They didn't install the water line but the ice maker was still on and I thought it might cause damage to fridge or the ice maker itself, and couldn't figure out how to turn it off. There's a latch under the ice maker door for this model, you'll need to unlatch on the bottom to remove. If it's stuck, you'll need to unplug fridge to defrost before it.

This was helpful. When I tried to turn off the ice maker by holding down the button, it does not cycle to turn off. Seems like I can make selections on the water/ice cycle but I can't turn off the ice maker. I think it's frozen because no ice is dispensing and I can't remove the cover to the ice maker. Thank you! Is there a way to control the amount of ice in the ice cube storage container? It produces way more ice than I can use and the bottom half that I never use freezes up into a solid mass.
Your are Welcome. Nope to control the amount of ice. It will keep producing ice until it fills up the container. Maybe give it a try to adjust the temperature on the freezer side to see if that helps.

My settings panel is not as sophisticated as rhat shown on the video! It just has an “O” with< and >. When I turn the ice off, as instructed, it reverts to on!
It takes time at least 8 hours as I'm told. Always, make sure the water line is connected tight to the back of fridge and the spigot is turned ON. Check if the ice maker function is ON, let it run over night.

I don't have a Kenmore but I googled the answer. 0 = off and 1=numbers (temperature) dial indicate refrigerant power. The higher the number goes the colder the fridge will maintain. Setting it to 5 will make your fridge the coldest.
What is the symbol next to 0 degrees on the Freezer. Mine has the same symbol on. I am worried I may have to reset something. Also, can you please do a video on Force Defrost. After 3 years my icemaker is jamming up with ice. I read online to do Force Defrost. Thank you. Your videos are very helpful.
You mean the symbol with the lightening bolt with a null on it? That's the peak demand off, leave it lit on so it won't turn off to save freezer energy but spoil the food. I'll research the force defrost. I never had to defrost. Thanks.
@@netman88 Thank you. My fridge is exactly 3 years old. Ice tray is jammed. I talked to Samsung. Out of warranty. They advised to unplug for 24 hours. And, they recommend it unplugged for 24 hours once a year to let the appliance “breathe”. I have never had this issues of owning different refrigerators over 50 years. There is a class action lawsuit for the ice maker issue. Apparently, most common issue.
I have had a samsung fridge for the past 25 years. You are right, i. Older models that is how to turn it off. I have a new one, I do what you just showed and it shows ICE MAKER OFF but a few minutes later it goes back to on again. So now it wont work
My refrigerator looks virtually the same as the one in the video. The only difference, I did not get the ice and water dispenser on the left door. I pushed and held the lock button down, and accessed the ice maker. 3 different settings come on, however, none of them say "ice maker off". My refrigerator is making a groaning noise. I remove the plastic water container in the left side of the refrigerator door, the groaning noise stops. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I did not hook up the water to the back of the refrigerator.
@@netman88 I never hooked up a water supply to the back of the refrigerator. There has never been any ice in the ice tray, or water in the indoor refrigerator container.
What about the settings on interior panel water/ice…i see your icon furthest left is illuminated. What are the other three for (cup with 2 cubes, cup with 3 cubes, and then the lock icon?
Does this apply to a refrigerator with this on the front of door above the dispenser? I've tried holding it for three seconds (ice off) and it won't go back on.
How do I turn off the Rapid Ice Maker. I don't want to turn off my ice, just stop making it so quickly. It gets too full then I can't get any ice out of it unless I empty the tray to half.
Sorry, I am not familiar with that model and couldn’t find the manual online. If similar control panel setup: Try to search for the owner’s manual. If there’s an unlocked panel button, try that first. Then, probably hold the ice button for the button for 3 seconds.

Yes, ice maker turns on when ice maker is pressed again. It's designed that way.

Yes. This should turn off the ice maker.
I have the same fridge like yours but I don’t why my ice maker come out crushed iced now even on the cubed ice mold.
Probably the temperature setup is too low. This may cause this.

How do I set the freezer temp to zero below, or what is the suggested temp for the freezer.
Unlock panel, change the freezer temp.
Kenmore fridge has a choice of O or - symbols on icemaker, which is off and on? No wire arm involved.

If someone touches the ICE MAKER it will come back ON. Just turn OFF and ON if you want it to work. Or it could be buggy now.

From left to right is water, cubed ice, crushed ice and lock.
Turning on the water auto fill dispenser container is a little finicky
If the icemaker is off,will it stop producing ice also, climate is cold now so we dont use any ice,and I am afraid it will overflow the container
It shouldn’t over the container, it should trigger a stop if full

Si parpadea a 35 F, simplemente desbloquee el panel de control y cambie las temperaturas de nuevo a 35 F. Supongo que es la parte del refrigerador.
