    Just watched this movie again & this time I'm fairly convinced that Fulci or one of the other writers saw the shining the year before & wanted to do their take on it...that is until the zombie in the end.
    Hear me out: both movies are about a 3 person family moving to a new, colder, town because the job the man got there was formerly employed by someone that killed themselves in their place of work. In both movies the sweater wearing son has weird unexplained supernatural abilities that include being able to communicate over long distances with someone trying to save them from the evils of the house, and seeing ominous things. Both movies also have a weird "but you've been here before" twist somewhere in there about the dad that isn't super set up & has inspired fans to speculate on the meaning. Both movies have a climax with the dad chopping down the door with an axe. Both movies have the mom in similar hysterics at one point or another, and the dad displaying weird aggression to her about her hysterics. Both dads give up their original research and the reason they came instead focusing on the sordid history of the building (albeit more in the book version of the shining than the movie). And if the House by the Cemetary creators did read the shining book, there's also the wasp attack vs bat attack thing.

    • @edgein7892
      @edgein7892 Před měsícem

      Some very interesting points indeed, never thought about that.
      But even in the end there would be a small similarity, although the parents are killed Bob will still remain a part of the house just like Jack in The Shining.
      Maybe the writers had a different idea but when Fulci is involved everybody dies.
      Not to mention the rivers of blood that apparently only one person sees.
      Or it would be too early and the mother needed coffee first.
