  • Stephen's faith in the Justice Department was restored today when ten so-called Oath Keepers were charged with sedition for their participation in the Jan. 6th attack. In covid news, experts think Omicron has hit its peak in the United States, with case numbers on the East Coast already starting to fall. #Colbert #Comedy #Monologue

Every single person who incited the attack and/or breached the outer fence of the Capitol grounds that day is culpable for Seditious Conspiracy, Insurrection, and Felony Murder. I mean, yeah.
LegalEagle talked about how Trump's statements were just protected speech and, unfortunately, since he used the word "peaceful" he can't be seriously accused of inciting the mob with that speech alone.
It's one of the reasons why I think our entire legal justice system is severely flawed. We have video of him actively telling his supporters to go to capital hill and "fight like hell", but we can't call that a crime due to our constitution supposedly protecting our right to freedom of speech. In spite of the fact that it meets all the criteria for sedition (and treason). And the only reason why? Because we can't say for certain, in spite of the video, what he actually meant.

@@wizardtim8573 The Raffensperger threat tape can establish Trump's seditious intent, along with memos and testimony involving Trump staff. A Trump sedition case can weigh that against "peaceful" and "fight like hell" knowingly to a mob of angry, armed people ready to do a unconstitutional and illegal things.
Also, a lot of rioters in court have used the "Trump defense", saying they were motivated to commit their crimes through Trump's words.

      @@StriderBillman I understand.
But we straight up should be able to look once at his statements and determine that, yes, he directly incited the mob.
We shouldn't have to find proof elsewhere and try to link them together.
I find it incredibly hard to believe that that mob would've assaulted the capital had Trump's speech been more mature and less violent.
At the very least, Trump should be connected to the mob via conspiracy and charged with them even if he can't be shown to have any involvement with the plans.

    • @Rockboygg
      @Rockboygg Před 2 lety

@@StriderBillman in Law it goes like this. If I tell you to go rob a bank, amd you do it, you are the sole responsible person for commiting that crime.
In Law terms. No reasonable person will jave actually acted upon Trump saying to storm the capitol. The proof? The other 99.99% of the reasonable population that...did NOT stormed the capitol.
Its the Alex Jones defence. In that, if you believe Alex Jones bulllcrap and act upon it, you are at fault as no reasonable person will believe whatever Alex Jones says.
And the US law in general, is for people who willfully, willingly and maliciously did what no other reasonable person will do under any circumstance.
In conclusion, it will be VERY difficult to establish intent in ANY of Trumps speeches as he....well he gives Biden a run for its money in non sensical speeches.

Honestly, as a european watching this, the part when Marco Rubio was characterising liberals, by routines they do during their day, instead of their believes, values and their policy, was striking. Especially, because, judging by the reaction, that wasn't seen as out of place, the focus was only on the specific routines, which were presented as somehow significant, when hey're not. They are, politically, entirely irrelevant. Is politics in the USA really merely a game of superficial habits and life style choices? At least in the view of the US population at large? If so, then the country is politically dead.

Marco Rubio is pointing to the fact that the "elites" in this country (those that live if big cities and have a lot of money) are not affected by soaring inflation prices and don't seem to care as long as they can have their "caramel machiato" and their routine isn't affected.
Then, Steven Colbert and all the elite liberals make fun of Rubio, which, truly, is mocking and making fun of regular, American citizens who are trying to pay for food, gas, and energy to heat their homes. They are mocking hard- working Americans (half of the US) that are having a hard time paying their bills.
Truly, these elite's laughing and mocking of these citizens is quite sad and tone deaf.

You really think Marco Rubio doesn't drink coffee in the morning? Or that he has never been to a Starbucks? Or ate expensive fancy foods that are way overpriced? I would be astonished if he never ate a meal that has literal 24k gold flakes sprinkled on top, the rich and powerful are known to do that. All he did there was 100% virtue signaling to those that are already brainwashed. He does all the things he mocked liberals for. This gas lighting works as a double edged sword for are-tarded are-publicans like his audience. He ticks the check boxes for why his audience should hate the scapegoat while simultaneously persuading them to overlook his own issues that squarely make him as bad as said scapegoat. If you're accusing everyone else of stealing then it makes it a bit easier for you personally to get away with stealing. It's a very Machiavellian political strategy. This is the kind of thing you _know_ they are doing conscientiously, for the reasons I described. It's not an accident that Marco is being a hypocrite here, he's doing it because of the results it gets him. While most people will see him as the hypocritical ass he is, his audience will be blinded by these tactics, and that's all he cares about, future history books be damned.
