    Great video. I replaced the worm gear and shaft in my dads horse when I was in high school. I did it as a project in my FFA agriculture mechanics class. I got a A and he got a working tiller! That was in 1995 it was a 1986 model he purchased new. I still use the tiller now to plant and maintain my garden. He passed away 17 years ago. New subscriber! Your shop looks clean and I can tell you are very detail oriented!

      Thanks Ted. Glad to hear you were able to get work on your machine and get a grade on it too. I teach a class of 20 something year olds and most have no knowledge of mechanical repair. Definitely have to keep an eye on the seals on that machine. I’m sure your Dad was very proud of you.

    WOW! Cool THANKS. I sold my baby to some Mexican friends and they pretty much destroyed it and called me back to fix it. Got her runn'n good and put new tines on her but had to get an after market ignition switch wich plugs same way but doesn't work same. Anyway when I whent to take it for a test spin with tines engaged all the wires smoked to the limit switches. Need a diagram to save alot of trouble. In other words HELP!

    You're the only one I've ever heard talk about the tiller bucking in hard ground. What is going on and how can I fix it?

    • @cladkeeper8376
      @cladkeeper8376  Před 25 dny

      The tiller will lurch forward or bounce around if you hit large rocks, roots or just hard clay.
      If the soil is clean, organic and deep it tills nice and smooth.

    About how much do you think a total rebuild on one of these would cost to put in all new bearings, seals, gears, shaft, new air cleaner assembly for the Kohler magnum, complete card for a tiller like this. I have one like this I am considering rebuilding that was badly neglected. It ran but the car and air cleaner wouldn't let it stay running. I have oil leaks all over the back end. I am trying to determine if I should rebuild or buy another well carred for unit.

    • @cladkeeper8376
      @cladkeeper8376  Před 2 lety

      I would not consider rebuilding if you need all those parts. Seals and bearings are reasonable , cost wise. I don’t know the price off the top of my head but the gears and shafts will make it cost prohibitive for me.
      I was buying seals for around 3 bucks each. A carburetor will be a Chinese knockoff for around 15-20 bucks and I would look for a kohler housing used.
      Do you know the shafts and gears are gone ? If you have oil leaks it may only need seals and gaskets

      The last one I did was 400 parts and plus labor
      Every thing was checked and reworked but tires and he had them replace before I got it

      @cladkeeper8376  Před 4 měsíci

      Give me a couple days. I have to get out to my shed and snap a pic of tag. You will be able to look up from there. I take it your tag , white sticker on top gearbox, is missing.

      You may have to adjust the 2 rollers at the end of your reverse/ forward lever.
