from a mounted Glover. A true heart of a warrior. What a fight!
What were those taps though?
@@PedroHISilva what
@@PedroHISilva It's to encourage movement and avoid staying in stalling positions.
@@PedroHISilva he can't punch or just grab to defend. Tapping like that was more of a distraction
As confirmation to my earlier statement. This was directly from an interview.
“I did that because I tried to push him, like to push him to give me more, give me more, show me more,” said Procházka. “Because I tried to make him (make) some action, and I wait for that action to do some (techniques) to reverse it. And that’s why I do I did that. Not for tapping, just for a strategy, but it was very dangerous. Now I realized that.
This was one of the greatest fights I have ever seen!
Glover is a absolute tank, hope he still has a bunch of fights and another title fight in his future❤👊🏼
I think he’s 1 fight away from a title, he deserves a fast shot after that fight

@Coming at you harder than a right f cking hook nah , young guy talent doesn’t mean shit
So dumb to think age has anything to do with winning or talent for that matter . Look at the age of practically every champion in history majority of them if not all but say Jones who was still 24 were not ‘young ‘ and none kf them got their with just talent .
@Coming at you harder than a right f cking hook who tf is on the rise in that division? Only ankalaev. I don’t think jiri will lose the belt anytime soon he doesn’t have the ground game dangers coming at him for a while especially with Rakic loss, so I think glover might fight him again the future. Half of the top 10 in LHW are bums compared to the top dogs it’s not a very stacked division. Glover can return to contender position within maybe two fights
Jiri's pure strength is incredible to see. seemed like he got out of some really bad positions just based on raw strength. I'm sure it had a lot to do with technique as well but the guy is built like a tank
It's also very interesting to see the difference between UFC and Rizin. Personally really hate the ring as compared to the cage. Fighter like Jiri is trully unleashed in the cage, while the small ring could really hamper him. Jiri also used the cage multiple times to explode away from under Glover. In Rizin when he had some of those moments where he was just getting ground and pounded, he could never do that...
Strikers tend to do better in rings, because of the small distance, fighters will almost always play within your range, but as far as grappling goes its basically a hindrance, things like cagewalking are essential to adjusting your position,
@David Welsh Glover definitely looked way bigger. They also supposedly had 1 more day to replenish after weight cut, which it seems Glover used to it's fullest.
This fight was insane because it went against everyone’s preconceived notion’s leading into it, and it changed momentum almost every 30 seconds for all 5 rounds.
People thought it would be over quickly, either by a KO from Jiri or a sub from Glover. Wrong.
They thought Glover’s chin was too far gone and wouldn’t be able to take big shots from Jiri. Wrong.
They thought it would be Jiri dominating standup and Glover dominating on the ground. Wrong.
Not only that, but Glover was often dominating standup, and it was Jiri who ended up getting the submission on the ground against an all time master in that discipline with 30 seconds left. Insane.
This was one of those fights that nobody saw coming in terms of intensity and drama. I was absolutely buzzing afterwards, it was one of the all time greatest fights of all time.
I mean the weasel was one of the main guys to say that
No, Glover was getting dominated in the standup until the 5th round when Jiri was gassed and didn't have the energy to go on the attack or slip Glover's punches.
What's even crazier, jiri prochazka is non-grappler and he submitted a bjj black belt.
Jiri was definitely winning most of the standup, Glover only really dominated the standup in the fifth round.
If ever there was a fitting description for "edge of my seat", this was it.
Glover is a beast, at 42 he is
still dominating young high caliber fighters 💪
That was the difference
@@thomasschieron4534 well if he was younger he wouldn’t be as good so keep making excuses

@@smhgaming3259 sorry buddy, I won’t argue with keyboard warriors ✌️😊
I've seen a lot of people who were saying that Jiri got dominated up until that submission. As in, not in the 5th round, but in the entire fight.
And, yes, Glover was WINNING, but anyone who says Jiri got dominated wasn't watching the same fight. Jiri clocked him so. many. times. throughout the fight that I really thought he was going to knock out Glover a few times. It was way closer than people were giving it credit for.
Most logical take
Yea bro each round was close, they would go back and forth
The body shots were nasty
he basically beat him in his own game. HE SUBMİTTED GLOVER ! I think a lot of people still dont realize how impressive this is.
Yeah Glover was up but that was back and fourth and extremely competitive. Unfortunate Glover made several mistakes in that last round and Jiris will to win is what got him the win. That fight is going in the UFC hall of fame without a doubt!
As someone from Czech Republic i had a heart attack about 6 thousand times during this fight
BULLSHIT! 👉😂🤭
Já taky bratře :D vykouřená celá krabička cigár a milion infarktů. Ale ten konec byl nádhernej :-) jeden z nejsilnějších zážitků v životě
You’re not giving Jiri the credit that he deserves. The reason Grover was so tired and Jiri was able to get out of the mount in Rd 5 was because of the devastating body shots that Jiri was landing through the fight. It wasn’t because Glover is “old and slow.”Glover even admitted to it in his octagon interview.
Those body shots were nasty.
Yes, Glover said that in the post-event interview.
to put things into realistic perspective. there would be no champion like jiri in 155 since charles is there. he's literally like the glover of 155. him being young with all the skill shows us all the difference we need to know. bottom line is that glover is old and he was tired very quickly irregardless of body shots.
The amount of back and forth just makes this fight of the year..
I think it's became my favourite fight of all time, constant back and forth, heart shown left and right and great story of old guard vs the new then add onto that a massive twist finish to end it all. True classic.

Nothing like Chael vs Silva. Chael dominated every minute of that fight until the last round.. It was a frustrating fight. Jiri vs Glover was an amazing back and forth
Glover is a better fighter than Jiri. Dare I say it.
When Glover had Jiri in that head and arm choke in the 4th round and Jiris arm was just dangling there. Then he reaches over, grabs that shit and and spins around. That was like a scene out of a movie

Olivera 1. Jiri 2.
One of the best fights I've ever seen in my 20 years watching MMA .. Jiri proved us all wrong. But honestly how much damage didnät he take though ? And, will it affect his upcoming fights.. Glover could've finished him several times. So impressed by both warriors. Glover is truly a legend and imo deserves insta rematch.
edit: with more jabs and leg kicks I believe jiri would've made it easy though.. He leveled so much from this fight and will be even better next fight
Glover gave up. He could have won several times. He just wants to retire and had no intention to keep defending
It was so frustrating in the later rounds how it looked like Glover was really hurting him with punches and then he would clinch up and go for a takedown. I dunno, I'm sure Glover knows what he's doing more than I do, but it seemed like he should have followed up and continued with strikes when he was really tagging him.
Jiri even tapped a few times during the fight. Also at the very end when Glover had dominant mount, he leaned into Jiri and said something like ITS OK NOW YOU CAN WIN NOW, then let himself get flipped over and let himself get choked out.
@@wadedewell Jesus christ lol

Yeah. Glover was clearly winning but the rounds were pretty even and the back and forth action was insane.
that's a great way of describing most of the rounds. When they started GnP-ing....I was like, "Oh my this is over" so many times
I was jaw dropped multiple times in this fight. I thought it was going to be over in almost every single round at one point. Still can't believe how Jiri submitted a BJJ black belt for the win with 30 seconds left. Fuckin incredible. Absolute fan of both fighters FOTY forsure right here.

Ridiculous fight. Both guys are legends.
When Jirî becomes older and more tactical he will be so hard to deal with.
Maybe. That hands down style needs young reaction times.
@@executivelifehacks6747 that's why I said more tactical
Magomed Ankalaev Smokes Him
yeah, I am thinking the same thing. At least from what I have seen, Lyoto Machida and Steven Thompson's speed of reaction, and movements were obviously slowed down after 3-5 years in UFC.
Jiri's style is supported by an extremely high level of focus and concentration, even good eyesight. These capabilities shrink as time goes on, no matter who.
I think the first thing Jiri might change is his KO mindset. He just can't KO his opponents every time, he just can't make every fight clean. Justin Gathjie is a good example. After being defeated badly twice in his early UFC fights, he transformed from the KO pursuer to a damage maker.
I bet 20$ on Jiri to win by submission just for the hell of it. It was +2600 on fan duel when i bet, ended up hitting 520$. One of the most exciting wins ive ever been a part of!!
That is outstanding!
Grats
U must have been so shocked when he sunk that choke in that shit came out of nowhere 🤣🤣
Nice, nothings better than winning a bet like that.
I was still going on telling my friends about how Weili Joanna 1 was the best fight I've seen and the rematch didn't disappoint when the bombs started flying and I ended up looking like the guy who claims every fight is the best he's seen.
But holy shit this was an epic back and forth with so much heart shown from both guys.
Weili vs Joanna I was one of the most entertaining fights for sure, and the rematch was also a good one. But man, Jiri vs Glover was on another level, it was like an action movie...
I have no idea why Glover didn’t just finish Jiri on his feet. When I seen him go for that guillotine I knew it was a huge mistake. Glover had the fight won. Great heart shown by Jiri though.
That's what I said, all glover had to do was keep punch him on out! & him shouldn't went for the submission him just should have pounded him out...
he was likely rocked and super exhausted. as much a seasoned veteran glover is, fight iq inevitably declines down the line when you absorb so many bombs. still, what a fighter! he almost had him. i hope for a rematch
@@RatafakTehPlachta he started gassing out in the 3rd, I’m surprised Glover was able to ride that second wind as well as he did. Felt like a fight from the movie ‘Warrior’ it was so over-the-top
He has better boxing, better tactics, and more experience. Unfortunately, as he himself said it, he gave it all... and it wasn't enough. In other words, his age is showing. When you're inching your way into your mid 40s and you're fighting a bigger, taller, stronger guy who is not even 30, the younger guy's lack of experience is more than made up for it by being so much fresher, younger, quicker in reflexes.
Jiri survived all of those full mounts and BJJ maneuvers where the BJJ master was in control simply because of the young man's strength, agility, and daring (turning his back to the old man, so he could get on his knees and get up, something Glover was able to take advantage of in most of his previous opponents)...
But here, Jiri gave the old man more than a few opportunities to sub him and Glover didn't have the necessary speed or reflexes any more...
I genuinely think it was a mistake due to exhaustion. But they both made a bunch of mistakes from the moment the bell rang which made the fight so entertaining. Respect to both warriors.

Hopefully, Dana sees the $$ opportunity in running back such an instant classic fight.
Jiri studies Myamoto Musashi, check out this Musashi quote and think about how Jiri fights when he's directly trying to finish his opponents: "The sure way to win thus, is to chase your opponent around in a confusing manner, causing him to leap aside, with your body held strongly and straight."
True that's exactly how he fights. King Mo has been the only one to KO Jiri when he's chasing forward like that
He takes way to much shots. Jon jones was way more balanced
@@regularstan6212 yeah people like Jones and Izzy are much more cautious about being hit. Jiri has good distance management too, but takes more risks and gets hit when he's swarming

Yes, many people said Jiri had a lot of holes, he should not use the flying knee, he should not chase Glover to the ground, etc...
But he won't be such a unique fighter without such recklessness.
Furthermore, MMA needs such recklessness to be evolved. Reckless was wrong yesterday but might be a new style tomorrow.
I think it's great the commentators argue with each other. Just like we do in our living rooms, rather than stroking each other's ego.
Y'all are not talking about one thing... Jiri's ground n pound, it's brutal, maybe one of the best I mean it's so powerfull relentless and accurate like in that first round when he got dominated at the end he almost got Glover, dangerous fkin guy
he was gonna ko him if he had 15 more seconds those were brutual.
Two things went opposite to all the predictions.
1. Jiri survived all of Glover's ground games
2. Glover survived all of Jiri's standing punches
Glover was seconds from keeping his belt. Can't believe he fought the next generation and gave him the fight of his life. So proud of Glover for doing what he did, I'm excited to see if he'll ever work for another title fight. Jiri is just a dog out here, I can't believe how much he got beaten down on the ground and eventually on the feet but still found a way to win. That's what championship caliber fighters do, they find a way to win so I'm happy to see him holding a belt

I was saying the same thing that DC was saying about Teixeira making a lot of fundamental positional mistakes with his ground game. @@soreekgh Khabib has a great mount, but had never done much with it, he's sort of content with just having the control. Only goes for a finish if the opponent feeds it to him. Even in Islam, he grapples with much more urgency. When Islam gets you down he is immediately going for something and working a finish, not working a control position. Same with Charles, Charles is working a finish the whole time on the ground, never staying in a single position and riding the opponent for 'control'.
Congratulations again mate... hands down the best MMA breakdowns.. wish you could put out more I'm bored with most the others. You are the 🐐
The thing with Jiri and the fundamentals, i personally believe his crazy unorthodox style of striking allows the moments of basic fundamentals to do better than normal. If he changes up his entire style to be tight and orthodox i dont think that would work for him. He needs a balance of his free form style AND tight clean strikes to keep the opponents unaware and to remain unpredictable

My anticipation for this card was massive and it paid off in every way. The prelims were fire, the main card was fire, and we were given a main event that passed Jones/Gus and Hendo/Shogun as the best LHW fight ever, maybe the single best fight ever considering the storylines and everything that was at stake. Absolutely crazy, no one could have predicted this is what was gonna happen in the fight 🤯🤯🤯
Man I'm so disappointed in you! You did not talk about what a tank glover was. You should give him way more credit than you gave jiri, glover literally won the entire fight except for that last mistake
He gave up, Jiri didnt.
Nah that ain’t it, Jiri did bad and still won
Maybe its about time for YOU to put out video praising what a tank Glover was - seems like you need it for some reason.. btw. watched some sprinters not that long ago, dude was in the lead the whole time and at the finish line he was overtaken.. its almost like you count the rabbits when the hunt is over.
He didn’t win the entire fight except for the last mistake lol wtf. He was up on scorecards I’m sure but it was back and forth and he was tagged multiple times
For what this fight lacked in fight IQ, it made up for in heart. Jiri is a beast.
Do you think Rose Namajunas has a good fight IQ?
Jiri was clearly powering up the right hand to later choke out Glover... such a smart move to use that power up.
One of best LHW title fights of all time! Same level with JBJ-Gus 1. It was crazy action from start to finish.
Jiri has been hurt in all of his ufc fights, and was able to pull out a KO, i don't think Glover made a mistake trying to get him to the ground after hurting him, cuz he was dominating the ground game in all of the other rounds.
And of course, glover could just pass the time on top of Jiri, but the assassin instinct said that he should be able to finish Jiri, and that is the mistake i belive he made
Idk about y’all but I think that’s the best fight I’ve ever seen and for it to end like that me and my brother were left speechless
There was a moment when Jiri (I think it was round 1 ? I don't remember) looked like he tapped when Glover was in top position
This is the 1st fight that I've watched where I was so caught up in the back-and-forth action, that when the 5th round came around I had no clue who was winning the fight. Amazing fight!!
What a crazy fight, i had no idea who would win at any point in the fight.
like most i didn't want either fighters to lose the fight, but Glover winning most of the rounds then got tapped with 30 seconds remaining sucks so bad man. Dang it
Jiri is a great athlete and I was deeply inspired my Glover man. 42 years old. You can't fathom how difficult it must be to rise to the apex of this sport at 42 and become a champion. True inspiration on both men's parts
One of the best fights I've even seen...incredible from both fighters.
I was mind-blown when I woke up this morning and saw the result and the round in which it finished, this is why I love watching MMA. They should book Jiri vs Jan in Prague or Warsaw
