Odysseus: Why does everything in the sea wants to kill me OR fuck me?
You fucked with the god of the sea. He's simply returning the favor.
When your life says fuck you in both meanings of the word
@@infernox4664 honestly. I hate it when the greek gods do that🙄
@@Cbell14- me to
Mm... sure. Let's say "or".
The balls to call a man your love directly after he says he has a wife
To be fair she’s a Goddess.
@@thesausageman5388 true but still
@@idontknowwhatimdoing3685 well she could force him with her powers
Calypso after hearing Odysseus has a wife: Oh no, anyway…
She didn’t give a damn 😭 cause honestly what’s a mortal woman to a goddess, she doesn’t even see any other woman as a threat
Mans just wants to see his wife and kid
that’s the odyssey in a nutshell 💀

Oh this is gorgeous!
Calypso’s face at “she’s my wife” is terrifying, actually.
And the art of her doing magic is so impressive!
LET HIM GO CALYPSO!!
This the mandatory reminder for the people here that Calypso is not cute. She kept Odysseus on her island for seven years against his will and had sex with him MULTIPLE times, again, against his will.
Fr ☠️☠️
Not in epic though. In epic she made advances but she didn’t force anything because in god games Athena specifies to Hera that “never once has he cheated on in his wife.”
but it could have happened, bc does it count as cheating if he had no say in the matter? @@summersunsets9556
@@summersunsets9556 You could argue that it isn’t cheating if it’s non consensual
@@IRllyLikeDeathSitter well hera doesn't care does she you know she hates all of zeus' bastards (i call them bastards not in a disrespectful term i myself am a bastard but because i dont know how to otherwise describe it)

Calypso: it's free real estate!
"Your adorable, bow down now to the immortal cylpso, here to entertain but fear not I bring no pain",THE POWER IN THAT SENTENCE
Edit 1:OMG DAD I AM FAMOUS THANK YOU FOR SO MENY LIKES 👍🏻 👌🏼 💖
And the animatics!
@@AuDHD_Teen THERE AMAZING!!
Real
I love her face at 1:08, "But fear not, I'll bring no pain"
@@user-dd1bn2cu6k Omgggg
I love the desperation of him running to the sea
He is like: Poseidon take me
You know it’s bad when he’s considering throwing himself upon POSEIDON’S mercy
In the pause after “She’s my wife!” Calypso should blink a couple of times as if to say “eh! That doesn’t matter.”
This is precisely how I see it play out in my head! I read the Odyssey, and at least by my interpretation, there was nothing consensual about the situation he had going on with Calypso and Circe. With Calypso, every god he has encountered so far has tried to kill him. In his mind, he thinks she'll kill him if he doesn't do what she wants. The only thing he can still refuse is marrying Calypso. With Circe, Hermes only gave him enough moly to prevent him from turning into a pig, but it wouldn't be enough to stop more than just that spell.
TL;DR: He got date r***ed by Circe and manipulated by Calypso.
Yeah, in the odyssey he pretty much is being SA’ed by calypso for 7 straight years. Like, he’s spending his days sobbing by the ocean and his nights in her bed where he does NOT want to be. She’s a goddess, she’s powerful, and she’s not letting him leave. I feel like it’s an aspect of his story that too often goes unremarked upon, or made light of. This song comes off as appropriately creepy, the animatic does a good job of showing that
LITERALLY
HE NEVER WILLINGLY CHEATED ON PENELOPE
@@geneticdriftwood Yeah, she fully just kissed him without consent at the end there
@@fictional-girl_05 i mean depends on the definition of cheating, Odysseus did take Trojan women as sx sIaves after the war and he already had many such sIaves in Ithaca. But the Circe thing was definitely consensual, its never told to us in the text that it wasnt, thats just people reading what they want into it. His experience with Circe was meant to be a warning to readers about the dangers of comfort and gluttony, now that lesson wouldnt make sense if he had no choice right? Besides, Circe lets him go when he says he wants to go. He most probably consented to everything with Circe in the original story
@@fictional-girl_05thats just not true though. He had sx sIaves and he took even more from troy, and nothing in the actual odessey indicates he didnt consent to Circe. When he told circe he wanted to leave she let him. The whole point of the circe incident in the og myth was to teach the reader and odysseus a lesson about the dangers of over indulgence. Odysseus fully consented to staying with circe and enjoying her bed, and this was a choice that cost him a full year away from his home.
The faces at 'she's my wife' 🤣
Lord only knows what was going through her head there😭
OMG I LOVE EPIC I CANT WAIT FOR IT TO BE A REAL MUSICAL
soon, soon
AWESOME NEWS the first part of the musical is being released on Christmas day
@@Dra0125 WOW
:D !!
Oh gosh, I would give anything for all of the following: a stage play adaptation and a movie, be it live action or animated.
Though all these beautiful animatics out rn really hit that nail on the head. I ABSOLUTELY, love this one.
I apologize for the person I will become when the musical comes out.
Same
I apologize for the person I became the second I heard it was a thing
Bro had to get his "I'm just a man" to change to "I'm *not* your man"

hmmm
Odysseus: She’s my wife…
Calypso: :) Wrong :) Answer :) :) :)
@@tumblingartist literally she's like "wrong mf answer, bozo"
We don't talk about Calypso no no no we don't talk about Calypso
CALYPSO]
Morning sleepyhead
You've been resting for a while
I swore that you were dead
When you washed up on my isle
Did you know you talk in your sleep?
Tell me, though, who's Penelope?
[ODYSSEUS]
She's my wife
[CALYPSO]
Anyways, I've got all you could want here
All you could need here
Just you and me, my dear my love for life
Soon into bed we'll climb and spend our time
[ODYSSEUS]
I'm not your man
[CALYPSO]
I'm what you want here
I'm what you need here
Just you and me, my love in paradise
Now til the end of time
From here on out, you're mine, all mine
[ODYSSEUS]
Hell no, I could kill you where you stand
I'm no pet, I'm a married man
[CALYPSO]
Oh handsome, you may try
But last I checked, goddesses can't die
[ODYSSEUS]
Goddess?
[CALYPSO]
You're adorable
Bow down now to the immoral Calypso, here to entertain
But fear not, I bring no pain
Cause we've got
All we could want here
All we could need here
Under my spell, we're stuck in paradise
No one can come nor go, my island stays unknown
[ODYSSEUS]
No, no
I don't belong here
There's something wrong here
I won't be drawn to love in paradise
Not till the end of time, there is no way
[CALYPSO]
You're mine, all mine
YESS
Actually is Immortal Calypso, not Immoral, but she is Immoral so kind fits
HER FACE AT THE BEGINNING BE LIKE :
“ Hey Gm, You’ve Been Asleep For Like, 4 Hours! 😊 “
OMG HOW DID I JUST FIND THIS LOVE THEIR FACIAL EXPRESSIONS
You know, I would say that she is coming on too strong....
but then again, she isn't zeus turning into golden rain or a goose. So by god standards, this is down right tame.
*ancient greek standards. One of Achilles and Patroclus's bonding moments involved them banging a bunch of slaves
I'm a Percy Jackson fan and I'm trying to imagine Calypso from there sing THIS. I-I can't.
Btw, Odysseus looks like Percy...
But both animatic and song are great!
Same
yeah same lol
the characters here look exactly like the singers
same
wooo Percy Jackson W
0:46 to 1:07 is just epic love it
After months this is still my favorite LIP animatic. I always come back here to rewatch this and the ending still gives me chills.
Her voice is so hypnotic
"Last time I checked goddesses can't die"
Did she try to kill herself or am i looking too deep?
YES. There’s no need to check, the gods of Greek mythology are 100% immortal
The way that you flawlessly captured Calypsos character is so BEAUTIFUL!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS AAAAH!!
Please I'm sobbing I need this musical to come out now so I can buy $500 tickets
I feel like you need to do the Egyptian hand movement side when she says "the immortal calypso "😅
Thank you THANKS YOU for truly expressing how genuinely creepy this song is from odysseus' point of view, the unwanted advances (both verbal and physical) as she forces him to stay wherether he wants to or not. I also love how much they look like their singers! Always a nice touch
The fact that I only found out about this AMAZING animatic a year after it's release is so sad...
Odysseus looking like a 20yo in all these animatics feels off since he's an old man in the story. Though it really doesn't matter. The music and animation is amazing
Well I wouldn't say an old man lol-
I feel like he'd be maybe in his 40s by this point... though that's pretty old for ancient times, plus 10 years of war and 10 more years of being lost at sea probably weighed on him a lot, making him look a lot older than he actually was
I know this is Odysseus but he looks and awful lot like Percy Jackson
I love this animatic, especially how you draw Calypso
Odysseus might have dodged a bullet based on what happened later between Calypso and Davy Jones
LMFAO! Facts
I am a big Percy Jackson so when I first heard this if the battle of the labyrinth were a musical I can totally see them using this song
Fits like a glove
He sorta looks like Percy Jackson in a good way!
IM IN LOVE WITH THIS OMG!!
SCHJSDFASJ TYSM
Why am I thinking of a fairy princess and a vampire king when I listen to this
THIS IS AMAZING!!! ❤️❤️
THANK YOU SO MUCH AAAHHHHHHHHHHHH
That’s the spirit, Odysseus! Zero days without cheating on your wife! What a good man!
Don’t you agree Circe?
Doesn't he sleep with her every other night after he washes up on her island?
Both of them are deities! Both descended from Titans and HUGELY magically powerful and he’s a mortal man, basically he got dated ***** TWICE! Once for 1 year and the second time of 7! Think of the context, his whole reason to keep going and surviving was his wife and son, he didn’t want to do it! Coercion, plain and simple
@@fanofallthings7099 there's another one he had a kid with and this was cursed by Aphrodite to smell bad so I don't think this one can be counted, he just cheated
He was mind controlled and forced to sleep with both of them. Did you even listen to the goddamn song? Calypso was forcing him to be with her.
@@CherriesAreGreatILoveThem In the musical, (and myth?) he doesn't really sleep with calipso, that I remember, she tries to seduce him to stay and be her husband but he is like no I just wanna go home. Check clalipso second song
Thanks! Tthe part where Calypso says her name is beautiful and now I love her even more (as if her songs weren't enough on my heart)!
I THOUGHT THAT WAS PERCY JACKSON UNTIL I REMEMBERED ODYSSEUS OMG
I volunteer to replace Odysseus, in tribute, to the cute and adorable Calypso.
She *raped* him.
i love them, poor traumatised babies
she makes me think of an evil ariel
I LOVE THIS ARTSTYLE BDJSHSJHD
Gosh i cant wait for this part of EPIC

Calypso is such a great goddess but I like Selene better
Btw he'll be trapped there for like 7 years
Good video.
Why does he look like Percy Jackson lol
Is that talking in your sleep bit from th OG myth or did they steal that from Percy jackson?
I think it's just something that gets used a lot because it's a convenient exposition device.
stand on business or 0:46
Why does calypso look like my classmate?
The design is based off of the actress for her
This is proof that God has left us.
Huh?
How
No
😂😂😂
Why? Because He got replaced by a bunch of other gods now, apparently? /j
this ate and i love the music in the musical but i fr hate the way it paints him like hes more innocent like girl no u cheated on penelope with circe and calypso and stayed on calypsos island for a whole 7 years what
He was stuck their and Hermes convinced calypso to let go of oddsseyes
Calypso forced him to be there, I think.
About Circe, maybe that was more of a deliberate choice to engage in such a relationship so that is a no no. But I think he was also pushed to please her based on the power she held over them and the fact she had turned his buds into pigs? I’m not sure about that whole thing.
But yeah! Dude wasn’t as faithful as he should have been, meanwhile his wife was doing her best to push away all those suitors who could have not so hardly crossed the final line at any moment and assaulted her. Poor Penelope.
@@matilde_5 fr but imo bro did not even try to fight circe so like?? L
penelope is a queen stan penelope thes literally the best strongest amazing terrific iconic legend
You and others really need to yeet the 2023 glasses when it comes to these stories. The Iliad, The Odyssey, and any Regency/Victorian Era story. Their definition of cheating was FAR different than our definition. Men could have as many lovers as they wanted, as long as they returned to their wives at the end of the day. Yes, now even just unintentional flirting could be considered "cheating," but back then? Nah fam.
He literally had no choice.
Odysseus looks like Percy Jackson
"Tell me though, who's Annabeth?"
