Man oh man, when I was kid I never missed this. My Dad, God rest his soul, took me for my birthday to see Rich Little in a small club in St. Louis, The Cheshire Inn, we were so close to the stage you could reach out and touch the man. I was knocked out.
One of my greatest memories with my Dad.

I had the pleasure of meeting Frank Gorshin at the San Diego Comic-Con many years ago, and talked with him about the KopyKats. He always regretted that the old episodes never made it to video, since he considered them some of his best work. Frank would be so happy that people are enjoying these episodes again on CZcams.

What a great show. I don't ever remember seeing this when I was a kid but man does it take me back to my childhood. This is the way TV was when I was a kid. It had a certain feel to it. It's like watching the Dean Martin celebrity roasts. I identified with the humor and the jokes but my kids just didn't enjoy it or even get it . I guess the days of variety shows and specials like KopyKats or Dean Martin hour or Texaco's Bob Hope show or Jack Benny shows are just another page in the history books. How I miss that part of my life.

I remember watching this show every week during the summer back in the early 70s when it was used to sub for a regularly scheduled show. It was one of the funniest shows ever to appear on TV . They were all classic actors who didn't have to rely on foul mouthed jokes or off-color banter. I am very thankful that I grew up from the 50s to the 70s during television's golden era. Oh, how I long for those days........

Burr didn't do a lot of comedy, but he wasn't bad. One time, he played Perry Mason on the Jack Benny Program, defending Jack from something or other - I forget. At one point, Perry seems utterly flummoxed by the prosecutor's tactics, and Jack screams at him! "Perry! You were the greatest! You won every case!! What happened here?"
Perry snaps back, "Maybe my writers are better than yours!"
