Your Catio is by far the most impressive Kitty Kompound (KK), I've ever seen!! We have 14 cats and live in the desert 🏜️, (which means coyotes), therefore only certain fur-bugs can go outside while supervised for short periods of time only. The others (cats) 😸😺😽😻😹😽🙀😺😽😾😹😼😻have an indoor/outdoor to Catio and they just love it. They hang in there a ton. However, you guys still take the cake 🎂 and champagne 🍾 on your brilliant design idea, time, effort, energy, care, thought, concern, comfort, etc. I thought my animal's lived the life of Royals 👑👑and Royalty 🏰 🏰. You guys are such dedicated owners,to spend so much time and money for your kitty's,they are lucky.Some people will just let them wander outside,which is very dangerous,this way the cats can enjoy sunshine and fresh air and nature,without any problems,like stray dogs,cars or people abusing them.

If you have the space, finances, this is a great way to share the yard with your cat(s). It doesn’t really intrude on the aesthetic of the garden, and the main parts of the enclosures are cat and human friendly! The elevated catwalks are a great use of space no one uses.

Wow, that is an awesome way to have kitties outside and still get fresh air and exercise, plus live a safe life. When I had an apt I screened in my patio for my cats but not anything like this. Very lucky cats. I take it the other cats are all in the house since we only see one in the catio.

The others come and go as they please. Sabrina was our star at that time..... The catio is 5 years old now and we are still very grateful for it.

What a truly amazing and highly creative outdoor home for your cats! I love how many different paths, little houses, ladders, trees, and everything else you have inside. This is truly an inspiration for all cat lovers and catio builders. There's so much space and so many places to explore! I can only echo other's comments, that I'd spend as much time in there as the cats. :) I hope you don't mind if we 'borrow' some of your ideas for our own new catio. We have the basics in now, but still needing to add some of the finishing touches, like toys, plants, little covered areas, seats for us, etc.

Best catio set up I've ever seen. You seem to have thought of everything - even covers on the "roof" of your walkways and you've made the walkways themselves high enough for the cats to run as fast as they like without having to crouch. Thank you so much Mary!!! Yes, once we forgot to close the door and some of the cats walked outside the catio but stayed in the yard.... We live with several potential predators but since the catio, we can report that everyone is safe.

Hello C. Bryce, well the design while not perfect came from my head. When you build yours look for unused corners with shade and privacy in the yard and imagine seeing it as a cat would. Please update us.

This is GOALS for real! How do you prevent wasps from building in every nook and cranny? I live in Southwest Idaho and we have SO MANY wasps and hornets each summer.
Hi Edith! Wasps, nasty cads. The only solution that I have found is monitor daily and remove nests as early as possible. Seems to work for us...

We converted our conservatory into a cats playground and constructed a sky hammock which they can access from a 2.2metre cat tree in the middle of the room. Could never do it, the bears and mountain lions would break that weak fencing in a heartbeat.
Oh Todd, we are sorry to hear this. We have seen a catio that has chain linked fencing buried several feet for large predator protection. On the other hand, if a little kitty saw a bear it would likely never go back inside the catio.
@@OurCatioHomeWe are presently working on discouraging two cubs from being in the area. The poor cubs are likely to be shot by those who don’t want bears and mountain lions around. The bears don’t care how deep the fence is buried, they will use their paws and body weight to take it out. I finally saw the wild fox tonight after the cubs didn’t come around today. They’ve been coming during daylight for several days just to sniff around. Last fall a mountain lion came around but then disappeared and hasn’t been back so hopefully it went into the higher forest away from people. I’m glad some can have these outdoor catios.

Hello! What are the dimensions of your catios, and/or what is roughly the square footage that the cats have? Thank you so much for posting your videos; they're really inspirational!
The large was is around 70 feet long, by 8 feet wide. The others were made to fit the space, ie the trees and are smaller. I don't know how much square feet because the shapes in some are not squared... Thank you most kindly for asking Claire!
Love it 😻. BTW. I have wanted to rebuild my fence in that style, I am told they are much more weather resistant, allowing wind to pass through them instead of blowing them down. Can I ask, do you have any close ups of how that was constructed?
Thank you for the kind words and question. Yes, the "box style" fence is god allowing more air movement and is still standing. Lots of close ups in our channel videos too.

Good for you dennis, please keep us posted as to your catio project. I washed the catio down at least twice a year but mostly to get rid of the dust and dirt. There's a cat litter box in there of which they will use. Check out my video on catio design flooring to learn more about this important element..
Wouldnt it be safer for the cats to have a smaller holed mesh to enclose the area to keep out harmful bugs ?
Hello Jackson! I am sure it would be if we live in an environment with harmful bugs, fortunately this is not the case here.
A beautiful catio and a beautiful, huge yard. I find myself wondering how much time and labor it takes to maintain both. Raking, watering, digging, planting. But also means you'd have to walk around to find them if you can't see them immediately from the house, some bushes occlude line-of-sight. Is there some sort of removable barrier system so you can take a cat out without it running to the next room (zoos call it a squeeze box, a panel they can slide in). Like if there's a storm approaching or you want them to stay indoors for the night, or you need to bring them in for medication, or getting them to the vet for routine visits, or something like that, how easy will that be to catch them? Looks like you live in a beautiful quiet area, you're lucky. I've got raccoons invading where I live, so my catio would have to be more predator proof, and we have roaming cats in the neighborhood, and I'd want to keep them apart so no diseases could be communicated. I wouldn't want or be able to build snd maintain something that big or expensive. What a job! :)
Hello Mary! I can tell you I've spent a lot of time considering all the design features. yes, there are many times where I go out there and bring them back inside. For example, if we're having an approaching bad storm, a very cold night, or just because they come in. Each catio has a entry door so all I have to do is go in and carry them out. They're used to the sound of the food bowl so when they hear that they usually come right to the house. We have found that the cats enjoy having us in the catio with them. Each of our catios have a place to sit. It's funny, sometimes I cannot spot them right away because I do have so many hiding features, but eventually we'll find them. I appreciate so much your comments and thoughts and encourage you to start with a smaller project and build on it as you see fit. Please let us know how your project turns out, okay?
