    • @Morbos1000

Death Metal was in its infancy when this movie came out and very few people would have heard of the term then.

Really thrash metal would have worked better as Sodom, Sepultura, Kreator, Dark Angel among others had more Bestial proto black and death metal albums at the time with themes satanism, horror and war. Death metal was still on fan circulated demo tapes, with Death's Scream Bloody Gore being one year away from when this was made. But hey they never got punk right in the movies either.

7:24 - This movie has one of the most satisfying revenges on a school bully ever. Skippy pisses off the bully and lures him and his buddies into pissing off the teachers and getting them in trouble.

My friends and I saw this in the theater back when it was out. It's one of those movies that's a lot of fun. I definitely recommend this one. It's not boring. There's the perfect amount of cheese. There's recognizable WTF guest appearances. The goofy plot chugs along and never hangs. The effects are decent. It's a really good and entertaining little forgotten gem of a film for a fun movie night with the friends.

Fastway are ok (first albums great), obviously Fast Eddie Clarke is a classic guitarist, but they shouldve gotten a band more sinister...maybe not Slayer or anything, but at least something on the level of W.A.S.P or Lizzy Borden to do the music..most of the actual threatening music are the posters on the kids walls..Tony Fields does a great job though

I personally just prefer that tone of review from Brad. Heaven's Gate, Moment By Moment, Caligula, the Italian horror movies, Beyond The Valley of the Dolls, and the Pierre Kirby episodes are my favorites of his. When I think of the Snob, I think of Windy City before the other two. They make me think of Spoony... back when he still made movie reviews. :(
Snob, Nostalgia Critic, Spoony, ect. all had a particular tone and feel to them that seem to be melding together more with time. It's alright I guess... Since Snob still does those kinds of movies.for fans like me. Death Wish 2 being a recent one.
But when Independence Day won, many fans expressed a similar reasoning for their choice. Based on the surprise he had for the outcome, I can only wonder if Brad realizes the tone set by many of his past reviews, and how enjoyed it is by many fans. And I hope his show doesn't end up becoming all over the bloody place in the future. Some of Linkara's Patreon Sponsered reviews can show the negatives of an unfocused presentation...
...aside from that lamp review. Have you seen that fucking lamp?

How appropriate to showcase this movie in October. I think I've heard of this one from either an E!, Bravo, or VH1 special, I don't remember the special, but that's where I've heard of this movie. I have to say this movie looks pretty interesting. The idea of mysterious messages on an album when played backwards and obeying them is an interesting concept for a horror movie. Add in the whole "Devil Worship" aspect and the hero's idol being a demon and this turned into one hell (no pun intended) of a cheesy fun horror film with some pretty cool special effects. Great episode Brad.

This movie was first released on VHS in 1987 by Lorimar Home Video. Yep! Lorimar was a home video distributor outside of its TV production company under Lorimar/Telepictures, and the same company they did "Dallas", "The Waltons", "Eight Is Enough", "Valerie" (aka "The Hogan Family"), "Perfect Strangers", "Family Matters" and "Full House". But sadly, Lorimar Home Video ended around 1988 or 1989 when it was absorbed into WB TV Distribution and WB TV after Lorimar folded. Lorimar Home Video has a brief run during that time when it was Karl-Lorimar, and then they released a string of home video releases like "Max Headroom", a direct-to-video film, along with "The Boy Who Could Fly", "Action Jackson", and others when it was Lorimar Motion Pictures, and a string of films made by DEG such as this one, and a series of cartoons and exercise videos. I also remember this logo as you can see at the very beginning of "Trick Or Treat". It goes like this.

Finally! I've wanted you to do this movie for so long! I remember being thirteen and hearing there was a horror movie staring Gene Simmons and Ozzy Osbourne, looking for a dvd of it for fucking ever, and being so disappointed when I actually saw it.
    Thanks, Brad.

Have to agree with the previous comment - What the heck is False Metal??? You are old enough to know that Metal is an offshoot or evolution of the music from the likes of Elvis Presley and The Beetles among others?
So - Rock and Roll is the ORIGINAL METAL... Then you have the Punk Era as well, Still Metal... New Wave of British Metal - Circa 1980... Oh and then there is Progressive Rock which predates both Punk and New Wave...
Speed Metal - Made famous by Megadeth... Death Metal... Nu-Metal... Glam Rock, Hair Rock, Christian Rock (Not a big fan of that but there are some great tracks out there!)...
Oh and lets not forget Fusion - Red Hot Chilli Peppers and the like...
With so many off shoot genres since its birth - WHAT IS FALSE METAL???

I realized that the main character from Hack O Lantern was played by the same actor who played Mac's dad in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia in his first role. Snob is a fan of the show but didn't notice at the time (I think) and no one in the comments had pointed it out. I just wanted to broadcast this tid-bit despite it being unrelated to the current video.
It's another Halloween Snob episode at least... But the unnoticed Sunny connection was too great.

  • @nastymetalproductions2195

this movie holds nostalgic memories for me.. mostly for introducing me to other metal bands in this movie.
some of the bands in this movie are now looked as cult bands, like Lizzy Borden, Raven, Impaler, Exciter, Possessed (being looked as one of the first Death Metal bands) and so on.
but one thing kinda bugs me is the Raven poster in this movie, while this movie did introduce me to the band but since now being a fan of 'em i kinda think the album that was chose to represent the band was a misstep, The Pack is Back is looked down apon as the band's WORST albums, it was a departure from their first three or four albums (Stay Hard was atleast a Metal album), it was more Pop Rock than Metal, so in conclusion, the poster that should have been chosen should have been something from their early period like All for One or Wiped Out or Rock Until You Drop or hell even Stay Hard would have been better choices than The Pack is Back. just a minor issue i have with choices for posters.
other than that, nice review, made me laugh. take care.
