People don’t need to actually watch the video now lol
Your a saint
I wish I could give you money
Thanks man
This helps me process the info while I watch this video, thank you sm!!!!
Dr. Maxfield has a great smile. Even when delivering not so great news, he’s just joyful. But I really like Dr.Shah’s sense of humor. Lol But the content of these videos are just so informative and honest-I’m honestly hooked.
Thank you 🙏🏽 that means a lot! I definitely have the better sense of humor 😜 - Dr Shah
@@Doctorly I didn’t say “better” lol but I guess the reply is exactly what I’m talking about 😆😂
He always says really serious things like it’s no big deal 😂😂
@@evelynreyes6716 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I came back to this video to say that I shaved my legs using all of these tips and following your product recommendations and my legs have never been softer! This is the best shave I’ve ever had; normally my legs are really bumpy and irritated after shaving but your instructions completely prevented that! Thank you so much for your content, your retinoid video helped me tremendously as well in helping minimize irritation when easing into tretinoin. Thank you for everything you do, I truly can’t thank you enough! Much love, ❤️😊
Thank you SO much for the feedback. So glad to hear it was helpful and that things are going well!
@@Doctorly Awww thanks for replying, I love you guys! Keep up the amazing work! ❤️
Came here one year later to say the same thing! I NEVER heard of Gillette Skinguard before this video and I’ve hated shaving for years thanks to eczema. One shave with this razor and my skin doesn’t feel destroyed. Women-specific marketing needs to go! Thanks for the amazing work you both do. ❤
*Just a quick appreciation for these two heroes* Thank you so much!
Could you do a video of what causes hair loss and how to prevent? Love the honesty felt through your videos!
Can you make video about ingrown hair after waxing/sugaring? And how to get rid of red marks after ingrown hair:( thank you 🙏😘
This could not be more perfectly timed! I was just thinking about this very topic yesterday, and here we are less than 24 hours later! Thanks guys!
Heyyy!! could you talk about dark underarms especially for brown girls who shave?
I second this notion! Please do a video on that.
Yeesss I`d love that
Omg yes please! Can you make a video on this
Yes as well as dark private sensitive areas !!
I've been using sudocrem and glycolic acid toner! I also moisturize heavily and I'm using dove aluminum-free deodorant and it's almost completely cleared up
literally out here saving my life!! XD ive changed and adapted so much of my routine to an effective one thanks to you guys! Thanks so much!
Dude you guys seriously rock, this video is immensely helpful and well presented. Appreciate what y’all do as professionals, thanks for sharing!!
OMG! I’ve been trying to figure out the proper steps to apply products after shaving for almost a year now!!! I have to line up my beard tomorrow and can finally try out a solid plan that actually makes sense! Thank you!
Thank you so much guys!!! This was really needed, razor bumps/ingrown hairs are so irritating. You guys have really helped me ❤️ this is my favorite skincare channel 😊
Hi guys, wanted to say an enormous thanks as an aged personal carer for some great tips!!! Alot of my old guys get alot of redness from bad shaves so I shared your vid as a workplace education for the students/new staff scared to shave
So glad I found your guys’ channel! It’s been a journey trying to sift through all the branding schemes in physical products and sponsored content. Finally a place to find reliable and high quality info for skincare.
You guys rock!
Try Bump Patrol in all honesty, May seem like a shameless plug. Really just trying to help anyone out with a solution to razor burn if they have it.
Video request:
Body exfoliation and all the different types. Korean cloth, coffee scrubs? Sugar scrubs? Chemical creams, face cloth, loofa? Diy recipies? How often? Over done? Different age groups needing different things and frequency? Hot, cold showers? Dry brushing, how to properly and before and after effects on skin and overall health?
God yes... I really need to know if this loofah is bad for me
@@calypsovaldez8170 I’m no expert but loofahs are known for trapping in bacteria if you don’t switch them out often enough! I switched to a silicon scrubber a few months ago and I love it even more than my loofah, especially knowing it’s antibacterial
Coffee scrub is just messy, did it once. I prefer sugar scrub
@@calypsovaldez8170 lol 😂 🤪🤪🤪
@@jeanineshraim3102 very interesting!! Can you link the type of silicone scrubber your using please? I’d love to check that out too!! Thank you for sharing!!
Can you guys do a video about body care? E.g. scrubs, body washes, lotions, etc.
Yes we can!
@@Doctorly Thank you! It's something that is rarely talked about, but is very important!
@@Doctorly please touch on whether you should exfoliate and how: exfoliating gloves, body brushes?
@@Doctorly please include whether dry brushing benefits as well as products!
@@Doctorly I'll definitely watch that video!
Can y’all talk about pillowcases? Do the different grades of Mulberry silk really make a difference? Are there any studies showing the efficacy of silk pillowcases for anti-aging? Are they generally worth the hype? 💁🏽♀️
And if they help protect hair from frizz/breakage.
@@allisonhendrix6008 I can say a definite yes for satin helping my hair. I don’t use silk bc it’s expensive but i’d assume it’s the same idea. There’s a lot less friction so less frizz, less breakage and less tangles. Definitely recommend.
Silk is AWESOME. I spent a little money on many cases so I can sleep on a clean side every night which of course helps too. But my hair AND acne prone sensitive skin has been much happier. I put on a heavy moisturizer at night and it doesn't soak up the moisture like cotton does.
I have used both silk and satin and I can hands down say satin has worked amazing for me. It has helped my hair and my skin so much. Also my face doesn’t feel sweaty or hot at night. Silk didn’t do much for me which is weird I paid $90 for nothing. Also satin is so much easier to wash and take care of.
till this moment, it's considered rude for Cera Ve if they did not reach out to you for sponsorship... 😂
I think dr shah has already been reached
Haha yes - was a huge supporter of cerave on my other platforms for a long time and they finally took notice and reached out 😂
@@Doctorly great for you! 😁 I have watched you in the cerave ig. 😁Regards from Chile!!
I like how the video is segmented and laid out clearly.
You two are so great 😁 Anyone willing to go on CZcams and tell people they should shave with the grain deserves 🙌🏻👏🏻 I’m 💯 sure 0 of my clients have followed that suggestion despite receiving adequate education surrounding the topic!
Damn I commented a shaving vid would be appreciated and bam here we go
Same!
Same! Pretty cool
I love your videos! Could you talk about lifestyle choices for good skincare sometime? It may seem basic and simple, but hearing about good nutrition, "face yoga", hydration, makeup product choices, routines, etc. from experts would really help!
Been shaving for years and never considered half of this. Super helpful!
Thank you guys so much for making this clear and concise content! It's great for answering my questions that I would normally have to go to a derm to ask.
Could you guys make a video regarding fading body scars as well as body skincare? Thanks so much
Thank you, guys! My ingrown hairs on my legs sometimes just drive me nuts; they are sooo painful! I'll start using your advice straight away and hope it will help me! Can you please make a video on how to treat melasma? I feel like you are among the youtubers that can be really trusted and who give advice based on solid research, and not just personal opinions.
Could you do a video about hyperpigmentation and scarring? I think it would be very useful information! Thank you :)
I really enjoy learning from your videos! I have always struggled with my skin, and now I am very committed to my skin care. Could you please make a video about acne scars, both old and new, the Dos and the Don’ts? 🙏
I needed this information and it popped up for me! as I’ve been getting lots of irritation from shaving. Thank you for this! Will try some of these products
I actually searched "doctorly shaving". Very glad that something came up!
I have used conditioner as a shaving cream for years. I always use a very simple gentle conditioner with limited ingredients. I recommended it to a friend last year and he swears by it as well. Glad to hear a dermatologist talk about this! Thank you both for sharing your knowledge.
Justin, what's the conditioner? Might hop on the bus
"Conditioner"? What kind? For hair, like for scalp hair? You not said what part/or parts you are shaving, but maybe the use of a shaving soap and a brush will help (typical for wet-shaving of the face).
This is the first time I have heard anyone say they use their conditioner! I’ve been doing this for ages and get such odd looks from friends when it’s discussed. Thank you!
Can't wait to try out the routine! I have soooo many skin issues and shaving is one of them!
Awesome tips! I always wondered the proper way for dermaplaning at home!
Could you do a video on that please? :)
You should do a video on layering (unless you have already) and ALSO I'd love to see your thoughts on hair removal products and laser hair removal!
Thank you very much Doctors! I just subscribed yesterday 😊 Loving the content so much- sharing with my 23yr old son👌
I didnt think much of this video but I clicked on it because I love your guys vibes and I actually learned a lot ! lol thank you two so much for sharing this info! :)
I'm here just to see them. 💖 It's just a bonus seeing Dr. Maxfield shaving and smouldering at the camera. 😅😊
The latter is my truth!!! 😜😍❤❤
P.s his jawline 🤗😎🌻💚
Simp
He’s so gorgeous
That Aveeno shave gel is good used it for years on body shaving , I was hoping you guys also discussed shaving with electric razors
Such an informative video. I stay struggling with shaving. Needed this 👍🏼 🤗 you guys are awesome 👏🏼
ahhhh... you have too much wisdom I need to put it all in. It's a lot for one day but I was a super achiever over your videos today.
I love you guys! Yall teach simply but with excellence and yall are hilarious. Always making me laugh. Thanks much!!
Hey docs. I just used the Gillette shaver you recommended and it was the bomb. I normally use the Bevel straight edge razor (which has helped tremendously) but the Gillette shaver felt more agile and smooth. I also got the acne cleanser you mentioned and I like it, too. I don’t have an acne issue, but I like the way it made my face feel. Thank you!
Great video! I wish you commented about using shaving brush and hard fat-based soaps. My shaving experience greatly improved after using a double edge razor, shaving brush, and fat based hand-poured soap.
Hey docs! Loving these videos! Could you please do a video on hair care for dandruff, premature greying and excessive hair fall? What products/fads you recommend or don't?
Thanks!
Ty ty ty, I'm a lady who sadly inherited the "Essau Gene" and as a result, I have to shave my face regularly...but have a huge problem with ingrown hairs. Sadly, no one ever teaches the proper way to shave. Though I remember watching my Da shave when I was little & he actually did most of the steps you guys talked about. I honestly needed to see this video cuz I've always hated shaving my face & neck, but now I think I won't hate shaving any more!
I’m a Hispanic lady and my legs are completely covered in thick black hair. Anytime I shave I get red, burning, and lots of ingrown hairs. I even try to wear cloths to prevent shaving because it hurts so much. I’m going to try some of these tips and hopefully this will help because I’ve given up for about 3 years now.
It may be a good investment to stop shaving, save your money and try laser hair removal. Its not cheap but if you save up you may find it to be worth the price? Something to look into and think about.
Stop shaving, there is nothing wrong with having hair and as the other commenter said, if its something you really are ashamed of then endure and save that money not for lasers but electrolysis! I personally stopped shaving for those reasons, ingowns scars damaged skin bumpsy skin redness itchiness.
Shaving is over rated.
Have you ever heard of Philips one blade?
Yeah I’m gonna say try the Phillips one blade. It’s an electric shaver but dang it if that thing don’t work amazing. Another great one I’ve found is the Braun series 3 foil shaver.
As far as wet shaving for my baby skin on my face I’ve found actually the hydro5 sense from shick works awesome.
Now for not the face….Gillette Mach 3 hasn’t given irritation.
Trust me yeah I’m a guy but I literally have baby skin. I’ve tried so many products and gimmicks for sensitive skin. Best I’ve found is Gillette planet kind cream, or Aveeno gel.
Best razor for my face shick hydro 5
Best razor for body, Gillette skin guard or shick extreme 3
Best shaver for arms or legs has been a combo of the Phillips one blade and follow with the Braun series 3
The Cerave renewing SA wash (Smoothing SA Wash here in Ireland) is absolutely amazing at preventing ingrown hairs!
For those of you with sensitive skin and want to save money on shaving. I highly recommend investing into a good DE safety razor. It can be daunting at first, but with a little bit of practice and figuring out what product works will make it all worth it. Blades are extremely cheap, especially compared to disposable, multi-blade razors. Some things you should look for are close-combed, mild ones. For instance, I’d recommend the King C Gillette DE safety razor or the Merkur 34C.
Getting obsessed with you two! Such great and informative content. I know you mentioned about this retinoids sandwich with moisturizer and I know you don’t recommend using toner lol. What are the correct steps to incorporate retinoids to my skin care routine when I use toner, serum, face oil and moisturizer?
Also, do all the techniques you talked about shaving apply to using an electronic shavers for facial hair?
The conditioner worked so well!! I have struggled with razor bumps and have tried so many shaving creams and nothing has worked thank you 🙏
Have you tried double edge razor or any razor equipped with just a single edge?
I get so so much painful irritation every time. This was very helpful! Thank you!
Two of my favorite doctors!!!!
I am with Dr Shah, been shaving my legs for 42 years and nothing works better than hair conditioner for shaving.
Thanks for that 🙃
Hey doctors your videos are very informative.. Can you please do a video on milia?
@doctorly Could you do a post on body acne? I really appreciate your professional background! Thanks for sharing your knowledge :)
Really enjoy your videos they help out so much thank you
used to have massive irritation issues with razor burn, razor bumps and ingrown hairs. I switched to an old fashioned single blade safety razor and started dry brushing and I don't have any of those problems anymore.
Safety razors have a very small blade spacining meaning there is a small gap. It enable a very close shave with little to no skin abrasion.
Many people have found basically what you have. Yes, try double edged safety razors!
@@10floz30minutes that's what I was trying to describe.
I found using a safety razor with titanium coated razors helped get rid of any skin irritation. I buy razors from feather they're really cheap and extremely sharp. Never cut my face with them when it's in my safety razor handle, but have learned to he very careful handling them when replacing it. I've cut my fingers just grabbing them. Used it to shave some body parts before and it works but you have to be careful not to cut the skin sometimes since it's always easy angels like your face is.
A quick one...I love you guys so much..thanks for all these free infos
"soothing" "sensitive skin" puts in fragrance
cry. i'm allergic to like everything.
i use conditioner lol. glad you mentioned that you do too.
Make a video on Hair care (hair falls, hairloss )or scalp Care(itchy scalp) please
Can you please do a video on cuticle care or on getting rid of flaky cuticles
I binged watched too many of you guys videos 😂🤣 definitely fun n informative! Thanks 🙏🏽 ❤️
Hi Doctorly team, appreciate your public awareness efforts. Have greatly enjoyed your contents. Wanted to request a video on growing beard, and effectiveness of beard oils and balms.. cheers.
That guy shaving his face erratically looked like he was attempting to clean windows 😅😅
I see him like 15 times at day in my fyp and just know I find out he has a CZcams channel?????
Hi Dr. Maxfield and Dr. Shah; just came across your channel and currently binge watching your videos lol. I was wondering if for the next video if you could both talk about medical grade skincare brands/regimen vs. drugstore skincare brands/regimen and what you two recommend! Appreciate it and have a great day!
You guys are awesome thanks for the educational videos!!
Love your videos! It would be nice to see more cruelty free brands and environment friendly products 👌
Can you guys please make a video about scars, scar revision, mole scars pleaseee 🙊
Wow, coincidentally, you mentioned every product that I use! I start with a BHA/AHA cream cleanser for pre-shave (it's one from Neutrogena that I like), then lather up with a layer of the Vanicream Shave Cream, followed by a layer of the Aveeno Shave Cream (this gives me the best protection). I shave with the Schick Hydro disposable double-blade razor for sensitive skin. (I have to admit that I do I second pass against the grain). I then cleanse with Vanicream cleanser and follow with my active ingredients and a layer of Vanicream moisturizing cream. I do this routine every two-three nights, and wake up with baby-soft skin!
I use my hair conditioner as well. Inexpensive and effective. Thank you for your channel. LOVE you guys ❣️
Can you please make a video like this on depilators/waxing?
Well thank ya docs!! Do you think you could do a video on those of who have to shower multiple times say like athletes who train multiple times a day or like when we’re in surgeries and have to shower afterward? I’m pretty sure I’m following the whole moisturize after the shower and don’t really get irritation but it seems to be a topic that my fellow hospital coworkers have/ athletic club teams have
After very careful product selection for my shaving, I discovered that my skin easily withstands everything I trhow at it, so I pick my products based on shaving performance and the fragrance I like the most.
Please do a video on which order to layer serums & for which products a damp face is a better canvas. I think many of us are interested in products from The Ordinary and Inkey List. With so many different products in those and other skincare lines, I feel like I cannot squeeze every serum into an AM & a PM routine and would also like to know which products would have some benefit even if not used daily. So, if you do a layering video, please include how to rotate products whether every other day, 2-3X week and which serums to use together on alternating days.
Can you make a video on light therapy?
One can only dream of a man who looks at you the same way dr maxfield looks at dr shah lol. Very informative vid!
What?
Thanks for all your helpful tips
Thanks for the video guys! I wanted to share my aftershave tip, which is give an ice cube massage around my neck and chin. I tried too much with aftershave balms and stuff and I found out that an ice cube works really good to me.
Okay, but...can we talk about the look on Dr. Shah's face in the thumbnail?😂
lmao I was about to comment the same thing!
? i'm confused
Can you speak about when it’s best for someone to see an aesthetician vs dermatologist? Both offer similar skincare advice on social media, so what warrants a trip to the doc’s office for someone with milder skin conditions? Thanks!! :))
My mom is a dermatologist and I think a good general rule to go by is more cosmetic type stuff go to an aesthetician. Rashes, skin care, irritation, skin exams... go to a derm. Dermatologist obviously do cosmetic stuff as well but it’s usually more of the big guns like laser, Botox, high grade face peels... things like that.
Esthetician’s can not diagnose things as much as dermatologist!
Love your videos, can you please do a video on chest /back / body acne how to treat/treatment options.
Can you guys do a video about facial oils? Benefits? Disadvantages? When to apply in skin care routine?
What's the rationale for 'short and quick' movements...that seems like it would increase the risk of over shaving...
can you guys do a video on how and when to use bha exfoliators in the week when also using retinol on other days?
Thank you. There are very few videos from dermatologists talking about shaving routines. Straight razors and DE safety razors work best for me. Cheers.
Don’t forget to rinse razor often while shaving face. It really helps to get a better shave. And another option for shaving cream is Paula’s Choice. It’s perfect.
Enjoy your informative videos. Thanks
I’d love to hear your advice on sos and don’ts when shaving your tenders (male and female please) ;)
Question.... I’ve heard a few dermatologists on CZcams say not to wear vitamin c with L- ascorbic acid during day, especially if your a person of skin of color? They suggest to wear only at night. Can you clarify this and can you talk about the different types of vitamin c best for skin of color? Thank you
Great video! Could you please make one on other types of hair removal- epilation, waxing, IPL etc and effects on the skin? Thank you
I absolutely LOVE your videos
Would love to see a video of their favorite cruelty free vegan products
conditioners are perfect for this job!!!!!!!!!! i recommend it, give it a try
I used conditioner for a long time, the only reason I stopped was because I wanted to try new things. Conditioner is always there if I need it though.
Hey guys I'm a huge fan of your channel, love all the content that u guys post. Could u guys make a minoxidil video because I tried to research about it but couldn't find any information about routine skincare and possible interactions with minoxidil (because I use it for beard and eyebrow growth). Also, I'm graduating from medical school this year and watching your videos makes me want to be a dermatologist too. Keep up the videos, u guys are awesome 👏
Can you do a video about haircare and styling? There's a huge homebrew styling scene but I've always been curious about effects of things like clays, waxes, and oils on hair/scalp
So.. I can't recommend Dollar Shave Club's Executive razor enough (or w/e the 5 blade boy is named). I am a cis woman that grows the same density and thickness of facial hair as a man. Well, it WAS that bad, but I'm getting laser hair removal currently (which I 100% recommend to anyone struggling with unwanted hair). Anyway, I have been shaving my face, neck and stache area for years. That is the only razor that provides me with THE closest shave (undetectable hair). Gillette is good too, but it's more expensive. I'm also happy to learn that I taught myself the best recommended routine for shaving apparently based on what you guys said. I kind of had to though.. I get major, major, MAJORLY bad ingrown hairs on my neck and chin. So I gentle cleanse, massage my sensitive skin shaving cream or gel into my face, let it sit a little, shave with and against the grain for maximum closeness, exfoliate with a gentle chemical exfoliator and follow up after shower with niacinamide + my other skincare stuff. Been going well since I started following that routine. I also change my razor every few weeks considering how many areas I shave. If you want to leave the blade in the shower, at LEAST pat it on your towel gently and hang it on something. Never let it sit on the side of your tub or whatever. For any other women growing facial hair, I hope this helps you. I took me a long time to figure out what worked best for me, but we're finally there!
Thank you so much for sharing this! I’m exactly the same, and still looking for a good razor so will check out dollar shave club🙌🏻
Can you please do a video on epilating?
I LOVE SEEN!! As a woman, I also use the conditioner to shave my legs!!
Dear Doctors, thank you for this video. I wish you’d make a video for threading and hair removal .. face particularly. Will you please guide on post threading care usage of acids/actives.
