    I love it when I pick up on another man's trash, and turn it into a treasure. There's just something quite satisfying about bringing a dead, neglected piece of equipment back to life!!

      Same here. I tell people that I am a bottom feeder. Even my house was made from secondhand material. Not junk but architectural salvage.

    Mine has two belts on it and it works fine. I just use the range selector when forward and reverse is in neutral. I guess I am confused about the two belt comment. Thank you for sharing all of your knowledge!

    • @KevinKalden
      @KevinKalden  Před 4 měsíci

      Each pulley has two different sizes of sheaves that the belts ride in. So one belt is trying to move the second pulley fast and the other belt is trying to move it slow. Since the pulley can not move fast and slow at the same time it will be locked up. You must have a horse 1 which both pulleys were the same size.

    • @ericpigg2689
      @ericpigg2689 Před 4 měsíci

      @@KevinKalden I do have a Horse 1. 1977 model. Both pulleys are the same size. At the time I made this comment, I did not know where the break was for the two pulley setup vs. the 1 pulley. Thank you for the information!

    Thank you, good and educational before I get my 1st one like this. Did you see all the dirt coming off the engine when started. I would use compressed air and a blow gun to clean out, and every other nook and cranny that would collect dirt. A great $10 investment.

    • @KevinKalden
      @KevinKalden  Před rokem

      I did use compressed air to blow it out after the video. Unfortunately a few months later I got stupid and used an impact to turn it over and broke the stud on the crank. Damn thing is I knew better and was just not thinking. oh well now I can do a video on drilling a hole in the crankshaft. I hope you join my channel. Then again maybe you shouldn't. lol

    I have a horse almost like this one. But with metal fuel tank and no bumper guard. Can you please tell me the name of the 2 rods that allow the motor to move up and down to engage the belt from the motor to the pulley on the transmission.

  • @aux1z11
    @aux1z11 Před rokem

    I have one it had a 7hp Kohler on it and got a new motor last week and took the old one off then noticed the front trans shaft had some play in it so I removed the pully and the seal cover and pulled the shaft out and the rear bearing fell apart then checked the rest of it and the tine shaft had some play in it also so I ordered all new bearings and seals and going for the tines next, there seems to be different horses out there, mine has the long shaft with the welded worm gears at both ends and it has 2 belts and the tine shaft was not to fun getting off as mine is the kind with the bolt in the middle with a key and had to modify a puller to get them off now I hope these Allen bolts don't give me any problems as that's where I stopped at today and going to dump some diesel in it to clean it out so I can hunt down those 14 roller bearings that went everywhere when I pulled that shaft out. But other than that it's in good condition and built like a mini tractor

    • @KevinKalden
      @KevinKalden  Před 2 lety +1

      If it’s like mine reverse is when the upper pulley rides on the lower pulley. Check to make sure they are contacting each other. I have a video on the subject.

    By the way...new tines are coming today, I think. That should be interesting to change. Old ones are worn to pointed metal. No square end left, leaves a BIG gap under transmission because tines are so wide apart from wear.
    I Really would like to know how many hours of work my unit has on it to be this wore.

    • @stargazer57813
      @stargazer57813 Před rokem

      Replacing the tines is normal for this machine. It is a great machine that is a real work horse and the tines wear out after a few years of continuous use.

    THANK YOU FOR THE VID.!
    I HAVE FOUND THAT THE OIL LEVEL ON FLAT GROUND IS NOT SUFFICIENT FOR THE ANGLE THAT THESE TILLER ENGINES OPPERATE AT. THIS SAID...LOOK AT THE ANGLE THAT IT'S RUNNING AT....TIP IT IN THE OTHER WAY/FORWARD AND FILL IT TO (FULL)....I KNOW ....
    WE HAVE BEEN TOLD (DONT OVER FILL YOUR CAR WITH TOO MUCH OIL!!)...
    WEEEEEEELL.....
    CARS AND ANY PRESSURE LUBED SYSTEM, THIS IS TRUE!
    BUT SPLASH LUBE IS DIFFERENT!
    AGAIN (!) THESE ARE SPLASH
    LUBE! IF YOU LOOK YOU WILL FIND THAT AT 20 + ANGLE THE ENGINE IS DRY SUMP! BEEN DOING OVER FILL FOR 27 YEARS AND AND MY ENGINE FINALLY CRASHED....CYLINDER WORN OUT.....CRANK IS EXELLENT.
    ROD IS EXELLENT. WONDER IF I CAN SLEEVE IT?
