Cara, eu sou fã demais de Dave Matthews e essa é uma de minhas músicas favoritas de todos os tempos.

Hey so my interpretation is that though we have this satellite always watching, theres the part "rest high above the clouds no restrictions, television we bounce round" but while we isolate ourselves "5 senses reeling" in euphoria we can laugh about this weathermans satellite eyes. Great vid! Last stop recommendation above was on point ☝🏼

This band is so soothing and brings me back to my youth in the mid to late 90s. Im a metalhead but this is my childhood

Anything by them is good. The whole "Under the Table and Dreaming" album is so great. After that, many hits.

This is a great song! Acoustic intro is fabulous. Dave's voice is so amazing, the range.

Brandon - I really enjoyed your excellent submission choice. I haven't heard this Dave Matthews Band song in way too long. Very well done, Brandon and Harri.

From their 1995 album, " Under The Table and Dreaming", it comes across as a simple tune about satellites but I think it's also pontificating a bit about how our lives are under constant watch by someone, somewhere.
What is amazing is how high Dave's voice used to go and tests the limits in this beautiful song. The violins are repetitive and constant, along with the drum combinations, the guitars and the wonderful chorus that is the best musically.
Great memory. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Brandon. 👏👏 Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦

It took me a few times to come to my interpretation that it's a guy who's life or it's a woman that he loves. Like one who is in the " friend zone" he can only orbit her world but never be close enough to her for intimacy.

listen as the beginning of a love story and how the relationship ebs and flows all while knowing each other immensely well .

I played the hell out of this CD when I bought it in college in ‘94-‘95. It was like nothing else out there at the time. Meaning of the song? Frankly, it never occurred to me to think too deeply about it. Sometimes Dave’s lyrics can be poetic, yet not entirely coherent. It sounds like a riff on satellite tv, weather satellite pictures, the moon, the stars, the sky, the clouds.

Should listen to this song but acoustic Dave and Tim

In my opinion, it's about the takeover of TV in our lives. Back when this song came out, satellite TV was on the rise and very competitive. "Who's the King of your satellite castle?" And basically people would spend hours in front of the TV watching, with 200+ channels, and it took over their life, much like now with CZcams and streaming, etc. People were, and are, missing out on life and actual living by being consumed by television, and now our phones. I view the song as the 90's version of "The Sound of Silence" by Simon and Garfunkel.

There are some bootlegs of a really early version of this song, with a different name, "After Her", and different lyrics. The bootleg I have is just Dave and his guitar. I downloaded it on Napster back in the day, under the title "Dave Matthews - Original Acoustic Demo"

Harri , the lyric is actually "keeping time for the mother station" no peeping Tom.

Their best song, imho. Rickie Lee Jones has a beautiful song and video well worth watching and hearing called "Satellite(s)". The video has her dancing around in the snow, not unlike the wondrous Ice Dance sequence, with Winona Ryder dancing to Danny Elfman's score, in "Edward Scissorhands".

@@AlltelJohnny12Agreed. I'm neutral with the album version. But like all of his songs I much prefer when he plays just with Tim Reynolds.
