You guys have some great videos, but this is not one of them. Since you didn't actually compare the two systems, we are left to assume that the far cheaper DIY version was a pretty fair alternative at a much lower price.

Agree 💯 I installed the Mr Cool 4th Gen. DIY 24k and it was pretty easy to a degree. The DIY doesn’t standard for everything is included to complete the install. It means you do need to have to hire an HVAC Tech to pressurize the lines. As the Mr Cool includes their patented pressurized lines. This should have been covered in this video review. Also the Mr Cool 4th gen features heating and cooling functions, just like the professionally installed Mitsubishi mini split. Now here’s something that definitely should be noted, you will definitely need to hire an electrician to install the proper electrical breaker amp rating necessary to support your mini split specs. In addition, you will also need to have your electrician install an external disconnect switch and a whip connected to your external compressor. This is required in most states by code for all central air condition systems. Lastly, you will need to understand how to install an external slab or gravel patios block surface to sit your external compressor unit on or a home mounted stand, which will elevate the unit off the ground.
Overall, if you’re handy and know your way around heating and air condition type installations, this should be pretty simple job. As well as, experienced home DIYers with the right tools. Otherwise, be smart and hire professionals to 1) size your systems properly, 2) help you select the right a/c solution for your needs, 3) professional install and trim the lines aesthetically & 34) ensure long lasting life to your system.

I would agree the average diyer should leave these alone, especially the electrical side of it. That sound i just finished installing my 5th condensor and 12 head unit. They all work awesome and we use them for heating and cooling. We had a cold snap here in Colorado where it was in the negatives for a few days and the worked great. Im glad these were an option since pro installs would have been insanely expense.

Nice Vid. Would have been nice to do a comparison of how they worked and the price difference to install DIY and a Pro Install.

Yea what was the price difference between the DIY and "pro install"?

Great Question! In this case, The DIY system installed came to about $2,250 while the Mitsubishi installed came to about $6,500 including a 240V electrical circuit. So an extra $4250 for all of the benefits (which include a 12 year compressor and parts warranty on the mitsubishi)

@@marrsheatingandairconditio5891 Wow! I knew there was a premium for the Mitsu but had no idea it was nearly three fold. Gulp. I'm still on the fence but the value equation seems to go to Mr Cool, especially for our polebarn workshop situation. Thanks for the review.

That’s a pretty accurate price comparison, my 24K 4GEN Mr Cool installation was around $2550 for everything. Note, must consider the electrician’s cost to professionally install the proper electrical breaker, run the power line to the externally mounted disconnect switch and WIP needed for code. That should definitely be done by a licensed electrician and not the home owner. Good luck y’all!

That's too bad that you were sorta vague and not really comparing equally. Also, you did NOT install the line set on the MrCool correctly!
Maybe you should review that and rethink an update video ?
the Line set is to be laying Flat, so as not to collect/trap fluids, etc.
    Anyway better luck next time.

You should do it, make a video on how the installation goes and send us a link. we'll send you some free T-shirts and hats!! You'll also need to find a nitrogen supplier, nitrogen regulator, R-410A Rated refrigerant gauges, a flare tool, a flare depth gauge, Nylog, A 5CFM Vacuum pump with check valve, Core removal tools, Micron gauge, service valve wrench for Mitsubishi units and of course all of the equipment and materials. I would also recommend having a load calculation performed on the space you are trying to install the system. A good HVAC contractor will do it for you, but DIY and you will likely need a mechanical engineer. Best of luck and let us know how it goes!

Mr Cool doesnt stand behind their products. My 36000 btu unit developed a weird bearing noise thats so loud and irritating its a manufacturing defect and mr cool wants me to pay for the parts. Stick with Mitsubishi a well known reputable brand
Me cool still hasnt resolved my issues. And guess what when this junk finally dies ill be installing Mitsubishi or LG for my home

If you have an average home (1500 sft to 4500 sft), and live in the frigid north of the US or Canada, then Mitsubishi HyperHeat Multi-Zone is the most inefficient system for you. You are better off installing a Mr Cool Single Zone of Multi-Zone, because Mitsubishi multizone will short cycle frequently (going to ZERO to peak - shutting down and starting up), resulting in energy consumption of over 3000Kwh. Other companies have designed the systems to modulate but not Mitsubishi.
