Good job. There is a service bulletin on this issue also. Take a flashlite and place it under the tray/ice maker compartment against the wall but pointed up so it shines towards the bottom of the compartment. Look for the lite inside the cavity. If you see the lite inside the cavity buy some rtv silicone and fill the gaps. It seems air gets into the cavity causing moisture and frost will accumulate.

@@JustaDude123 Just FYI Samsung strongly advises against using a hair dryer, they want you to use a steamer to melt the ice. Reason being that the high heat from a dryer/heat gun will actually warp some of the plastics within that ice maker housing. Additionally the coolant tube running through the ice tray itself can easily become damaged by the excessive heat from a hair dryer.
Still a valid option, but keep that bad boy on low heat :)

    • @JustaDude123
      @JustaDude123  Před měsícem

Im sorry to hear that. Sometimes you have to use the FD mode a couple times to get it to work. Also, when using the hairdryer make sure THERES IS NOT HEAT. You just have to run room temperature air over it. Its ice. It will melt with room temperature air. Remember the inside of the fridge is plastic and hot air will damage the fridge. You can also just leave the door open. If you have another fridge or and ice chest you can put the contents of the fridge in to keep them from spoiling it could be plan C. Hope this helps. Please let me know what works for you. Thank you for watching!

Good video man. I have this exact same fridge as the one in your video. I have less salad dressing/Ranch in mine though :) Only issue is- this clears the result of the problem, but not the cause- so the problem occurs again & again & again.
I did this exact technique almost 2 years ago- it works for 3-6 weeks each time & then the root issue causes the same problem again.

There is a know problem with these makes (ice maker in the refrig section) and another brand Samsung makes. There finally is a kit (2021) that will fix it for good. It cost just under $200. The kit has, new ice maker, new fill tube, complete computer assembly behind the refrig.
The problem is: Samsung knew for 5 or more years that the ice makers would freeze up. News report of them freezing from many TV stations, still they were sold to unsuspecting customers. There is suppose to be a free repair if you call Samsung. Possible a class action lawsuit was caused that will get you a free fix, even on several year old Samsung
This ice make fix does not cure the water under the bottom door or the foor or regfig that does not cool below 45 degrees (frozen back coils, frozen in-place fan). That is yet another problem with ice forming on the cooling coils and the drain for the defrost that freezes up dripping the defrosted water under the bottom tray/floor. So the $2,300 I spent on my refrig was not worth it. I bought a 5 year warranty that picked up the ice maker problem. Not the coil freezing problem. With the virus, we did not want anyone in the house in 2020. The freezing back panel is repairable for under $100, just a problem that should not happen. It seems the coil freezing is a problem with many refrigs. Federal energy conservation is the problem, they want the refrigs to use as little energy as possible and not totally defrost all the built up ice.

After years of trying every tip on You Tub to fix the ice buildup of the icemaker on my Samsung refrigerator, I called Samsung today 5/4/21, (1-800-Samsung) and received a full replacement of my “out of warranty” refrigerator’s icemaker and related components, purchased in 2018, at no cost to me. The only information Samsung needed was the model number and serial number of my refrigerator. They were not concerned when I purchased it only where which was at Lowes. Fifteen minutes after the conclusion of that call I was contacted by Samsung’s service vendor to schedule a time for the replacement which will be this coming Monday 5/10/21. Apparently, Samsung has finally realized the problem with this refrigerators ice maker and now honoring replacement, regardless of the products age, at no charge to the customer.

Did you press the blue reset button on the top part of ice maker unit (3 to 4 seconds) until you hear a chime tone?

So, did this. Several times. Clean and dry as the Sahara in there now. Problem is: the ice maker won't make ice. Just sits there. Whenever I defrosted it in the past it would eventually start dropping ice again. it's been three days and still no ice. I suspect the tray is wedged and the entire ice-maker unit may have to be replaced. Water pressure is ample (fills an entire liter in about 12 seconds). Water in the door is fine (obviously). Just.. no ice being made.

Thats not good. Have you tried unplugging it for about 10 minutes so it can reset itself? Of that doesn’t work, try this:

@@JustaDude123 Yup. I've tried power-disconnect reset; no joy. I've also run it through it's self-test cycle a few times. When I press and hold button-blue it chimes "down" (hard to describe in text, but you know the sound; it's the same as turning the ice maker off). There is no test-finishing sound, and 36 hours later, still no ice. Looks like I'll have to call Samsung. Thanks.

Inside the ice maker on mine on the right side of the ice maker is a blue button you pushin and hold till you hear a beep. Then this should start your ice maker. Good luck

@@johnfindlay5743 Went through all of that and then some. Finally called out Samsung. Turns out it was a defective maker entirely, and a blown chip on the mainboard. Samsung came out and replaced it entirely with updated hardware and mainboard, and ice box, and sealed every seam. They also addressed a problem not a lot of people here mention:
The water pressure line that feeds fridge also feeds the ice maker (obviously) and does so by feeding into a 'funnel' that then loads into the tray. if you have high water pressure (I absolutely did) it will literally splash all over the place inside the box, causing a ton of build up everywhere. The tech that replaced everything reduced the water feed line pressure to the fridge at the valve to about 1-1/2 to 2 cups / 10sec. Since that service call 4 months ago my icemaker not only works, but has had zero frost build up, and zero accumulation of unwanted ice. It takes half-again longer to fill a glass of filtered water, but I don't much care. The icemaker works, doesn't build up frost, and is no longer a problem, and for that I'm happy.

That’s awesome! You are not the only one who said they adjusted the water line. Thanks for the info!

That’s great the ice tray came out easily. Theres two other videos I made which would probably fix your ice maker. The first is how to troubleshoot the ice maker and the other is about calling Samsung.

As someone else has already mentioned, call Samsung!!! Stop with all the hacks. We’ve all tried them and they don’t last. The problem comes back. I just did the online chat with Samsung and they contacted a service provider in my area to fix the problem for FREE! My fridge is three years old and I do not have the extended service plan either. Give it a shot!

You didn't fix anything you just defrosted it, the ice builds up in less than a weeks time. There are lawsuits against Samsung that were won in Florida over this yet Samsung still refuses to recall and give a permanent fix to the owners of these.

Awesome comment! It took three months for my Samsung to do it again and it was because the temperature was set too high in the freezer. You are correct, there are lawsuits. Ive even seen information about Samsung offering refunds or partial refunds for this issue. Hope this helps. Thank you!
