I just read the original Cycle magazine road test from August 1979 on this and the KZ1000Shaft. The MkII was one of the best looking Kawasakis of all time.
Not true who ever wrote that story was smoking dust of all times Lol...🤣
Eddie Lawson's first Superbike. In the past I had two Z 1000 ST. But the MK 2 was still my favorite one. Very nice!
I was blessed, cuz i bought my 1979 MKII for $300 with 8,989 miles on it. Took me a year to slowly getting it 95 % done. And yes, it is a beast on the road!
I did factory original cosmetic Restoration like show Room condition took me 1yr 1/2 I ben doing this since 1979 motorcycle vintage cars takes lot time not easy.
1978 was first year for Z1R, then in 79 they had the kz1000 MK2, Then in 80 the Z1R, then in 81 the GPZ1100, then in 82 and 83 the Eddie Lawson Replica, then in 84 the first Ninja, the Ninja 900, then in 85 the GPZ 750 TURBO.and on and on. Gotta Love Kawasaki.
Im about to become a proud owner of a Z1000 ST -79 in restored mint condition. Second best thing.
Better!
I was fun of this bike when I was teenager, I remember very well
Sweet, had an 80 Ltd 1000. Front fender looks like mine.these are classic!
Bought a brand new blue one just like that...Great memories. Last of the 1015cc engines...
That’s a bad boy.. makes me miss my 77
That bike started it all for me
Beautiful bike. I like the red version better but it's taken a while. I hated the Mark II when it showed up at the dealer I love the flowing classic lines of the Z1 and the square Mark II made me gag in 1980. 41 years later I dig the Mark II and wish I could locate one hidden in a garage somewhere.
Plenty hidden in England
I like both Honda and Yamaha but there is something about Kawasaki that is so unique and special
You got thank Mr Honda for building KZ bikes for kawasaki back in that time that's what your eyes is looking at its Honda bike KZ the owner of design is Honda motor company Live and Learn your History on your likings instead
I bought one of these brand new in 1979 ! It was a rocket for it's time 🏍😁
What wrong model ?
Who made you the expert ? Wrong model... that's your opinion keep it to yourself
@@st-qd8wg Stage 3 Sceaming Eagle 95ci 104 hp - NOT meant for sissies like you !
I have mine that I inherited from my dad. It's been painted a darker maroon and is all stock. 16,000 miles. It needs to be totally gone through as it hasn't been started in 20 years.
If u want to sell it as is call sr 860 916 9784
My first street bike at 17. It was a 1979 bored out to 1105 and had a series 3 cam and kerker pipe. So much compression that it needed to be kicked started. One bad bike.
Loved mine.
I bought this exact same beautiful blue bike back in 1979 from my uncle's Kawi shop in Sacramento. At the time it was the quickest 1L bike out there, go up a few teeth on the final drive sprocket it would smoke the rear tire. Impressive at stoplights, lol. Not a great handling bike, but it looked awesome and waaaaas it quick.
the accents on the tank and tail fairing really make it pop.
looks pretty bad arse.
Stunning, a bike and a half 😃😃
I just picked up one in a storage auction a few days ago.
I have to visit 1 day
i like those mag wheels cool bike.
My best friends dad had one and when I was 14 we decided to take it out while he was at work one night. We did it almost every night for months until I ended up getting arrested on it. Looking back I don't even know how we survived because I rode the hell outta that bike. My only experience prior was riding an RM50.😳🤣
thats a nice bike
Great nice bike 🙂
I rode one to school my senior year 1990. 79 model I think. Except mine had a z1r gas tank on it.
That is one beautiful bike its mint
fantastic
Mad max
bad ass bikes always have been
Did you say you never had a MKii at your museum before? You most certainly did - an original MKii came from Maryland to your grand opening show. We actually had it in the museum on Saturday and then at the show on Sunday. Just thought I would jog your memory.
How much did it end up selling for? I wanted to see the wheelies out in the drive way!!
I had one it's a beast
You got be strong in shape and know what you're doing it's not for everyone
At least it doesn't have stupid k&n pod air filters. Pod filters=someone who is too lazy to get the carb to airbox rubber boots back on.
Negative, some may do that. Makes more power with a quality set of pods and proper tuning. And the one in the video needs some carb tuning. Sounds like a twin when ya rev it. Front fender is a LTD/CSR unit. MK2 had a bigger one.
@@1234597114there mechanic is not good with carburetors I noticed it's very tuff to tune carburetors you got have patience most mechanic don't take time tune it properly Negative i prefer factory air filter Runs way better fuel air ratio is on point with factory original. Instead keep it oem
WOW
Nice
Great Bike!!! (for some reason,I stopped getting your notifications)
Whaou elle est belle lol !!! 👍
Wow.
I had a 1979 MK11 KZ1000 payed 200.00 for it not running. Put it in the garage 15 years later sold it on eBay 6500.00 still not running.
You are the man.
That dose not qualify a comment yet till you do your part repair motorcycle or let someone else take it for 200 give to good home I can not stand people destroy old bikes look at it sitting in garage or yard getting rusted all taken apart idots
I can't find the listing to bid

THATS TOP OF THE LINE IT DON'T GET NO BETTER 💯💪🏾💪🏾🔥👍🏾👍🏾🔥🤘🏾🤘🏾🎤
How much did it sell for? I missed it☹️
Sad part is someone wishes they could buy it and rip it apart and drag it........the good part is.......fuckers mint 👌
Can this bike run on unleaded fuel or does it need to have lead additive mixed with the fuel?
Yes
@@KaplanCycles sorry which bit are you replying yes to?
