@@russellward4624 Yes, that happened. It also happened once that my father was coming out from the kitchen burping. Or that my sister wanted to use the phone for calling HER boyfriend, so she yelled into the phone that if I didn't go immediately someone would die and it would be my fault.
OTOH now if i don't answer a message immediately they call the police...
This was so awkward and so common for me growing up because I was a boy but all my friends were girls (spoiler alert: Turns out I'm gay) so I had a lot of dads who didn't like me when I was a kid.
As a recovering shy guy, I understand his difficulty. He was probably really nervous. Your frustration is also understandable. Maybe it just happened at the wrong time for both of you.
Mistakes are part of the process, right?

I can relate to this. When guys are too young, they are too insecure and lack confidence to show their partner to others or even initiate physical touch. I know girls find it too annoying, but it takes time for us to improve.

my first girlfriend always was at the arcade, stole my hat and teased me. I didn't mind, she was cute. we were young and didn't admit our feelings to each other for a couple months. i ended up kissing her cuz i felt confident enough that she liked me too. it's crazy how hard it is to tell when you're young!

Experience has to start somewhere. First relationships should have sweet and cute stories like this. You probably don't realize how precious a memory it might be for such a shy boy to even have such a cute girl confess her feelings. In those first "innocent" relationships, sometimes that is enough.

You were indeed horrible to him... But you were still a kid with a lot to learn, and it's good that you can see what you did wrong in hindsight.
There definitely were mistakes on both ends, but at least the relatioship experience helped you grow a bit.
Thank you for sharing such a personal part of your life. I don't think you were intentionally cruel, just both of you were inexperienced , although parents and schools might teach what young adults need to stay safe physically ,they neglect teaching the emotional components important to relationships . This leaves us unsure how to deal with those awkward times . I myself was very shy of all people ,but I would not have hidden leaving you suddenly , I might not have been very chatty in those circumstances ,just said hi to your friends , but the need to be polite to you and your friends would over ride the flight response . I got a bit worried for your safety when I realised there was an earth quake ,hope you are ok.

Miss Asagi, it is often true that as time flows past us that memories will fade and become less painful. However, the our first attempts at love (not love for family) are painful for all of our lives. Please consider that as you yourself have said, you were only 15 years old. So, my advice to you is try to remember that what you experienced is a normal part of learning to love. This is why love is so profoundly and deeply felt. Love magnifies all other feelings and makes the simple everyday occurrences into wonderful miracles and idyllic perfection. Please do not be too harsh to yourself. I was an awkward boy myself, I have experienced the other side of your story. It was a good first attempt at love. Remember the other feelings you were experiencing at this time too. We human beings remember the terrible parts of the past too well.

Asagi I don't think you were a horrible person. I think things could have been done better on both sides. When you guys saw your friend and he vanished, I would have been having a straight up talk to him about that. I would have told him if that kind of behavior continues we wouldn't be boyfriend and girlfriend. If he was not affectionate enough with me I would talk to him about that and see if he would change his behavior. You telling him you could get a better boyfriend in High School, that was a little cruel. But we grow and learn from our mistakes. I can tell just how it bothers you now that you are a kind person and you regret it. We all have regrets in life. You really seem like a great person thanks for sharing.

Sounds like he was too shy to even get to first base and you guys were on different levels and that's okay that you recognized that and knew what you had to do based on that. Not everybody goes at the same speed. As long as whatever happens is done so with mutual consent between similarly aged individuals it ain't that big of a deal but not everybody is built like that, especially that young. I would not call that selfish at all.

Cute story. Neither one of you were horrible or bad ppl. Just young and inexperienced. Maybe you expected a certain courtship from him because you thought that’s how it was supposed to be, and maybe he was just shy and inexperienced so he didn’t know what to do or he just couldn’t work up the courage to kiss u, hold hands, hug u, etc. The disappearance act was weird, but then again maybe it was due to his shyness and lack of experience. I don’t think it was anything to blame either one of yourselves about.

I think my experience with a Japanese girl in my teenage relationship was like we were somehow tryng to avoid people when going home from school so that no one knows we were in a relatioship. I still remember people around me did not really want to reveal their relationship status or partner to others in Japan. Public attention is somehow too much over there.

Then Brad says, Hello, what are you two up to this evening?"

It's very very interesting to me because I really have never dated a white girl. Only Japanese. I went to boys school from 14-16 in the UK and then a mixed college from 16-18 but there were no girls in our group. Then I worked in a PC repair shop in 1999 where I could use the lousy 1999 internet. At that time I met my wife and I had no idea she was Japanese. Her English vocab and pronunciation was more than perfect. She came to the UK and stayed for 6 months (visa limit) and then let's go to Japan. That was when I knew she was Japanese. All the time I thought she was American because of the spoken language.

If im studying japan when i was in highschool or college i think its hard for me to focus on study. Japanese weakness is my strongest points. I love japan but maybe i should visit just for 1week. Really japanese people are very kind and beautiful, its hard for me to havr a japanese girlfriend and left her bcoz im going back here in Philippines. I was never shy when i was young and it was ever easy for me to get girls. Than i ve got sick with burn out and depression and fears and Panik attacks . after that I was also shy ....and so i find out to be shy means someone is afraid . Afraid that no one like him or to be alone or that other people hate him . No one could help me in this time so I learned everything by my selfe about psychology. Now I can understand also shy people . The most important thing is to face your fears.... Also when it is hard.bit step by step... It will need time but you will win when you dont give up . Also ask your selfe why are you shy . What kind of feeling is it when you are togather with her and feel shy .is it fears? When you had this fears in the past also ??? When was it the first time ? It can be better to do it with help from a psychologist ?? Never give your live up... I was so sick I could do nothing anymore but I never gave up. Of course I gave up for a day or two but than I said I try it again. I said to my selfe ... it would be sad to waste a lifetime . I can do something good with that time . Also when I can't help my selfe anymore than I can use my life time to help other people . I did it and I felt more and more better .

Interesting story. I guess dating varies between cultures, and sometimes generations. Videos sometimes confuse me as to whether it is the Japanese man or the Japanese woman that is more reserved. At least you had a common culture. No matter how many videos I have watched, being a white American, my first date with a Japanese woman would likely be very stressful. If she speaks English well, things would go more easily. At the age of 70, it would be difficult for me to learn Japanese. Also if she had been raised in a more conservative environment, actions/reactions might be different than what is common with more modern upbringing. Of course when you're young, group dating would help break the ice, and after the two of you are comfortable enough, you could separate from the group to get to know each other better. Thanks for sharing.

You weren't selfish or mean. Even as a 15 year old you're still entitled to get what you want out of your relationships. You may not have handled the break up in the most gentle way. But you were a child, you were still learning abut the world, about relationships and how to handle certain situations and conversations. Be kind to yourself.

Regardless of how a person reacts, they're still entitled get what they want out of a relationship. That goes for every single person. Your view is very shallow. Just because you judge their behaviour as "mean", does not suddenly create a scenario where they are not aloowed the relationship they want. It was mean to leave her all alone when they saw friends. So by your logic, he can not complain because he' not entitled to a "god damn thing"
