- We built an outdoor cat enclosure out of cedar. With the exception of a little customization, we built this catio according to plans purchased from Catio Spaces (link below). This specific catio is called the 3x6 Haven. Enjoy!

That's a piece of art. I'm making all seater enclosed bench for my two kitties because I'm afraid to put them out anymore because of a scary Neighbor next door with dogs that get off the leash.
Thank you! Yes I always felt bad watching my cats staring through through the windows all day, but it's just too risky letting them outside. We have a lot of deer ticks where we live. They love the catio. They spend most of the day/evening sitting in it. Good luck with your project. Share some pics or a video when you're done!

All cedar I meant...I'm the typo queen.
If you build a separate area for a litter box protected from rain and with a lid you can easily access to clean you will find the cats prefer the outside litter box and your house will stay much cleaner
Yes I considered this. I just couldn't really come up with a way to incorporate it. If I could do this over, I would have made the main part of the catio a separate, larger structure so I could have done something like that. Thanks for the input! It must be nice to avoid having an indoor litter box.

Pro tip: Birch plywood does not have exterior rated glue, therefore, it should not be outside. Go to your local home store and purchase plywood with an 'X' rating. Example: CDX rated plywood has the correct glue for use outside. Zip System brand products work well too.
Yes I was hoping the stain I used would keep it safe outside. However the plys are now separating a bit. Wish I had gone with something like CDX. Thanks for the tip!!

Excellent! Could you please show us a better look at how you attached the shelves?
I believe I have a bit more footage of how I attached the shelves. I didn't include it here because it was difficult to get a good shot in those tight quarters. Can I answer any questions for you? I could post some of the footage if I can find it.
@@joshuawood6644 thank you for your reply. Good timing too. Our daughter's catio is coming together. It's about 8' by 4' 7" . It's a lot of work as you know and she wanted it big enough for her to get into it as well as her many cats. I'm sure she will want the shelves and catwalks added soon. We're making this all stand alone and on a patio. Then will attach a lean to corrugated roof once we secure it together. (likely tonight) I have an idea how to add the catwalks but have not seen a good picture or video just how best to do it. Anyway, great job with your setup.
Oh no! The birds may get ion trouble by having the feeder too close to the cats. By the way, fabulous catio!!

The screen material you used against the stairs will not protect your Cats from Mountain Lions, Bobcats or Coyotes.
I agree! If these animals were a concern where I live, I would have done something different.
What size metal wire did y’all used?
It is 2" by 3" vinyl coated wire.. we got it at Lowe's.
@@joshuawood6644 thanks for the information! We moved to a new location and Had my 17 year old cat escaped from one I build. He never returned. :( have 2 more rescue who I need to make sure it will never happen again
@@sleeks9939 ohh man that's awful! 17 years is a long time. I'm sure you're missing him. I hope he finds his way back home. The wire is pricey, but it's worth it! It's strong and will not rust.
@@joshuawood6644 thanks, I sure hope so. It is a new area and about 35 miles away from where we move from. Been so down and out and feel so bad like I failed him.
@Nancy Hollo I don’t think he would be able to find our old home it’s over 30 miles. :(
