Brad was right about overkill. Christopher Plummer's plan is ridiculously elaborate and overcomplicated. Why not just show up at Don Rosso's home and force him to hand over the diamonds? It's not as if he'd have any trouble getting in, since the Don's assistant, Mario, is working for Plummer. Of course, I'm also not seeing how Mario benefits from any of this. How is helping Plummer steal the Don's diamonds going to get him in good with the Mafia? One would think the opposite would happen. And the whole rationale for blowing the glacier and destroying the resort is to cover their tracks so the Mafia won't come after them, which wouldn't be a problem if Plummer had done what I suggested, killed the Don and Mario, and left. But, of course, then we'd have no movie.
