The Queen’s visit to Ulster last week was, by most measures , a success.
A massive security operation kept violence to a “Tolerable” level.
‘This week’ correspondent Peter Taylor followed events last week in Ulster. He visited Loyalist celebrations and Republican protests.

As an Irish man who grew up in the North during the height of the troubles to that soldiers family they buried at the end i send by deepest sympathies, he along with so many others Catholics, Protestants and security forces were victims of a problem born long before their own births. RIP to all who lost lives to a problem they hadn't caused.

Hi , mate , I was born 23rd May 1968, in a village called bushmills, I grew up as a protestant, but my family are from both sides! Yes , your comment says it all , we as a people should just stop fighting & just get on no matter who you are or what side your from , ! I have sayed many a time from years ago, we all bleed the same, & we are all brothers & sisters ,! As my family are from both sides, we just want to stay in peace & stay in the UK,

As a tax paying person on the UK mainland. I am inclined to believe that the effort and expense to keep Northern Ireland as a part of the United Kingdom. Is a pointless and expensive political exercise. I will say only this. That whilst we watched our troops being verbally abused. And physically injured and in some cases, killed. We would have been better supporting Rhodesia. And offering military and political support to our kith and kin in Southern Africa. Rather than stopping irate Irish men killing each other...

@georgeaye7535 Indeed... but I have to ask... if the only motivation for being a good person is avoiding punishment or wanting a reward (heaven or hell) is that person REALLY a good person...? 🤔 I can think of plenty of reasons to be a good person seperate from any belief in God or religion, reasons that can be proven and that are objective.... not faith-based. Maybe we should focus on explaining those reasons instead of making up other motivations that are also used by powerful HUMANS to scare people into submission to authority.
