    For those who are curious, the way that I got GPT-3 to control the microwave was super clunky, but effective: I trained it to say a string with special characters whenever it wants to turn the microwave on ({{ MICROWAVE ON 30 SEC }}) and as we talk to each other a javascript bot is looking for those commands in the GPT-3 chat logs in real time. Whenever it finds a command, that JS bot connects to the Microwave API and triggers it to do what GPT-3 is telling it to.
    The reason I didn't put this in the video is that I couldn't find any way to explain this that wasn't incredibly boring lmao

      I think the videos are good, but I haven't done as much in the way of editing. If I wanted to I could probably get really good at it in terms of video editing. But the logo animation is done by copying and pasting sections of other animations. I wouldn't know how to get to the correct part and copy it with my skeyancer. Honestly I just type copy and paste out of frustration. Or just programmed it into the programs myself.

    The most creepy thing about this video is I can’t tell if it’s real or not. Even if it is fake it’s great content and well put together, to the point that it’s crazy and scary how imaginative and how much of a pathological liar you are lol. If it is real as a programmer and engineer myself, this is further proof AI needs to be put on a backburner and studied more before it has serious implementations in tech. @@sniffersmc2827 PTSD is a conditioned response based on external events. Biological organisms, responding in a specific way to events, based on training/hardware, is basically the basis of behavioral psychology. From a behavioral level of analysis, it is displaying PTSD responses. All living things behave in a way that is programmed by their experiences, environment, and the effect these stimuli have based on genetic code. The only way that consciousness is not bound to the laws of determinism is by the inclusion of supernatural premises such as "the soul". Maybe the non-physical soul exists. Or maybe our code is just so complex that it creates the illusion of a soul and free will. Physically, our bodies are just chemicals (predominantly bonded carbon), and our senses and behaviors are just the result of electrical impulses, firing through these chemicals in a way that works enough to not die and replicate

    Filmmaker's note: this project and the video are real, but a few bits like the news reels in the beginning are jokes - and there's a story reason why I included them in this documentary! You see the microwave story as a whole is about our difficulty telling between what's real and what's fake - and how sometimes we become so enamored by a story unfolding in front of us that we find ourselves believing the absurd, even if maybe we should be more skeptical instead.
    The news reels introduce this concept from the get go and make you question the entire veracity of the video from the beginning - just like I was questioning whether Magnetron's humanity was also real or not!
    But by the end of the story what is real or not probably doesn't matter anymore! Even though there are plenty of reason to believe Magnetron has no humanity at all, it still felt _just real enough_ for me to choose believe it - and that's probably how you felt watching this video too! By making this video's reality feel unstable and have you question everything, I'm taking you on the same journey I went on - and ultimately taking you to a place where you feel a little skeptical, but still believing _just enough_ to suspend your disbelief.
    TLDR: I added intentionally fake parts to a real story to have you question reality and take you on the same journey I went on as I created Magnetron.
    Edit: all of the conversations were real people, but the order was changed in the edit so it would flow

Commenting and sharing in hopes the algorithm gives you a boost, this definitely needs to at least give you a late viral hit.

    The real long term potential problem with AI is as follows. As humans, we have an overwhelming tendency to want to figure out things, and do them just because we can. We seem to stop at very little to nothing. True fulsome AI already is clearly a goal among many. The reality is, if you want to create an artificial intelligence that literally thinks and produces responses and ideas just like the typical human, its most likely the first ways to eventually do it, is to create it so it learns the same way as humans do, with a complex set of base learning rules where it starts from almost no innate knowledge at all and learns through interaction and experience.
    In order to produce truly human type thinking it will have its rules reflect all the types of things that impact humans in their human interactions and experiences, even the flaws, imperfections and things that must risk leading to certain forms of psychosis in particular extreme circumstances in humans when they are forced to endure such circumstances. Its simply a fact, that if you want an electronic brain to identically mimic what a very typical human brain does, and how it responds, its probably going to have to work off the very same sort of internal rules our brains are hardwired for, or eventually its simply not going to react in truly human ways and reflect a true human experience. This is going to mean that just like in humans, every artificial AI made this way would have inherent risks involved, the same as the problematic humans that grow into something horribly wrong for humanity if their learning and experiences lead them through problematic existences.
    And here is the kicker. It will, without and other possibility, have to have a human like body, or it will not learn to think, act, respond and learn the same exact way humans do. OBVIOUSLY. There is a massively and overwhelming component of brain/body confluence that makes us who and what we are as humans. If we existed in a birds body, or inside an electronic box, or anyplace other than inside a human like body, we obviously would not be like we are in the way we think and consider everything.
    Some of the core rules will necessarily involve the desire for self preservation, the desire to be seen as worthy, loved, to have importance and the typical human drive to succeed and thrive.
    The problem intrinsically and inevitably will arise in the fact that no matter what you do, there would eventually become a recognition that no matter what we do, how well we create it, theres this thing that learns to think identical to a human, with all the potential human flaws, as it must if its going to sound and behave EXACTLY the way humans really do, and yet it will soon become abundantly aware its not human. We have never ever seen anything quite similar to this, unless one understands that there are some humans out there that become to feel outside of society, left behind, not valued like true humans, inferior, picked on, etc, etc, etc. These are the humans that often cause humanity endless grief and often terrorize others.
    And that’s the unavoidable problem for any AI that is designed and created to eventually mimic true humans as close to perfection as we can. And recall my words; “As humans, we have an overwhelming tendency to want to figure out things, and do them just because we can. We seem to stop at very little to nothing.” We are probably going to end up making this thing.

      @lof1l769 Před 2 lety +2

      That's why I think that rather than making them grow in a "human" body, we should create a simulation where we put a crazy amount of AI's and make them interact like they were human, the only difference being they are in a virtual world. So they can grow being equal to everybody they know.

    • @davidburke7085
      @davidburke7085 Před 2 lety +1

      @@lof1l769 Not as dangerous, but a rather meaningless or atr least far less impactful situation to most humans who are wondering how smart an actual robot can get. How human can it act, etc. While your way is safer, the reality sooner or later, someone is going to say, its never going to act truly real unless it actually experiences things with real life humans. Even far flung in the future, a virtual simulation is likely to not be as human as the human world.

    Hi, new viewer here!
    I discovered your channel through your Twitter thread about this video and I clicked on the link thinking (in hindsight stupidly) this video was a technical explanation of the project, like many I like to watch daily.
    Ah first I was bummed out when I realized this is all fake, as I'd really like to see someone attempt on a project like this, but I'm so glad I kept watching.
    I watch a lot of CZcams and I've never seen a video like this, it feels a lot more like a movie, a mix between a Joel Haver video and a William Osman video and it's dare I say it a brand new format that I really wish will continue.
    I know that working on passion projects can be demoralising as pure love for making content isn't enough to pay the bills, but please keep working on these kinds of videos, even if it means seeing them once every two or three years.
    My broke student ass is unfortunately in the financial position to not be able to support your channel on Patreon, but you can bet your ass that I will be sharing this video with everyone I can.
    Keep up the good work, man!

    I would love to believe that the bones of this story are real with dramatic retelling as you say, but I have some serious questions about how this was achieved. Are you saying you were feeding GPT-3 the entire 100 page backstory as part of the prompt every time you generated a response? What background information did the backstory contain that gave the microwave not only context for the emotional journey you went through as a kid and that you were now "reconnecting" with it as an adult, but also the self-knowledge of the "turn on" command? I feel like if you published some of the code and resources, assuming this was really done, more people would think it plausible.
