    This is a brilliant video - thanks for taking the time to make it. Two things that would help further (A) video of all flaps working correctly for reference and (B) an explanation of the function of each coloured arm - I know the green is the demister but unsure on the rest. Thanks again for producing the video - really appreciate your work.

    Excellent and very clear video. Mine is the driver side yellow arm motor, you're right it is a bit tricky and a low profile socket set would be handy as the space between it and other components is very tight.

    Hi,
    I have a b8.5 3.0tdi and its a bugger for misting up. I took the scuttle off thinking there would be some soggy leaves there to find that my recirculation flap works in the opposite way to how it should.
    Have you heard of this?
    When recirculate is on the flap opens
    when recirculate is off the flap closes which is where it defaults to.
    Also when the recirculate is off according to the button the fans are noisier like they would be when recirculate is on. Suggestion that the flap is doing the opposite of what it should.
    Have you heard of this?
    Cheers

    I've gone two winters without heat coming from all the drivers side vents; center vent, windscreen vent, footwell vent and the vent closest to the drivers side mirror. is there on specific motor that controls all these or do i have to change all the corresponding motors? lastly, my engine temp takes a while to heat up, and when it does, it doesn't get to half way until i've driven the car for at least 20-30mins. I GENUINELY NEED HELP AS IS BEEN A REALLY COLD WINTER. Thanks in advance.

  • @randomvideouploader2022

    Hi there, I know it’s an old video but on my Audi B6 2004 (54reg) cabriolet I have an issue with getting it to go hot, only on max temperature (HI) will it be warm not hot and generally it initially blows hot for about 10-15 seconds as it feels like there’s a build up of hot air and once the blowers start pushing through it drops to almost cold but can feel a slight bit of warmth , any ideas what motor could be causing the issue?
    would be a pain to take it apart twice once to diagnose the issue and again to fix it, would like to order a part and do the job all in one day

      Thats the motor gear skipping over the next gear, i think the position sensors ( rheostat ) dirty or damaged. It seems to be a sealed unit inside the motors gearbox so i cant fix mine, except to replace it. The A4B5 uses a similar but different unit. Im getting hot from one dashboard vent, & cold from the other.

    • @martinee4901
      @martinee4901 Před 4 lety

      I took out all of the actuators & cleaned the rheostats & not much difference. I still get cold non the passenger's side & variable control on the drivers side.
      Also the intake/recirc flaps not moving.
      I can get them to move by shorting out or shifting the rheostat but if the red ones plugged in, it simply goes to cold on passenger's side & stays there.
      If I plug the rear upper/mid/low plug into the red motor I can get it to move into the hot position & then unplug it & leave it like that. It's winter here.

    Great video. I have a problem with my a3 TDI. Heater gets warm after 10 minutes then goes cool. Do you think it could be one of these motors? I have had thermostat and pump changed out or something more serious like the heater matrix?

    • @TotalTechnik
      @TotalTechnik  Před 6 lety

      Hmmm. I would guess likely not the motors - but worth looking as you never know (maybe one is sticking rather than faulty).
      Yes, I would have said thermostat - but you replaced that already so that should be good.
      It will be a case of elimination to trace it. Could be heater matrix.

    Hi, i had a quick question. I bought an audi a4 b7 1.8t 2005 however the ac don't work. I took it to a mechanic and he informed me that there was no ac compressor on the vehicle. So now am looking for a new one which will go on the audi. I need some advise on where to buy one online and how would i know which ac compressor will fit on the car piping system. Thank you

    • @TotalTechnik
      @TotalTechnik  Před 4 lety

      Did he mean that the car was never fitted with an AC compressor, i.e. the car did not have air con at all? Seems odd for a 2005 car! Or did he mean it's physically missing (i.e. been removed and not refitted)? That said, if this was the case the aux belt would not fit. Sounds interesting!!

    Hi my climate drivers side is blowing cold air until I put it on a very high temperature, do you have any ideas the passenger side is running fine, I have run test but no fault codes.

    • @TotalTechnik
      @TotalTechnik  Před 6 lety +1

      Hey there! This may be the yellow motor on the drivers side. You should drop the lower panel down under the steering wheel so you can see the yellow motor, and see what it's doing.
      You might see that it does not move until you are pushing enough current through it with the high setting. That would be the first thing to check, as that controls hot and cold to the drivers side so that is a likely cause.
      It should move in line with the rising temp, but you might see it does nothing, and then suddenly starts to move when one highest tempurate. If so, replace it and you should be good to go.
      You can get them used on eBay for decent money if budget is tight.
      Best of luck!

    • @TotalTechnik
      @TotalTechnik  Před 4 lety +1

      A good question, but I think the answer is likely no. You'd need to get the correct coloured one to replace the same coloured one. You should be able to diagnose which one is faulty quite easily as by playing with the settings you should spot one that does absolutely nothing - if so that's the one to change! Best of luck!

And the very right one is blowing 11 degrees.. its not cooling enough... do you Think its One of These??? Hope for Some Answers....

    • @TotalTechnik

      Hmmm! It could well be one of the flaps is not operating, or partially operating. For the time it takes to run this test, I'd do this first before considering anything bigger. If you're lucky you'll spot ths issue and it will be easy to fix. If you're unlucky at least you can rule out these motors completely and delve deeper.
      Best of luck with it!

      Hey there! No, they should not be identical. They are colour coded on this platform - the arms and also the spindles that turn the motors themselves. Take a look at the video again and you'll see it.

    • @TotalTechnik
      @TotalTechnik  Před 6 lety

      Hey there! Yes, we tend not to put them in too often because there are lots of variations, and part numbers that superceed those found in these older cars. So unlikely to be very accurate.
      It is better to check the part number on your original one, and then match that up to ensure you get the exact right one for your particular car.
      It might be worth trying eBay to find a used one and save some money along the way :-)

    So if the air doesnt blow from one direction means that motor is broken and needs to be changed?

    • @TotalTechnik
      @TotalTechnik  Před 3 lety

      Well, it can be other factors as well, but a quick check on the actions of the climate motors before delving deeper as it is so easy to do and very often is the cause. You can remove the glovebox in 5 minutes, and start checking. If you find a motor that is not moving nomatter what variations of direction and heat/cold you move, then that's your problem spotted! Best of luck!

    • @TotalTechnik
      @TotalTechnik  Před 2 lety

      Hmmm, an interesting one. I'd probably be looking towards the high pressure switch as a likely cause in this instance (unless that's what you meant by AC switch?). You should go back to the garage as it sounds like they've charged for a lot of work that may have not been necesary, and so hopefully they'd try and resolve to get a happy customer? Worth a try at least! Best of luck!
