This was my absolute favourite show growing up. I'm surprised at how much still sticks in the back of my mind - anytime someone mentions cataracts I act surprised, and every time I see a close up on actors' faces I watch their eyes for the tiny game of tennis.
I remember thinking at the time, when I watched this live on a Saturday night, that this is the apex of traditional television entertainment. I was not wrong.

In the wrong mood it would be 'meh' but in the right move it could provide a lifelong memory. I thank you for that Harry and I would love to see TV Burp coming back on TV in place of pretty much any show on early Saturday night TV. Before Ant and Dec of course cos they've been winning awards since 1965 🤩 (RIP Iain Davies) gone but not forgotten.... Absolute Legend

A genuinely great comedian who never relied on smut, Harry is such a legend. his stand-up routines were intricate and often quite clever, I don't think i ever heard the man swear. Seems he was able to combine carry-on style slapstick and more surreal, modern type of delivery, good wholesome stuff. Another one who was great at this was Ross Noble, that guy's is insanely funny.
I seen him in Glasgow and he told 100% new jokes I'd never heard before or seen since. It's like a surreal Tarantino film the way he ties random insanity into one cohesive unit all in the last 10mins. Genius with outstanding memory
Writing for this show must be one of the most enviable jobs ever. OK watch TV and just record anything that made you laugh. With British soaps they make it so easy for you
I think the TV landscape has definitely changed in the last 20 years, this was peak "let's put idiots on TV and laugh at them" programming from the mid 2000s.
I didn’t appreciate this enough when it was on. I used to watch different shows and try and guess which parts they’d use each week, you could always tell when they were trying to get featured 🤣
I went to see a live taping of this. It was pretty good - they give you beers beforehand they have a warm up comedian and then in came harry. It was a good set up!!

Saw this being filmed at Teddington Studios back in the day. It was a day when TV had stuff on that you actually wanted to watch and which included stuff that was funny. A time long since gone.
I know it did have a pretty long run (2001-2012) but I’m surprised TV Burp isn’t on anymore, still really funny today even though what Harry’s talking about is pretty outdated. Plus the writers have even more crap to choose from now than they did then when it comes to making jokes about current shows
A lot of CZcamsrs started roasting TV shows and because they didn't need to abide by watershed rules they became more popular. If you want a CZcamsr who does a fantastic of roasting TV while being funny, i recommend the channel Disparu.
Whats speacial with TV Burp Gold is his connections with the British media so he has access to the cast and locations which make the jokes 10x funnier. Such a rare show
