He wakes up at 10 AM every day. He sits on his ass, turns on a camera, and plays video games. His idea of hard work is my idea of a day off. Midnight releases were never work to me. They were things I enjoyed with my buddies. This "man" is such a child about things that are meant to be fun.
Midnight releases *were* work to me when I was 20-ish. Afterall, I did work for the equivalent of GameStop at that time.

I reviewed games for seven years for all the best print magazines. I had a Fed Ex and UPS sticker on my mailbox because I was constantly receiving early builds from companies. I signed nothing that limited or restricted how I or the magazine would review a game beyond an embargo of when the review could be published. We trashed games that deserved it and praised games that deserved it. This is a month before the games were released to the public because the magazines had a lead time. He’s full of shit.
Hard work to DSP is standing in a line to buy a vid-e-o game and then rushing home to play it.

I can see why Machinima folded up. I wouldn't want to deal with DSP either. He's the ultimate example of you can lead a horse (or in this case, a jackass) to water but you can't make him drink. No matter what opportunity was presented to him he found a reason to stick his nose up at it. He then acts surprised that those offers are no longer being offered to him.

Phil is nostalgic for the past because that was when he understood (better, at least) how to play the CZcams game. He could get a game on release day, turbo through it and make bank off the Day 1 inflated views.
Now things have changed and instead of trying to adapt to the new meta, which Phil never wants to do, he'd rather stagnate and complain how stupid the system is. He could absolutely be doing better with a few changes but he'd rather just be bitter.
And Phil got games early back then, he even wanted money from his viewers to cover the cost of of one of those free games.
My head canon for DSP in early youtube is that he infact inspired people to become youtubers but not because they admired him but because even back then people realised "holy f*ck i can make way better content than THAT GUY" And thats exactly what happened, people hopped onto direct capture and DSP refused and people made way better content. DSP is his own worst enemy if he gave the smallest of f*cks about his content he could legit still be a well known creator with a real 16 year legacy. But he choose the begging route and now here we are.
My wife got a finance degree about a year and a half ago. Within a few months of graduating she was making easily 90k, and has since gotten a promotion. Phil could easily get a job

I reACK-ted to this live yesterday. This was an emotional and physical endurance test. When he magically added "People who are already rich" as a reason why those content creators shouldn't get early access, I was floored. DSP hides his reasons for his objections by masking them with copious amounts of virtue signaling, but every so often the mask slips. It really is disgusting.

Scripts take a long time to write sometimes. I did a Fallout 4 review recently - 11 pages long script, over an hour of voice over (shrunk to about 48 minutes) that takes multiple takes to record and sometimes multiple days! Plus, all the editing afterwards. It took me 3 weeks to wrote that script alone because I kept re-writing parts, making sure I mention everything I want! It takes longer if I try avoiding spoilers bc script must be written in a way that allows me to communicate my thoughts and keep the intrigue for the viewer.
It goes without saying that DSP has no concept of what kind of effort and time sink people put in their content when they strive for quality and professionalism. No wonder though, he couldn’t review a tv show without spoiling everything. Yet he has the audacity to bad-mouth other creators who actually give a shit.
All that shit about receiving games for free and that it's unfair for journalists to get free copies of games, yet he neglects to mention that he received a free copy of Fallout 4. Ever the hypocrite, our Philip Paul Burnell.

He wasn't going "raw" for games. It's a known fact he desperately wanted the approval of everybody in the gaming scene. So he read back and forth guides to know as much as he could so he could seem knowledgeable, and even then, he would be stuck for minutes looking for that one secret he thought was useful for cheesing the game.

While Phil might have been considered for review copies of games before, he was pretty much blacklisted because his reviews only bashed on the games and had little to no constructive criticism. Only smaller studios sometimes contact Phil now because they did not know of how DSP actually is, but since Phil doesn't know when to shut up and hide certain things, the detractors contact the companies who give Phil review copies and show his history, and 99.9% of the time, they pull their support from Phil.
I have had a rough week but it is soon ending. I just want to say Atlas you are my favorite detractor and will always be THE guy i look forward to watching on my lunch break of after work. That being sais keep doing what you have to do king

At the end there when you say he can’t keep his attention on the game, he definitely has ADHD. You can see him get hyper-focused when he plays Street Fighter. All of it is because he has ADHD and he was probably never tested for it.
