  • In this video, I'll show you how to remove the factory steering wheel and replace it with an aftermarket MOMO Tuner steering wheel with NRG Quick Release on a MK4 Volkswagen New Beetle. This should also work. on the MK4 Golf and Jetta.
    I love Momo Steering Wheels. It's amazing how something so simple can make such a big difference in the feel and driving experience of any vehicle. I have this wheel in FOUR of my cars!

      Awesome! Glad you found it helpful! I have one of those wheels too in suede. I didn't like how the dye on the suede rubbed off on my hands on long drives. I like the bigger wheel. But it the 280 is pretty. haha.

      @@rayregnogarage i've had a suede wheel before, it started off nice then it got pretty yuck (it was on a daily driver, and i didn't use gloves)
      i'm a pretty small guy and had a miata/mx5 and loved the go cart sized wheel, each to their own :)
      i read a couple more of the comments on this vid about the resistor, do you mind sharing what load/size/rating it is?

    • @rayregnogarage
      @rayregnogarage  Před 3 lety +1

      I just used the resistor supplied by NRG. I’ve used more compact resistors in my other cars because they take up less space in the hub adaptor...but they’ve failed on both my Xterra and Ranger. Integra is still going okay but I don’t drive it much. These are the resistors: 2 OHM Resistors

    • @rayregnogarage
      @rayregnogarage  Před 2 lety +1

      Ya, I can’t say with absolute certainty, because I’ve never worked on a Passat, but I’d say if it’s not the same it would be super similar. When I’m working on the car, I often find passat videos that aren’t exactly the same but are really helpful. The Germans are about efficiency and it’s not efficient to have a bunch of variance in parts and process, so I’m pretty confident it would be the same if
      not very close.

    I have an 01 Gti with the cruise control on the wheel. Trying to figure out a wiring diagram on how to convert the cruise to the left stalk style. You can buy the Oem stalk for $40. Any one out there that can give me some pointers?

      The resistor comes in the NRG kit. my light is still on. Every car has a different process to reset it and I haven’t gotten to it on this car yet. I’m guessing I’ll need to clear it using VCDS.
