⁉🙋🏼♀ HAVE YOU EVER BEEN TO US? What is your most favourite thing about California? 😉
Thank you!
Stay safe 🤗 Be Happy ❤
A relative of mine just moved from LA to Utah, and his opinion of the place is depressing.
Never Returning been clean of Cali 10 years! 😅
I have lived in LA and in San Francisco. So I will tell you first of all, Los Angeles is a transient culture. People tend to move on after awhile. That means the people you think are your "friends" may not be there after a short time. People seem friendly but they may not be real relationships. Just be aware, they may be interested in you partly because you are very pretty, very confident and seem exotic because of your accent. Most people in LA are in "show business" in some way and it is to their advantage to know as many people as possible for job connections. Some people, especially in Beverly Hills, have a lot of money so they can wear designer clothes. There is a big homeless problem in LA and San Francisco. No, it is not safe. As to coffee, people in America like caffeinated cold beverages. They love "energy drinks" like Red Bull. Many people don't know much about espresso or other real coffee drinks other than latte which they drink any time of the day. Re: housing, a lot of people in LA have roommates because they can't afford to live alone. Also, many people lease their automobiles so it will look like they have a nicer car than they could afford.
Totally correct. Everything there is fake. ThereMs a lot of money in LA and they are very into their looks-the clothes, cosmetic surgeries. There is a homeless problem up and down the west coast and getting worse by the month. There is plenty of info about it if you know where to look. Don’t be deceived by the all that you see. LA is the capital of fake. Don’t waste your time there.
In the northeast we are mostly hot coffee drinkers.
👍✌❤stay safe, get out while the gettin is good
Thank you very much indeed ☺️ and thank you so much for watching 🤗
Good to hear something positive about the US , I hope it continues for you.
Honestly, I really really like the country 🙂 so far I didn’t really have any bad experience 🙂
I'd love to watch your comparison of the American and Norwegian cultures.
I've lived in LA my whole life, almost 50 years. You nailed it!
O God I'm sorry for you 😮
I am a Norwegian by heritage, but born and raised in Minnesota. Skol!
Skål, sir. Edit: or madam.
I love your accent. Welcome to California.
Wow. California? Why girl what are you doing there. Get out while you still can.
Well.. I kinda like California ☺️ what is your favourite place in the world? 😉 whet shall I go next? 😃
@AnnaGoldmanTravel California is only good for vacation, you'll figure it out when you run out of money. And stay away from Sanfransisco unless you want to step in human 💩 poo
California isn’t a great representation of all of the US. The homeless situation is due to a combination of socioeconomic factors. The cost of living is very expensive for larger cities in the US in comparison to other cities but there is also an inversion of pay. The US also doesn’t have a great social safety net like in Europe. The simple explanation for the lack of services is due to our government spending way more than it takes in from taxes. This causes massive inflation and raises the costs for everything. In turn making life very difficult for the unskilled, and for those with chronic health issues.
You should add the temperature. A significant part of the homeless became homeless in colder places and came to CA to more easily survive.
yeap thats how we roll.. , fast friends fast networking fast business, lots of relationships.. , 😊😊😎😎
Nice one 😁 life is really fast these days 😉
I loved the video, though I have so many thoughts that I'd like to share.
I do agree that most people in LA are out and about in the morning and we get home very early. I guess it depends on the person but most jobs begin at 8AM and the commute can be long due to heavy traffic. This is why we try to get home early as well, to avoid spending hours on traffic. I work in West Hollywood and on a good day it takes me 30 min to drive to work. During traffic, that turns into an hour and 15 minutes. That said, in my experience, people in Los Angeles and California are laid back and very chill. I do love going to a local Starbucks in the morning before going in to work and it's relaxing for me.
Homelessness is definitely an issue in big cities though it's more known of in California. It's been explained well in the comments but I do feel that the pandemic has made the issue worse. Local governments try to tackle the issue but tend to fail for multiple reasons that I will not go over because is a polarizing issue sadly. It's very sad to see. In downtown Los Angeles, there is an area called Skid Row...it has a high concentration of homeless people. Definitely not somewhere I recommend going for a walk but a quick drive through with company should give you a glimpse. It's on the way to Little Tokyo which I do recommend. I totally understand not feeling safe but I think if you have company with you and hang out in very populated areas, you should be ok.
I don't think everyone in LA is fit, but from what I can tell on your videos, you've only seen what we call the west side of Los Angeles which is a much nicer area. Though I think in general, people do look in shape. I think one thing that helps is that the weather makes it nice to go out for walks, hikes all year. Probably a bit less so this year since we've had rains.
To wrap up this long post (comment), I do love Los Angeles and California. That said, this is only a small glimpse of what the US is about. Even what we call NoCal (northern California) is very different than SoCal (southern California). Other states like Washington, Arizona, Kansas, Florida, Texas, New York are vastly different than what you see in California alone. I do hope you are able to visit other states. It will give you a better impression of how awesome this country is, despite the negatives that we currently face. So many cultures, people from different backgrounds calling this country home.
Homelessness: in the early 80’s the US closed over 500,000 mental health beds across the country and that has contributed greatly to homelessness. Lots of other contributing factors as well but it is everywhere in the US. The divide between the haves and have nots is growing and contributing to homeless numbers.
Thank you very much for your detailed explanation.. this is very sad indeed..
is the any chance the government can fix it?
@@AnnaGoldmanTravel Government created the problem.
We've seen quite a bit of progress in Denver recently but it takes time and resources. I'm not sure about other locations across the US. @@AnnaGoldmanTravel
Try New York City and compare the two.
LA My Favorite place 😍😍
Lived in California, growing up in Torrance and Long Beach, now living in North San Diego coastal. I've seen LA in a steady state of decline. My old neighborhoods are now run down and the once great schools are pretty bad. The decline has accelerated in the last ten years and we avoid the area like it's a plague. It's nice if you can live in a bubble like Beverly Hills, etc but not all can, obviously. This is what happens when our leaders fail us: too many illegals, unpunished crime, drug usage is tolerated, wasted taxes and corruption (LA city council for example). Maybe not politically correct but facts are facts and math is math.
California has 2 am liquor license. I;m from Chicago we have bars and clubs that stay open till 4 AM. New York is a 24 hour city.
8:35. Not everyone is “thin” in Los Angeles….
Well.. compare to the rest of the US I was really shocked in Los Angeles 🙂 pleasantly shocked to see how many people take care of their mental and physical health ☺️
@@AnnaGoldmanTravel 80% of the US population are "overweight".
I paid less taxes in Norway than I do in California.
In Los Angeles, it is illegal to sell alcohol after 2am. That's why everything closes. Different states have different laws. In Utah, only certain businesses can sell alcohol at all. In Las Vegas and New Orleans, you can buy alcohol almost 24 hours a day AND you can carry open alcoholic beverages in public. There are no federal (whole country) laws except that you have to be 21 to purchase or consume alcohol.
No. Absolutely no comparison between Norway and crazy LA! LA isn’t a representation of the US.
Norway is clean and safe, the people aren’t extroverts but are kind and warm when you need to interact.
I would move to Norway if my children and grandchildren didn’t live in the U.S.
I’m in northeastern U.S.
No doubt about Norway being clean and safe but they can afford it. Norway is in the top five highest oil production per capita in the world with the highest being monachy run governments. But Norway is a well run democracy. It's fairly easy to provide for your people when you have a small population and an oil funded sovereign fund of US$1.5T which produces ~US$20k each year for each resident (think free money to pay for services and the future). Here in the US our deficit per person is $5k each year. Quite a fiscal contrast.
I'd love to see a video comparing US and Norway but be aware that people in the US differ quite a bit depending on where you are. If you want a closer comparison go to Minnesota where the folks are more Nordic and not really like people in LA that much. The same could be said about people on the East coast and in the South! The US is very large, very diverse and very different depending on where you go. Enjoy!
For your information there are more Norwegians in Minnesota then there are in Norway 😉😅
6 million in Minnesota vs 5 million in Norway itself 😎
I’m in Norway in march . I’ll be happy to compare Norway with California 🙂 as this is the only state I’ve visited so far for more than a week 🙂
@@AnnaGoldmanTravel Yes! In Wisconsin as well. I myself am Norwegian in heritage, a fact my family has always been quite proud of!
THUMBS UP, Anna...for just being cute!
Aww ☺️ thank you so much indeed 🤗❤️
3:40 With all due respect, I'm italian and I don't think caffeinated water would appeal here, maybe only to very youngsters, but at that point you have all the energy drinks to compete with. I've seen caffeine gums in Germany, not in Italy, if we want caffeine we just drink a coffee, or coke, or other energy drink.
Absolutely not 😂😂 can you imagine to say in Italy instead of ‘prendiamo un cafe’ “let’s get some caffeine water 😉 I think I’ll be sent out of Italy the same moment 😂
Nooo!! Nothing can compare with a delicious cup of morning coffee 😌
@@AnnaGoldmanTravel Yep! They will confiscate the passport! XD Same as overcoocked pasta. You can say blasphemy against Jesus but don't touch our food! It's not the substance, it's the other ingredients and the ritual surrounding it that matter. You can have all the nutrients, minerals and vitamins by drinking a liquid meal like an astronaut, but that's not a proper lunch.
Stay safe, hope to meet you someday in Norway when i get there, and thanks for all the infos... 👍
I moved out of SF having lived there for over 10 years. So happy to be completely out of CA in general. Be safe…
California is expensive. Also major cities across the United States. Like New York City.
That’s sooo true! I still haven’t been to New York yet ☺️ but I’ll definitely make it this year to compare the prices and a lifestyle 🙂
Thank you so much for watching 🤗❤️
The US has a terrible homeless crisis because we have incredibly poor access to social services and higher education. Many of the things needed for even a decent quality of life are only accessible to the upper middle and upper classes. In California we have much better social services than most states but that means many people in trouble come here from other parts of the country. We have better access to services and better weather than probably 90% of the country. You are less likely to die of exposure here and might stand a fighting chance of survival compared to the mid west.
Not safe! The homelessness is out of control, esp in California. p.s. - your ideal weight ... I concur :)
So interesting, Anna, that you think that Beverly Hills, Venice, and West Hollywood are representative of California or the United States. While they are lovely parts of Los Angeles, clean, with thin, wealthy people, please consider visiting other parts of the City. We have (sorry - I live in the Hollywood Hills) homeless, hungry, drugged out, fat, rude people as well as wonderful people. I've followed your channel through your many living experiences, and seen the exciting places in Europe you have shared with us. I've traveled to Europe every year, experiencing different cities, towns, and villages .. some are beautiful, some are not. I urge you to experience more than the west side of Los Angeles. Get on the metro. Take it to downtown. Take it to the valley. Take it to USC ... I am a native Angeleno and love my hometown. But yes, taxes are high. Yes, health care is expensive; yes, owning a car is expensive, gasoline is higher here than in other cities in the US (but definitely cheaper than in Europe). See the good and that which needs improvement. And welcome to LA!
Go to sanfransisco 😂 youll change your mind
Angelina Jolie? 🤔
Girl get the Hell outta there! If Snoop Dogg hears you there 😱
😂😂😅 why Snoop Dogg ? 😃😄 that would be so cool though ☺️
@@AnnaGoldmanTravel just thought LA and gangsters lol Be safe though luv 🫶🏻
Yea... In the morning they hang out at coffee shops because they have no jobs. In the evening they stay home... no money... Get in because of crime.
oh non tu es mariée?? :/
All of the large cities in California were, overall, beautiful cities. You can still see that in some sections of every one of those cities, but we have terrifically horrible problems with illegal drugs and alcohol abuse, and all of this can lead to homelessness. Tons of taxpayer money is spent to address these problems, but it’s not working because I feel the $ is misspent. Also, we do have immigration laws and you’re likely more aware of that than most, but not everyone has to follow the same laws; this is wrong and has ramifications.
So, ya, Los Angeles was amazing pretty much all over. But today in 2024, you can find areas that still are, but also places where you would never want to go. Those bad areas are just growing & will continue until we get elected representatives in that come up with plans (or enforce existing laws) that actually work.
As far as costs, I’m going back to London in a few weeks and I’ll probably not be surprised about how much everything is. I consider myself to be a fairly good shopper, so I do look for deals when possible. Whole Foods and Gelson’s are more expensive than most grocery store, but download and shop the app deals. There are many free things to do in LA!
Health care insurance has pretty much always been linked to a full-time job here in the US. That’s great if people have full-time jobs, but now that’s all over the place. Retired people, poor people, low income people, and full-time employed people all normally have health insurance options. The problem is there’s some that don’t fit into any of those categories. So, the option is to get subsidized health care that’s too expensive for most. Here in California every person must have some form of coverage or else be penalized on their annual taxes, but many opt to pay that because it’s cheaper than having to pay for the subsidized health coverage. Many Californians look to “free” medical coverage as many envision it exists in, say, England, not fully comprehending that every citizen is taxed for that. Even if we were taxed for it, I am certain many of our elected reps would mess it all up just as they do everything. There’s virtually no diversity in California politics & we’re represented by the Democrat party, which sees itself as quite progressive. If they wish to see themselves as such, I say fine, but there also need to be accountability and solutions. California’s problems should be fixed and not getting worse.
Thanks for being here with us in California. We need all the good people we can get!
i hope that your cappuccino was at least real cappuccino,if you go to munich here where i live never buy a cappuccino for 4 Euro ,thats complete waste, thats nothing but frotted milk water and so less espresso that you cant even taste it ,and i talk about almost all stores in munich ,they just rip the people
I know exactly what you mean 😁 in Paris - forget about any coffee out 😂 cappuccino in 99% is absolutely not drinkable! For real coffee it’s only Italy for me 😉
Or I better make it home myself 🙂
