- A video tour of the World's Biggest Cat Enclosure (Patio/Catio). Built from pressure treated wood and vinyl coated steel fence, this MASSIVE cat enclosure will last more than 15 years!

It features elevated platforms throughout with ramps and stairs with some featuring outdoor carpet. There are fun platforms to jump between, multiple cat houses for shelter on hot day or cold nights, and 4 large built in litter boxes (the largest having over 800lbs of sand!
There is an upper and lower level and the cat's must walk through a 50ft tunnel to get to the lower section that is nestled in giant oak trees that provide shade all day long.
The entire perimeter features a 28" deep steel no-dig barrier with a 24" tall double layer steel no-chew guard. Every inch is enclosed with a full steel wire ceiling to protect from predatory birds.

Using pressure treated wood is defiantly not good for cats. Especially when they start scratching all that wood framing.

My cats bolt out the moment I open the door and then it is a long time to get them back in. I am looking at this as something to do with my backyard, even if just a tall fence that cats can't climb. But then I think that the problem will be of them trying to get out of the property wherever they see a gate.

Perfect for rescue, non-kill shelters. I've rescued a couple of cats since we moved to this new place and now that I see this catio, I think how amazing would have been for them to have a place like this to hang out. I just rescued a pregnant momma and I am looking at videos to build a bigger home for her and future babies.

Clarification: I’m referring to the tall grassy plant with purple flower, not the clove. And I don’t know for sure they won’t eat, or if it (the plant) would kill them if they did eat it. I just know they had it where I once lived, is very pretty, and the ferals would hide in it. I have pictures of this, but no factual data that they never ate or died from it. Sorry if I misled anyone.

There need to be more covered areas and cubby/cozy areas too. Cats don't like wide open spaces all the time, they like smaller areas that make them feel safe & protected. Also needs more areas of regular grass for them to eat, more bushes & ground cover, and yes *_flowing_* water somewhere. This guy must not have cats himself. 😩

He said one of the plants was garlic. Garlic and onions can cause hemolysis in cats and dogs.
I think some of the plants and or flowers are poisonous to cats (garlic is). _Please_ have someone check with a vet or simply Google each flower and bush to find out. You've done a beautiful job and we want the kitties to be able to enjoy it! Meow!

Wow, that catio is huge. As other have stated, add some vertical climbing posts, fresh water, and remove the garlic.

DrgnMage2536 The cluent can add all the crap, but whats really nice about this is the lack of clutter so the cats can RUN. Most indoor cats don’t get that.
@@1catmac you don't know my indoor cat. At 2.30am she charges around the whole house and jumps over furniture, up and down stairs etc. She goes nuts and then crashes for the rest of the night.
Fresh water, preferably running water is a must. Cats are descended from the sabertooth tiger. As you can imagine big cats don't have a water bowl but drink from streams or rivers. Having a source of running water is essential for cats. I have a cat drinking fountain for my cat and she loves it and drinks a lot more water than when she had a water bowl. The running water continually oxygenates itself and thus stays fresher!
You definitely should give it a try!
If I had this, I would have over thirty cats! I’d be able to rescue less adoptable adults in addition to fostering kittens! This is now on my bucket list. 💜
This is the best catio we’ve seen so far. That’s how it should be, actually SPACIOUS, and with natural ground, with enough space for the cats to run and play and enjoy all the nature elements. This literally is catio goals for me, so inspirational.

This is beautifully made. we adopted 3 this past year and our kids love them. Trying to find ideas for ours to go out without them getting hurt by cars or coyotes.

This is the greatest cat enclosure that I could find the most perfect and will build it just like that. this is best done with wire mesh than with cat netting. simply WOW effect!!! so beautifully made, your cats will have a great time when it's finished! It would be nice if we could see your cats :) Lg Lady
The incredibly huge catios has everything, except cats (hopefully several for mutual company), food, and water sources such a continual churning pools to ensure the water remains fresh. Isn't this project conpleted yet or did the customer decide against it? Please provide 51 inquiring minds with an update that would be gratefully appreciated. Wa want to celebrate the conclusion of this amazing build with you!

Not all cats and dogs are allergic to garlic that’s a lie made by veterinarians so you only go to them my grandmother use to give a little garlic to her cats and dogs to ride if parasites and it’s also anti fungal and anti bacterial it’s also saved my daughter’s cat when he was having seizures and yes to much of anything is bad for anyone

You should add vertical climbing post to get to the shelfs to so the cats can actually climb instead of just walk up a ramp
Don't think anyone's gonna top this. This probably cost more than my house.
I might be mistaken but to me it looks easy to build and cheap enough. It is wood posts and mesh. The ramps and shelves are a bit more elaborate but can be added slowly later.

The “mesh” is steel and not cheap! I’d say this was 20-30g
I was thinking the same thing. Steel posts spaced further apart, in poured concrete footings, with cable horizontal runs, would have a nicer finished look and last longer for a lower price. Fencing seems overkill, not sure what he is trying to keep out.

Beautiful place for the cats, great work very well thought. Congratulations. Personally I would include some toys like tunnels and caves as well as moving things they can play with. Most important water fountains and small troughs they can drink water from strategically placed of course. For me, a project like that would be a funny joyful and fulfilling work in progress for years to come. Having said that, it doesn't mean that all those things are necessary for the cats to thrive 😁
One last note, when I was making a cat tree I was told that pressure treated wood contained arsenic. And I was told to use something else. I'm not sure if it's really a danger, but just thought I'd mention it. I don't know if cats clawing it might have any effect on them.

An awesome space for cats and it looks like a lot of thought and hard work went in to building it. I have two questions; 1. Are all the plants non-toxic? and 2. It seems that most of space is dirt under-foot...any plans to put something to keep the area from becoming a mud pit when it rains?

Love the whole idea and not just for cats. If you live in a place that wild animals frequent (mountain lions, snakes, predatory birds), this would be great for any of your pets - and humans.
Actually, garlic can be incredibly toxic to cats - even in doses as little as one small clove. In severe cases, garlic toxicity in cats can even lead to organ damage, organ failure or death. ...Garlic belongs to the allium family, along with onions, leeks, shallots and chives

Onions, garlic, chives, and leeks are in the Allium family, and are poisonous to both dogs and cats if the dose is right (if they eat a single large serving or repeatedly nibble on small amounts over time). Garlic is considered to be about five times as toxic as onions for cats and dogs

What a great outside area for cats!! I thought I heard you mention "GARLIC" when you were discussing the plants and I just thought I would mention that garlic is harmful to cats and dogs, too. There are even common plants that can cause death pretty quickly. Just thought I'd mention that in case somebody doesn't know. I've learned a lot thru the years because someone threw it out there. But what a beautiful kitty haven AND HEAVEN. My cats would love this!! Just think of how many more cats I can rescue with THIS phenomenal outdoor space!

Thank you, yes it really sucks. Haven't always had the problem, heck I even use to make my sister sick spinning the teacups at Disneyland. Seems like ever since my thyroid had to be removed I've just fallen apart with all kinds of new disorders. Some really weird ones too! Thanks again >^..^

This is just incredibly awesome!! You all may want to get some wool berber carpet remnants and size/cut/attach with velcro to boards the cats spend most time on - cats love to roll on wool berber and scratch their backs. Wool works very well outside. Can also get some non toxic glue and sisal and wrap around the pillars - just the lower portion up to 3-4 ft high. Will look nice, cover those metal parts, and provide scratching for the cat.
Dont forget some catmint plants - very hardy perennial. 😹😹🐯🐯🐯

My cats would enjoy this for about an hour then take a nap on their scratch pole inside where they feel the safest. This catio is definitely very cool.

Lucky kitties! Love catios. Mine is made out of a dog kennel: very simple but very secure and easy to take down if I ever have to. Mostly shade cloth on the top. My cats have 24/7 access from the master bedroom and they love it.
How often do you think you will have to change your sand? Or did you fix it so you don't have to? I have a couple of large dog houses enclosing 14 gallon Rubbermaid containers with litter for mine and they work well.

I'm sure there are holes in the bottom for drainage. Just scoop the solids and the rain or hose will clean the sand.

I was thinking that the rain is not factored in because the ground doesn't look level and there's no drainage... (Would the large sandbox be like quicksand?) Also,there doesn't appear to be a way to easily open the tunnel walkway to remove cat poop or add more gravel as it washes away.
