I have a lot of respect for someone who can film 11:37 worth of content flawlessly in one take.
At 4:21 there is a flaw...
@@mattmatt222333 lol I had to check, one slight slight word stumble but still a great job.
@@erictalkington5674 Haha ya I love freiburger
He should be a used car salesmen
10:05 he is so clean with it
Oh man, that brings back memories...had a 72 Sattelite, and was working on a 71 Roadrunner back in 90 when I had to go off to the Gulf War, my ex sold my Roadrunner....I sold my ex soon after!
you shouldve sold her to a grave digger to practice burying her alive, sounds like she desperately needs a good ,long dirt nap.
Oh, she got what she deserved...nothing! ;)
ricardo rocha Would have been nice if he would have taken her off my hands but he was a cheapskate dirtbag!
Sgt Bones Yessir! Glad to hear you got some redemption by dumping her afterwards. Sorry to hear you lost your car :(
One day I will get another one, paint it Petty Blue and have fun with it till I die and give it to my son!
The amount of knowledge is just fucking insane.

GETTIN ALL LEARNED UP IN THIS BEYOTCH
I mean, when you know the rear roadrunner sticker was replaced a few inches off from the original, we're talking about pure expertise. This car is amazing. I know you say that $11k is a lot of money but the history you got for it is worth many times that. Just an amazing vehicle that purists could stare at all day!
@@cyearly9426 Right on !
Wait what? People think this thing is ugly? This is like one of the best looking American muscle cars ever made.
Speedy Gonzales I agree
Speedy Gonzales nah
It's nice but can't compare to the 60s road runners and superbees. And honestly 1973 and earlier muscle cars starting going downhill on looks and big engines with big horsepower. Best ten year period was from 1962 to 1972. But mainly 1966 to 1972.
Dazy Duke drove one before the Jeep.
along with the 1970 super bee
I actually really like that body styling but thats just my opinion
My 69 Roadrunner has the same turned down tailpipes
71 roadrunner is a ugly body style. The last good year was 1970 then changed to the ugly body.
@@christopherarnett2851 no
Gtx breh
Christopher Arnett I would still kill to have one.
I don't think it's ugly at all - probably my favourite looking American car.
one of my favorite mopars of all time
Roadrunners will always have a special place in my heart my dad drag raced 1969 roadrunner for over 20 years good times
That’s awesome.
The Road Runner is one of my favorite cars!
I really like the grill shaping and I think it's a good looking car.
I had a '71 satellite Sebring plus, was my 1st car. got it in '84 for $1,500! was an inviolet car, 383 orig. but had a '74 popo 440 & 3.55 8 3/4" sg, ac, pw, am/fm stereo, blk int w/white buckets. fast and great handling cruiser. keep your '71 forever, Mr. F! p.s. mine had the orig. carter TQ..put on an edelbrock avs copy! 850 cfm!
Man! This was 3 yrs ago??
Time flies.
I loved the 71's.....just beautiful.
I really like the '71 &'72 body stlye. Great car David!
Yep, me too…of course I am now an owner of a ‘71 curious yellow GTX😊
School start about 30 minuet again and i'm here watching roadkill extra
If that 383 has never been rebuilt you should be looking at the timing chain and cam gear! My '69 had a nylon over
aluminum gear that stripped the teeth and clogged the oil pickup!
Beautiful car, love those eliminator mag wheels, so 70's, perfect!
how can anyone say that's ugly
Because it is ugly, well not that ugly, but I like the older ones, 1968-70'.
It's not ugly--it's really, really ugly : - )
how? it's more aerodynamic, and it hasn't lost any of the performance of it's predecessors. if you gotta hate one, hate the 73
jsplicer9 If you see one in person they look and handle like a boat. knew someone who had a yellow one "Banana Boat". Still a nice car though.
I know that boat handling is common to most muscle cars...was the previous boxy generation a better overall package?
So this car was ordered with the half vinyl roof...but isn't it possible that they matched dented cars to custom order sheets? It seems like the custom order isn't mutually exclusive to the lore.
Regardless, this is one amazing Mopar. The '71-'72 B-bodies are wildly under appreciated in my opinion. I can't wait to see where this goes.
My thoughts exactly. Not a thing wrong with the car,, but as a manufacturer, why spend to repair a minor flaw when you know you could sell it with that minor flaw covered as an option. It's not detrimental to the car, just something that would catch the eye in a reflection. Good business sense.
and..go she did. as in sold!
still freaked David sold this beaut!
now i hear he has what..a 72 Charger?
Also v cool..but he shudda kept the road runner.
Great car, great project... thanks for sharing, Dave!
Nice lines on that year Dave, and I liked the way you went through all it's options. There really isn't a bad angle anywhere. I love that front end. I'm not really a Mopar guy but I would love to have that in my driveway
my OCD wanna kill that empty antenna hole on the front right fender.
That was bugging the shit out of me too!!!! LOL!
You're a fucking idiot lmao
...and the sticker misplaced on the back !!! Grrrr... ;P
off to the shrink with you, figure out why insignificant things bother you.
who gives a rats ass whether theres an antenna or not.
trillriff-axegrinder bro...do you even car?
That is an absolutely beautiful car. I almost bought one almost like it in high school, but couldn't come up with the money. I wound up with a '70 base Challenger 318/auto, green with a white vinyl top, black interior, and real Fenton 5 spoke mag wheels. I love both Roadrunner body styles, but believe they ruined the front end in 1973. I would replace the vinyl top, have the seats redone, and at least have those tires turned around with the white letters out. I would prefer BFG Radial T/As Oh, and I'd also install the original 49 state exhaust tips on it. If it is all original, expect every single suspension bushing to be rotted away, bad ball joints and steering linkage. My Challenger had all those problems with only 56,000 miles on it, and it was only 5 years old when I bought it in 1975.
I had a 1970 440 SIXPACK Challenger got it in high school. 50,000 miles still under factory warrantee. Like new. Auto, 4:10 Dana. Racing green with black vinyl top and the rubber burning Bee stickers in the rear windows. Those were the days. Oh yeah. Price $1600 bucks.
I agree completely. Most people, including myself prefer 1968-1970 as our favorite B-body cars and 1971-1972 have acceptional styling and still look great, but there's just a stopping point "wtf no!" when you see a 1973. Same here.
I had a '71 Satellite Sebring Plus that I bought in '74. Loved the look of the car it was silver gray with the black landau roof. It came with 318 & automatic, cloth bucket seats console with the "slap stick shifter" power steering & power disc brakes. I replaced the rally wheels with aluminum mags that looked very similar to the ones on your Roadrunner.
brings back some good memories. Love it!
Wtf am I doing its 5am

Hector Luna i feel you its 5:43am what are we doing 😂
i dont even know ima go bed now probably

My experience with California is that $11000 barely buys lunch.
I’m confused on how he found and bought a 383 big block 71 roadrunner for 11k can’t even find a decent satellite for that
Thank you Brian. Car is in good hands [and these are fun to drive]..
I love listening to this dude talk about cars!
I love that car, maybe one day I can find a cuda in that shape
The 71 Roadruner GTX is has been my favorite car since I was 3 yares old, 'cause my dad gave me a yellow HotWeels GTX, and i still having it (but I had to repait it)
Nice, guess what ? I just purchased a curious yellow ‘71 Plymouth GTX…😊
@@bigolow641 well done! Hope it's every bit as fun as it looks
My actual dream car (well okay I'd like a Superbird but, you know, realistic goals).
Really cool to see David school me on all the intricacies of this car's options. Super cool.
I like it, but my favorite is still the 68/69 body. Absolutely love the Deep Dish Slotted Mags...
THAT'S supposed to be ugly? psshhh I'll take 4 then
It's ugly to me cuz it's a 2 door
Daisy Duke had one
Beautiful! And the car wasn't bad looking either. LOL
"The fuselage", that's badass I love the 70's. I have two '72 Mustang's I've passed on to my son, he's working on them little by little, yes they both run very well.
The "fuselage" body was the greatest! The slick extension of what the 1970 body style was. Made love many times in the back of my old 72.
Meh, I would go for the 4 speed...or a more modern 5 or 6 speed option. It's not a super bird or anything, mod it and enjoy it man.
No class
The point is to enjoy it, it's not a super rare model. If he really wanted a manual, make it a manual, if he wants some sort of gas mileage on the highway, get a 5 or 6 speed. shit's not rocket science. Make it a "meh" resto-mod where it looks great from 20' and not bad up close but not perfect so if it gets a small scratch here and there, not a big deal, but you can have a shit ton of fun in it.
TurboMitsubishi I’m feeling the same way about my ‘79 Trans Am at the moment. It’s not crazy rare and all I can think about is how dope it’d be with a 4 speed manual conversion, think I might do that this summer
Joyeux Noël Merry Christmas 🎄⛄love América ❤❤ je suis français et j'adore vos vidéos
In 1975-76, I had a '71 Road Runner with 383 automatic & 4 barrel. It was a bluish gray color inside & out. Wish I had it back.
Love the look of that car from all angles 👍
It's a nice car it is not ugly to my eyes.
Isn't that body the same as the Plymouth GTX? I love the GTX...
Brap Brap i believe it is, didnt the Satelite have this body style as well?
bighgaming yes...the satellite was the base model starting in 68 with the satellite belvedere...the sport satellite, (sebring and sebring plus 71-74) GTX and Roadrunner were a package added to the base model
Brap Brap Yep,Satellite,Roadrunner,GTX are on the same body.
Brap Brap yes the road runner and gtx shared the same body style they closely resemble the dodge chargers from 68 to 74.
Yes, the Satellite/Road Runner/GTX and Coronet/Superbee/Charger are the B-body car.
Challenger and Barracuda/'Cuda the E-body
Camaro, Firebird/Trans Am F-body
Tempest/Le Mans/GTO, Malibu/Malibu Chevelle/Chevelle SS, Cutlass 442, Skylark/GSX all the A-body car
Those shapeless garbage can GNX/Grand National cars from the 80s are the G-body cars
This one of my favorite Mopars. I absolutely love the jet fighter nose. Similarly the 70-72 Firebird Formula's are my favorite F-bodies
Had a `71 myself in 1980. Bright hemi orange ext & black int. Had 383 Magnum, fully functional air grabber, and bench seat with pistol-grip 4-speed. Fun highway car with 271`s
Awesome car...nice, but not too nice.
71-72 are the prettiest but good god they ALL need 72 back bumpers. just the meanest assend of all time
Useful Entertainment Hahahaha,Yep: That's a Great Suggestion Friend. I like how they did the 72 Taillight,it did look *so* cool!
ALWAYS thought the '72 bumper / taillight opening should carry exhaust tips somehow.
William Boardman you mean like through the tail light holes?
Useful Entertainment Yes. lower portion
William Boardman ohh I know what you mean
I had a 71 roadrunner 383 four speed (long handle pistol grip wrapping around the factory bench seat). Citron Yella. Factory Strobe stripe. 323 gears in the rear end. No A/C. A few dents, no rubber boot on the shifter, but I was 18 yrs old. $1650. Craig Powerplay was the only modification, for listening to Led Zeppelin II on 8 track. Driving it in winter. RM23N1R1 was the only part of serial number I remember.
my avatar, probably speaks VOLUMES of how much I LOVE your car Freiburger!
congrats!
wheel and tires look great btw!!
My dream car is a 70's ss Chevelle or 67 Impala, 4-door. Sadly both are way out of my reach
Have you seen the $$ for a Chevelle these days ?? Yeeeeesh !!! ;P
Edward Nappe jr. I started saving for my dream car (1966 Gto) when I was 16... I finally got her when I was 19, paid 10,000 cash. May not sound like a lot, but at the time I was unloading trucks at Kmart. Im 29 now and sill have her. Wheres there's a will, there's a way!
go for a Monte there cheaper and parts aren't too hard to come by
you just have to start saving. When i was 16 i wanted a mustang and i only spent money on gas (i wouldnt even buy a one dollar drink) took me 6 months of working 6 days a week and mowing yards when i wasnt working, and i gave up my entire summer because i was always working. All my freinds told me i was wasting my time and i would never get but now they all argue about who has to sit in the back seats of my 68 mustang
Think big. Dont dream big. Thinking gets wheels moving! You'll reach your goals.
That could still be true with the "X" even if it was custom ordered. They just took a car that had a flaw in the roof and used that to fill the custom order. Just like the TX9 cars. Only the most flawless examples got painted black and whenever they got a dead straight body it was almost certain to be painted black.
I was told by an old guy that worked at the Belvidere plant that the X on the roof just meant that the car was getting a vinyl roof period. He didn't mention anything about paint or body defects. What's interesting to me, is as a sign of the times, most Chrysler products in the mid to late 70s came 'standard' with some sort of vinyl roof so that they didn't have to do a good job blending the roof to the A or B pillars, just stuff a ton of seam sealer in the cracks and paint right over it.
X is probably indicative of a vinyl top, not dents.
Great share thanks for the tour.
Mr. Freiburger’s so knowledgable, and that's hella cool.
7:07 Do you use American flag as a seat cover??
Regarding highway cruising: How about a Gear Vendors like on your Super Bee? I know that they are bit pricey, but is it possible to get a used one?
Prolly couse the seat is so worn that he had to put a blanket/cover on it and that was the only one he had at the time. Knowing how freiburger is he prolly don't bother changing it until he get the seats done.
mibars It's a blanket.
Nothing like the old muscle..kinda jelly ova here...
I had that exact car when I was 16. The half vinyl roof makes the car!
i love davids taste in automobiles.everytime i see any car he had a hand in i say thats exactly how i like it.i can see why he is wher he is in the industry.
in '96 i could have got a '69 charger no interior dead 440 or a freshly plum crazy painted '69 road runner dead 440 for $1500 at a place in chico ca called pauls auto wrecking. i didnt get either one. im the idiot of the day folks. just thought id share it.
OK, try this lol. About the same year I drove past a DeLorean in the UK for 399 pounds (about $490)...there, hope you feel better !
How about me? i'm a bigger dummy. I had a 70 amx 390 4 speed. I cannabalized the 70 to put parts on
my 69 and called the wrecking yard to haul away the mostly intact 70. The year was 1977.
You all have good company, in 1995 I had the chance to buy a drivable 68 charger for $500 and passed on it. I had second thoughts, went back to buy it 3 days later and it was gone. DAMN IT !!!!
And me , passed up a 65 Riviera GS dual quad AND a 67 GrandPrix 428 4 speed in driver condition for 1000.00 for both . 1985 . Did not however pass on the 300 G w/ 51 k original for 2500.00 . That thing was a beast .
ratrodramblin i couldve had a 66 mustang gt350 in 1991 for $4500! i was only 15 at the time and was trying to get my parents to buy it for me but my mom said no way! lol
why don't you just install the overdrive transmission extension to get 2 extra gears. Since it is an automatic I think it can be done
Because a Gear Vendor's is like 5 grand and a set of rear gears is about $300.
Yeah but they loose torque throughout the gears. Aren't they like 1500 extension
ricardo rocha
No. A Gear Vendor's overdrive box (or extension) is like $5k and you only get a .80 over drove ratio out of them. You're correct that you lose torque multiplication by swapping to higher gears, but that's the trade-off he made.
A gear swap is much more affordable for what David wants out of that car. Plus swapping gears and 3rd member in a 9 3/4" is about a 40 minute job if he ever changes his mind. You also have to keep in mind that he has plenty of other cars that are fast, like the Crusher Camaro, the F Bomb, the Muscle Truck, etc, etc. He just wants that one to be a cruiser.
its easier to just put a a518 in it. its a 727 with an electronic overdrive.
Frigglebiscuit can I put that on a 4l60e
Gorgeous! My 71 coronet wears 2015 18 inch cop car wheels. 255 50 18 fit fronts great and I pull turns that my friends 2016 charger rt slides through. Lx leathers seats from 06 ish 300 look great in these. I painted mine with black dye, added a bit of aluminum trim and a light welded seat/console frame so I drilled no new holes in my car. The back seat took a day of tinkering. Using only factory mounting on the car, the look just right. 2 Bose 5.25" subs from a house sub fitted into 2 transmission line under rear seat boxes fill out light weight low budget sound. All second hand bits. No cutting or drilling. Nag1 is next step
I really hope I can find one of these some day. This car is awesome.
Of course there's no rust: it's California!

Damn Dave! Identical to the one I had after high school except mine had the Go Wing on the deck lid and the Machinegun Exhaust Tips. Otherwise I'm having a flashback. Even the aluminum slotted wheels. Mine had a fairly stout 440/auto. combo with an 8 3/4 rear w/Sure Grip & 3.23 gears. You did great getting this.

Love this episode. Thanks.
I finished watching roadkill garage on motor trend . & every other roadkill show lol love the content bro
Hey there guys at motor trend. Idk if you read these comments. And I can only speak for myself but I do feel a lot of people may agree with me. I've always loved roadkill and David & Mike but paying to subscribe to motor trend one demand just to see these shows is kinda shitty !!!! I , like many others don't have "extra" money all the time to pay for these shows. I understand that part of that money helps to pay Mike & David for their hard work. But for some of us it's hard. Specially for me being injured with a broken spine and disabled at the moment. So not being able to work means I don't have extra money. Anyways I just thought I would share that with you guys and show at least one example of why some people don't pay to see the shows. I wish I could pay specially to support these guys. But I can't. Either way I do show my love and support here on CZcams as I have for a long time now. So keep up the great work boys 👍🏻👍🏻👊🏻👊🏻 and Marry Christmas to everyone reading this 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Peach Life I hear you, I broke my neck and back c2 same as the one that took Earnhardt, superman etc. was denied disability, managed to go back to work and had a truck flip on me and they denied me again! I guess I'll write it off as white priveledge! Owned several tons of 383's and loved them tough old beasts.
Baron Fritz Von Shlitz dang man I'm really sorry to hear about all that. That's so messed up and not fair !!!! I hope one day soon you get better man 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 and I hope you have a good and safe Christmas 🙏🏻🙏🏻👊🏻👊🏻
Peach Life Thanks same to all of you! It just people like Mrs Obama saying everything is hopeless makes me ill. gonna get me another 383 somehow and HOPE I don't crash it!
Baron Fritz Von Shlitz nice man. I hope you do get it. And yeah I really hope you don't crash it that would not be good. Anyways man. Keep your head up and keep fighting the good fight. One day us good guys will get our chance to "shine" 🙏🏻🙏🏻👊🏻👊🏻
Peach Life Well, growing up in a heavy collision body shop had its perks, i was working in a shop where I would have one of the el Camino's (7) over the years on the frame rack every other weekend and the owners son came in and said " Damn!, is that thing made out of rubber?"Merry Christmas everyone!
I'm not paying dodge to watch videos about dodge.
pdgeman, it's a Plymouth
pdgeman no difference
pdgeman - You know they don't sell those anymore.
Aye! They should be paying US to watch these!
then dont.
I'll take that any time you want to get rid of it, I had a 1977 ROAD RUNNER VOLARE . LOVED IT! ROAD RUNNER RED-ORANGE!
I love the car, the wheels are beautiful
thanks for sharing
much prefer the 1969-1970 look. The post 1970 fastback Road Runners are not as awesome
71-72 Road runner is no way ugly. Better looking that the 60's road runner.
anthony lach I dig both.. great looking cars in my opinion
eye of the beholder
the all winners now
now you are being stupid, give your fucking head a shake idiot.
big daddio Have you done it yet. You should numbnuts.
Wow! Great episode.
Thank you Mike for letting me know.
this car was looking mean in the fast 8 trailer... they are kinda ugly but in a pitbull kind of way...
Invincible Extremes Muscle Cars Garage That was a 1972 GTX
Not much out there, that is more American about this car, so would you rather him use a Mexican flag? The flag suits the car perfectly!
Damn that's awesome love roadkill man 🙌🏽
Nice!!! Love road kill and Frieburger!!!!!! You rock David!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please stop using American flag as seat cover
Its a blanket way to heavy a cloth to be a Flag. You can tell by the way it folds. Seats pretty torn up for the mileage IMHO.
Appreciate the sentiment but, if that's the worst thing done to the flag it's all good. Besides my take on Freiberger is wouldn't do that. Out of respect, seriously...
roger depew No, inwouldnt
it is good to cushion your ass with, why the hostility?
Good thing that its a blanket with an American flag print! Crisis averted!
Blanket, got the same one.
extremely lame that you have to pay to watch your show now...........
Fritzkocher Roadkill is free on CZcams every month as it always has been
David Freiburger
Oh ok I thought you stopped doing that because you went to only youtube red or something. David I hope you have one hell of a Christmas my friend! Love roadkill and hope to see many more episodes! One day I hope to meet ya!!!! Ho Ho Ho!!!!!

Fritzkocher yeah.... I'm pretty dissapointed. at least put ur new eps on netflix or something. I've been waiting roadkill........
pbfloyd13 lol ikr.... always happens when channels reply back to you. they instantly become civilized once they get a reply back. I just lol
We need "episodes" like this for every roadkill vehicle!
Sprotdude17 I've don't them for a lot of the cars, but they are on MTOD
David Freiburger I got a subscription yesterday!
I’ve always loved that body style. Great car
1968-1970 Road Runner > 1971 Road Runner (Too uGly!)
I would not say it's ugly, it's just less beautiful than the 1968-70'.
Shane Williams yea
your opinon
Barack Smith Woah calm down there cowboy.
Barack Smith yet another opinion.
Tired of seeing Freiburger's cars. You guys must have no budget whatsoever.
Then why did you click on a video that's all about Freiburger's car?
Ronny Jasper Hahahaha,Exactly. He's an idiot.
Had an uncle use one of these as his under cover car in the 70's. If your deep under cover what a cool car to use.
My favorite car a 71 Plymouth GTX. I had a 73 Road Runner.
That is my favorite model Roadrunner. A lot of people I've talked to like the 60's models better but this is my favorite! I believe in the second Shaft movie he drove on like this red with black vinyl top. Loved it ever since.
Freiburger's Roadrunner impression is spot on.
Ahh mopar /Jeep guy:) I understand your love for the car,I love mopar and Jeeps too no matter what they came from the factory with :)
I fell in LOVE with that body style as a kid! I'd so love to be the curator of your Roadrunner!
Gorgeous car!
I could listen to Frieburger talk about cars all day
my very first car was a 73 road runner, tb3 blue with a full white vinyl top on it, slapstick console, buckets, and that monstrous (HA!) 318 that i never did manage to kill. ive always had a soft spot for these cars. my folks have a 72 sebring plus that i would REALLY like to get from them to build some day, but who knows!
one of my favourite body styles. cool sleeky muscle car , a jumbo jet without wings
I had a 72 satelite very nice ride only 318 incher but so smooth to drive and low fuel consumption
Perfect rims for that car man!!!
One of the best looking cars of that era! Those things are slick!
thanks to the roadkill guys, i am slowly starting to like old mopar.
Merry Christmas Dave. cheers.
