- We've got Cowboy updates flying at us from the NFL Draft combine in Indianapolis.
Let's talk about what we're learning about what Mike Zimmer wants in his defensive front seven, what Will McClay thinks about the players they're scouting in those spots and about the plan for Trey Lance with Dallas this season.
Also we know who the Cowboys are having their formal meetings with out in Indy and it's encouraging to me the position groups they're not afraid to take early.

Man, I truly believe Mazi is going to come back this year pissed off after being mismanaged by DQ, back to his original weight of 330 and ready to contribute at NT. Call me crazy, but I haven’t given up on him yet.

Ruke Oh Row Row Row - (heard him explain its like the "row row row your boat" song.
One position I have always want the cowboys to address but never seem to is safety… Koran Oladapo from Oregon State. Probably a day 2 or 3 but is a hard hitting safety that isn’t afraid to come up and stuff the run.
I agree they need a safety but they have several box safeties already.
Wilson, bell, and maybe overshown depending on how Zimmer uses them. I think we need a coverage safety.
@@duck-LND valid point… seemed like this past season teams had big plays because of the lack good coverage safety.

Jeff, where do you think Cooper Dejean is gonna go? I couldn't see a first round pick on a corner unless we're drafting a unicorn.
I like cooper over coulson at lb. He seems to be more instinctual and violent.

@@werebackGBO You have one legit young OG, an slightly above average Center, a right tackle who needs to fully recover from a major knee injury just to be average and the rest are aging vets, journeymen or unknowns.
The good thing about that position is good starters can be found between rounds 1-4 on a consistent basis.

Nolan smith is an under sized de who is often injured. He had an okay rookie year where he played a total of 18& snaps. Why would that be the comparison plus, judging the first three picks from last year so early is silly

Makes perfect sense. Cowboys got the 2021 NFL draft 1st round #3 picked player, for only a 4th round pick. Trey Lance is only 23 years old and he is a top 5 1st round draft pick. So the Cowboys don't have to use their 1st round draft pick on a QB. They got a 1st round 23 year old QB with a 4th round pick instead. It's genius.
On top of that the duk is the games premier Choker loser, need to move on to a Real QB..@@cowboybrown2356
@@cowboybrown2356 but now you're paying double for a player that has less experience than your current backup and you're probably not going to see him get real playing time before he's going to costs you 20 plus million and last year you knew he wouldn't get on the field last year either. Maybe it makes sense to you. Not to me.
@@cowboybrown2356 it doesn't make any sense. Just b/c he was the 3rd overall pick 3 years ago doesn't mean he would be in a re-draft. The dude has played like 20 total games at QB in his entire football life.
This same QB couldn't beat out Brandon Arnold for the alternate QB spot, couldn't beat out Sam Darnold for backup, and couldn't beat out Cooper Rush as our backup.
Why not just trade a 3rd for Zach Wilson since he was drafted 2nd overall? See how this logic works?
@@bdgrey Zach Wilson has a NFL career 73.2 QB passer rating. Trey Lance has a NFL career 84.5 QB passer rating. Lance is a whole lot better than Zach Wilson, and is not comparable. Lance is more comparable to Cooper Rush, who has a NFL career 83.6 QB rating. And we know the Cowboys can win games with Cooper Rush as their starting QB. Cooper Rush is 5-1 as a starter for the Cowboys.

Cooper Rush = 4 year NCAA starter, Dak Prescott = 4 year NCAA starter .. Both step in when starter goes down and do great job. Trey Lance = Only started 1 year in College, his Sophomore year. It's been 5 years since Trey Lance led a team.. NCAA or NFL.. through an entire season= Lance is a combine/QB- looks good on paper. Would be a total joke to put him in front of Rush.

Dallas likes mediocrity. Losing seasons bring top draft selections and winning seasons brings mostly mediocre players at skilled position…minus any flukes. 6/10 = Micah, 4-12 = Zeke n Dak, 8-8 was a fluke = CeeDee.
2024 draft should be about rebuilding the OL/DL and LB., at 24th there should be quality line players this draft. There isn’t enough draft capital to move up.
Replacing the center would go a long way to rebuilding the line.
Shud trade cee dee bears get 1 3 4 trade that 1 to Atlanta for theirs 2 and 3 bijon then trade micah to Washington for their 1 2 3 4 and Daron Payne now your set to be all in super bowl here we come
