- To take you on a tour of Ocean City OC Bike Fest 2021 we decided to jump on our beloved 1977 Kawasaki KZ1000 and take you for a ride up the eastern coast. Along with enjoying every minute on our restored KZ 1000 we show you some of the coolest Choppers, Baggers, Harley Davidsons, Motorcycle light installs, motorcycle wheel and suspension companies, a big motorcycle rally / party by the Ocean City, Md. Boardwalk and a whole bunch more wild motorcycle festival activity. We then take the KZ 1000 back to Larry “Spiderman” McBride’s shop to see how she performed. All in all, counting our trip to Virginia Motorsports Park, it was 700 miles on a 45 year old motorcycle!

I bought my Kawasaki Z1 900. 36 years ago and I still have it. And now its on it’s fifth restoration. I put a 20 inch custom swing arm low ride it’s a stretcher bike all black. Four into one kerker exhaust. Put Wiseco racing pistons 1015 kit after while it started blowing smoke. so now I had to bored it out to a 1045 kit with Wiseco pistons again. I drive with six other guys all old Kawasaki KZ 1000. with all four into one exhausts it’s like “Mad Max” We have a great time. We all knew each other years ago. We still on our bikes or bought different ones and had them restored, it’s a sight to see and hear us coming 😎. “You gotta love that 4 into 1 especially from a Kerker exhaust system.”
I love all 3 of my KZs 76 900, 77 1000 Drag bike and my pride and joy 78 1000.

I REMEMBER BACK IN THE 80'S ON AN OLD STRETCH OF HIGHWAY MOVING ALONG FAST ENOUGH THAT ALL THE TREE'S WERE BENT, I PASSED A COP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE LIGHT'S WENT ON. HE NEVER WOULD HAVE CAUGHT UP TO ME IF I DIDN'T PULL OVER DOWN THE ROAD. NEEDLESS TO SAY I PULLED OVER FOR A COOL DRINK AND TWO MINUTES LATER THE COP PULLED IN BEHIND ME. HE SAID DO YOU KNOW HOW FAST YOU WERE GOING? I SAID NOPE WAS LOOKING AHEAD WHILE I WAS TESTING OUT THE NEW YOSH KIT IN MY 78 Z1R. HE WAS A COOL COP, GOT ME AT 145MPH! WAS TOLD TO SLOW DOWN AND HAVE A NICE DAY!!!! THE GOOD OLD DAY'S..

If I didn’t stop for a red light I never would have gotten caught. 5:30 in the morning go figure , he was at Dunkin Donuts. I was flying up a empty road He chased me 5 miles with his siren off . I did not see or hear him until he turned his siren on at the light I was stopped at.Tricky guy , got me at 105 in a 45. That ticket sucked HARD. I LEARNED WHAT A CRIMINAL LAYWER WAS. I STILL LOVE MY 81 KZ I also Don’t need to lose my license again.
@@cycledrag My favourite has always been the 78 Z1R 1000 . The bike was way ahead of it's time with the triple drilled disk brakes. to many people died on these bikes when they first came out!

I have legit '76 Kawasaki LTD 900, I just received from a good friend of mine, meaning, (gave it to me), I raced this bike in the late 80's and early '90's, it's gonna get restored back to 1976 standards!!!👍👍
You would be surprised how much more comfortable the flat z1 seat is. I have a Z1 seat on my ‘80 1000 and it’s all day comfort
I was 20 years old 1981, rode this same bike from indy to Portland, Oregon. South to San Francisco and back Colorado Springs, stayed 2 months and back to indy. Never a problem. Time of my life. Be safe brother

Last September, I rode my 78 Gs1000 8800 miles and hit 22 states. This year I rode the Run What You Brung class at the Bub event.

I've Rode from Michigan to Tennessee and back my oldest son rides his bike from Flager Beach Florida to Kalamazoo Michigan and back to Florida every summer that's his favorite adventure

Bought a new KZ1000LTD in 1977.. Bought a 1991 Harley FXLR and a 2014 Victory 8 Ball and still have all three. The KZ1000 is one of the best engines ever put in a Motorcycle and would still trust it on any long trip today.

I was 13 that in '77 and my Dad always road Hondas. Kawasaki were best for Motocross, back when they went to Carlsbad. I didn't appreciate the the Kawasaki until just recently when I started watching this awesome YT channel called CycleDrag.
It's awesome that cycle drag came through my home town on the eastern shore

Love these rally videos! I am disabled and am not sure I am going to be well enough to make it to Daytona this year. I am from south jersey but they do the OC bike week the same weekend as the NJ state fireman’s convention so I always miss it.

Is your kz stretched? I remember one of my old kz's was stretched 4 inches and I had to move my taillight and fender back.

In the late 80' I stripped down and rebuilt a z750 with full fairing. It took about three weeks due to repainting.

@@cycledrag I’ve had TONS of scooters over the years with nearly all makes & styles. But for the over all usefulness & fun I’m going with my old KZ-P1000! Something about those old KZ1000 police specials that hold a spot in my hart. It was basically a bulletproof platform that you could ride for days pain free. They didn’t take much in modifications for getting a little extra grunt, a beautiful sound, along with having the heavy duty electrical system for the stereo & extra lights. You also can’t ignore that it was basically a sport bagger with floorboards, heal-toe shifter, & a truly functional crash cage. Dang-it man, now you’ve got me thinking about shopping for another one…..
Gadzooks, man! Upgrade those electrics! The regulator and rectifier are prone to catching on fire. The stator is weak and the rotor delaminates and just quits with no warning. That system is a ticking time bomb, not kidding. All new, modern replacements are now readily available, no excuses for staying with OEM.

I personally recommend the sh775 rectifier/regulator that came on Polaris and a couple of Harleys. Have a 78 kz1000 I pulled out of a barn 15 years ago
