This is interesting cause I genuinely felt like this was the least scary insidious
Omg me too! I’m glad someone else said it 😂
Woke writing or was AI?
@@susanalidia1695neither, it just wasn't scary 😂
It was my first so good to know
@@youtubeweloveyou688 3 is my fav
Hello!! I played the MRI demon. So cool to see you and spookyastronauts reviewing a film I was a part of!! I’ve been watching your videos for years!! Thanks for watching and supporting. It was such a fun experience and everyone was lovely to work with!
omg are you for real? that was my favorite and scariest scene!!
@@PossessedbyHorror can’t tell if my last reply posted! But yes!! And thanks so much! I sent a few bts pics to your IG dm
That’s so cool
you and this movie sucked ngl
Ok u did a great job cause that scene made me scream. I knew it was coming but the timing was perfect.
I really hated how the majority of the movie was basically recapping the first 2 movies with Josh and Dalton getting their memories back. We as the audience already know all this and don't need that much of a trip down memory lane. There wasn't enough room for new stuff to happen. The beginning to early middle of the 2nd act shoud've seen this over with and then we move on to Lipstick Demon backstory, longer Lipstick possession fun, more Renai, Foster, and Kali screentime, and especially more time of Josh and Dalton rekindling their relationship since the ending rushed it.
I thought the movie was bad, and I’m a fan of the insidious movies. It felt like a cash grab imo. It seems that we always settle for less when it comes to horror.
Yeah ditto
i didn't enjoy it either i thought it was extremely monotonous
Exactly. It was such a disappointment.
*spoilers* I liked it but i felt a little disappointed as a big fan of the insidious universe. I just felt like they did not do more with the further. I would have liked to have seen josh's path to dolton in the further. I also would've liked to see more about the red demon's backstory or more scares including him? I just felt like it was underwhelming when he possessed dolton, like he should've at least killed some kids at the university 😅
Yeah absolutely agreed. It was kinda garbage, the gross-out factor came out of nowhere and the makeup for this movie was really bad!
I was hoping for at least some Specs and Tucker content, but even that was stripped down to a 3 second cameo. I’m kinda bummed!
A crossover of insidious and sinister would be so cool, I’d love that
Ikr?? I felt good when I found out I wasn't the only one thinking that. When I hear insidious I also hear sinister, I'm not sure why they fit so much together but they do!
Well that would be cool but insidious has a pg13 tone and sinister is a dark rated r movie
And the conjuring
Omg, that would be my dream come true, I used to be obsessed and traumatized by both franchises
Hell yeah
I also found it a little repetitive and tedious, but one thing they implemented that I wished they'd leaned into harder was the tormented painter. They could have done so much more with that and really woven it into the lore. Dalton could have been an unwilling conduit for the further (since due to amnesia he couldn't recall what it was and would keep tapping into those memories since they're a boon to his work) and slowly go mad as he bridges the further to the real world with every stroke of his brush. Maybe if they'd ditched the quirky college roommate they could have explored it further, but conversely I also feel like she kept the movie from being overly repetitive of the first two. All in all, I felt like the acting was solid and the plot was decent, but would have been much better if they'd expanded on the lore of the further instead of tying loose ends with a family drama that essentially repeated the first two movies.
Yeah, I also would’ve liked to see it explored further (get it?)
Thought it would have made for a better story if Dalton starts out getting flashes of inspiration and starts to paint the red door, but as time goes on the door in the painting slowly starts to open, then the big reveal at the end is that the demon escapes into the real world through the open door in the painting (imagine a demon arm just shooting up from the painting as it escapes the further into Dalton's dorm). Might contrast the 'good guys win' trope that they were going for, but the demon escaping into the real world would have had a lot more impact. Even exploring how the painting was connected to the further would have been a better story. What gets me is that they had the perfect setup for this, since Dalton doesn't remember the further or that he should want nothing to do with it, so it would have been interesting to see him feverishly embrace his fears, in his arrogance none the wiser to the fact that maybe he was afraid for a good reason.
A small concern I have is that they'll try to recycle this idea (cursed painting/painter), but they should come up with something else. The further (an unknown, mysterious universe) is the story they should be telling, not family or college drama or otherwise previously used idea. Like maybe even the demons could be lesser beings and there are older, more twisted beings within the further. That's the story I'd like to see.
I think if you have a difficult relationship with a parent (specifically your father) this movie hits on something. I liked it. I jumped, I cried, I laughed. I had fun.
really? U describing it like it was SS movie, I fall asleep during it, it was so predictable and finale was so dumb
@@sorosspy Being bored to sleep is no fun. Better luck next time.
@@sorosspy She's describing as if she genuinely enjoyed it. To each their own.
@@CarolineCP i think it's just language barrier, in my country we are not this overwowed about nothing so when people describe minor things with such a emotion it's kinda weird for me
@@sorosspy I think maybe you're taking things a little too seriously actually. I'm not saying this is the best film I've ever seen. I enjoyed it.
I really liked the movie, too! The MRI scene was just pure terror lol.
Just seeing that in the preview was enough for me to be like NOPE. I’ll wait to watch in the comfort of my own home.
This was probably the only scary scene and the better one, I just hate they totally had to go and show it in the trailer 😂
I agree, especially when before MRI they always tell you not to fall asleep. Wonder if that's why :D
When josh ran back to the car upset, I was genuinely fighting back tears. Such a small part of the film but so impactful. I really enjoyed this film. I'll be giving it a second watch when it comes up on Netflix
i cried !!
@@meganburgess7048 it was heartbreaking wasn't it. I was sat with 3 of my mates so I just choked down my tears lol
real, I was with my mum and was trying to act tough. I cried when he went for an mri because I thought there was actually something wrong 😭
I’m really confused by this video & the comments bc I don’t think I saw the same movie as everyone else 😭 this was not the scariest or best insidious movie by any means & im so confused what everyone saw in it 😭😭
Yeah ditto, even as someone into more obscure and cheesy flicks, this movie felt so cash-grabby! I can see what they were going for at certain points, but it overall felt like a really lazy attempt to finish part of the series.
I cannot get over how awful the makeup was either as a massive special effects fan, what was that!!! I love the Insidious franchise, but this just didn’t feel like a proper addition to it. Everything felt off
Gurl agreed! The reviewer is losing her mind along with her eyebrows. It was utter trash. People walked out of the theater. I loved the first 2... this was horrible.
@@lalareal180 I love this channel & although I don’t agree, bringing somebody’s eyebrows in for no reason is rude. I’m here for her horror content not beauty tips. I don’t see you with a CZcams channel with hundreds of thousands of subscribers 💀
I thought this movie was okay at best. I expected more from this movie tbh like more focus on the lipstick demon since the movies after the original would give some type of info of the demons/spirits even the title of the movie is called the red door was there any elaboration on it nope none at all. The jumpscares that were in the first half were pretty good and the 2nd half none of them got me. A really rushed asf finale didn’t do it for me. The friend was so weird from the way she talked to how back and forth she was with Dalton didn’t hate her didn’t love her. I wanted to see more of the og family. A 6th movie is currently planned where a family lost their child and use the further to save their kid but with that causes all the scary stuff to happen which is very interesting to me. A spin-off is also planned called Thread an insidious tale.
i respect your opinion so much and i love that you can back up your reasoning for your thoughts ! i'm just so sad I hated this movie and Chris was actually my favorite character 😭
I feel the exact same way, wanted to love it but super hated it- felt WAY too cheesy
Yes!!! It felt really lazy, even the special effects weren’t the best
The ending annoyed me so much, I’m like sooo he painted the evil away wtf? 😂
wait? i thought the movie was so terrible, i didn’t think people actually liked it? hmm i might give i’d a second chance
Im surprised by your review Ngl lmao I thought this movie was horrible
Can you back that up? Without spoilers?
i also thought it was ass
Suprise not everyone agrees with everyone else
@@DirektorVadim I appreciate that, will do. I guess I'm in denial because I loved the first Insidious so much
@@scottsspot Same, it was painful for me, kinda regret watching. Btw look for his video that says "stop making this trash"
I really didnt like this one. also feel like the mri scene would have hit different if it wasnt in the trailer (always them trailer spoilers) . I also feel that chris as a whole should have been removed , It wouldnt make sense to have specs and tucker in this but they were more enjoyabe even though cringy. the one jumpscare that caught me was with the class in the beggining totaly wasnt expecting it. to be honest the whole movie feels unnecessary maybe for a cash grab but it was good for a directorial debut. probably my least favourite in the whole series
I’m so nervous to see this movie 😅. That red demon dining room scene from the first movie scared the shit out of me as a child and I haven’t been able to watch that scene since lol
Dude me too!
I literally cried the first time I saw that. I was terrified.
Great review. I agree with lots of your points. One thing I noticed rewatching the trailer is that they clearly cut things in the last act, and that was my biggest issue. The stakes are higher than ever before, the tension has been amped up, and it's done in 2 minutes. Wish it ended on a more satisfying note. Hopefully they release an extended cut one day.
I liked it but had some writing issues, specifically how rushed the ending felt. Overall it was fun
Right I was like sooo he painted the demon away? Tf? 😂
@@BloodSweatandFears Magic paint
Overall IT SUCKED. There I fixed and righted your wrongs.
I was the total opposite. I guess I’m totally desensitized. I didn’t find the movie scary at all. The movie was ok. Too much time with the college stuff. Especially the frat house.
You arent this movie was utter shiite. A few people walked out. The actor who directed this didnt bring anything good to it.
@@lalareal180 I thought he added a cool story between him and the son. The college setting really screwed things up. Especially with the fraternity guys. Maybe they shoulda had the son coming home from college for a break and then all this happens.
For me, who've seen all the Insidious (and Sinister movies) ... I feel it's really overdone. It's the same tropes and the jump scares were very lackluster. Sorry Sarah, but it's a no from me.
i saw it in theatres with my friend and the MRI scene was so scary me and my friend were gripping onto each other for dear life LOL
Haven't seen the movie yet, but love the t-shirt, didn't expect to see spanish in your videos, funny since "escrita y dirigida" are the female adjectives (ending in -a), which makes it seem like Guillermo wrote and directed your life
Unfortunately I was bored to death, almost fell asleep. Was really schocked by the bad writing and acting.
Yeah ditto, the writing was seriously wack. Especially the art teacher’s scenes? What the hell was she doing? I’m just so confused
I think I’ve commented this before but where I’m from (AZ) we say brother and sister like that. I’d say “baby bro, you’re being a pain in the ass” and he’ll say “hey sis, you’re annoying” and we’ll just have normal convos where we say bro and sis or “best friend” depending on the person. Even in texts I’d say “hey broski/baby bro”😂😂
As much as I want people to STOP continuing franchises that should end, I’ll always love the Insidious universe. The 3rd one legit had me screaming 😂😂
in my insidious marathon leading up to this film i felt like i wss taken through the trendiest aspects of horror during the eras those films released. the red door definitely follows that too, felt very 2020s horror, slightly elevated with the message it portrays at the end. i had a lot of fun with it tho very surprised with patrick wilsons directing
I love that your videos aren’t short! I hate when review videos are just 5-8 min long lol but that’s just my personal preference. Also, I wasn’t a big of this movie but I did enjoy it for what it was. the MRI scene messed me up bc I’m pretty sure I’m claustrophobic lol
Great video! 👍🏻 Couldn't help noticing the Guillermo del Toro T-shirt... ❤ Greetings from Mexico...!!! ⚘⚘⚘
I wanted to like this one so much
Omg a foreign horror film I’ve gotten my whole life for is Raw! Have you seen it? I think it’s pretty predictable but so artistic and striking that I just am obsessed with it!
I think she has talked about that one
I actually thought this was the least scary out of the three but I need to rewatch the others. I enjoyed the story though overall though.
Yeah, the vomit scene came out of nowhere and just left me put off the entire rest of the film. It was really lacklustre for me!
Thanks for the Review and Video 😀
Been waiting for this one!! Yay :)
Aside from the movie not being scary, it had an incredibly boring and monotonous story. It felt like it never justified the means of being made other than just being another shameless cash grab.
Hey Sarah! How about making a list of your top movies from the 80s?
Im nearly done watching your faves from the other decades (90s, 2000s and 2010)
I enjoyed the first 2 alot so have been looking forward to this. I agree tho about too much being redone. I also in general an not a fan of too many sequels. But after seeing the trailer I had hope that this might actually be good. I also was excited when I realized the same boy from 1&2 is the same actor grown up.
It was so freaking boring I almost fell asleep twice. The movie is unfortunately garbage.
was boring as hell
I laughed out loud at the Vineyard Vines line from Kris
eyeliner tutorial now 😍
I was underwhelmed by the film, but mostly because it was a straightforward film...no twists at all. Though they set up multiple cool ideas/options that were left hanging.
It would have been nice to have gotten more answers overall. But I did like the film overall, I'd watch it again, it just wasn't as good as l wanted it to be.
Patrick Wilson was also a Broadway singer before he was a film actor and he collaborated with Ghost (my favorite satanic pop metal band lol) to make a banger of a song for this soundtrack. It's called "Stay with me"
Oooo watch all of them and do a follow up video!
" i think this is the end of the lambert story" 2 sec later " as matter fact , This is the end of the lambert story" Lol hilarious!
Keep up great work, love the movie reviews, watching after work.
ahhh obsessed with that shirt, where did you get that?!
Good review and cool video Sarah!👉😃👈
I thought this one was okay. I had only seen the first two films and I really liked the first one so I don’t know why it took me until now to watch them all. But I caught up and then went to see this one. Honestly I went because I heard Ghost was doing the end credit song. lol. I don’t want to spoil so I’ll just say… barf and MRI. Those two scenes I really liked. lol I was only disappointed because I had hoped they would spend more time focused on the demon in the further. He was way too cool with his records and weird stuff to not get a back story.
You look so cute here!! 🖤🖤 I’m loving the haircut :)
LOVE your shirt ❤ Memito del Toro ❤❤ greetings from Mexico 😊
I am once again asking you to review Audition
I couldn't help but chuckle at the end credits song. Ghost?
I was thinking....what the?
Was this a romance flick?😵💫😂😂
Hater. The song was amazing and it was a cover they did with Patrick Wilson. The lyrics fit the franchise perfectly.
I’ve heard the band is good, but that song was so… off putting? For a horror movie I wasn’t expecting such a somber song to finish it off, and Patrick’s voice came out of nowhere. It left me even more confused about my thoughts of the movie tbh
I call my little brother that (but because he's waaay taller than me). Also he signed my birthday card "your little brother". So I don't see how it is weird. Just me maybe?
I rewatched all the films in anticipation for this one and STILL have not gone to the movies to see it, smdh.
Love you Sarah 😊❤
there was a scene in this movie that reminded me of Nightmare of elm street also the jumpscares got me as well.
My son will be three in October and I’m still struggling to watch horrors postpartum! I’m just so much more scared 😂
Love the shirt
I just wish they brung back ever cast member to experience the terror like the first one. Where they were all together at the end to cause every person to have scary thrilling moment
In my Top 5 for the year along with Evil Dead Rise and M3GAN
The last scene of this movie was beautiful. A fitting send-off for the Lamberts. I was seriously choked up at the reveal of Dalton's painting. Especially now that it basically represented three generations, as Josh's Dad has been their light in the darkness the whole time.
Hey I loveeee all your videos I’m a big fan
What were your thoughts on AHS: NYC? It wasn't really horror IMO, but I'd be lying if I said it didn't make me SUPER emotional.
I wish that tiptoe song would be in all of the other Insidious movies
I found this terrible lol i am shocked that it scared you, there was only one scene i liked (the mri) but the whole plot was wack and it's really disappointing because insidious 1 is one of the scariest movies ever to me.
Yeah ditto, it felt so unbelievably predictable. The second the credits started to roll I felt a huge wave of disappointment. That’s it? I dunno every single plot point other than the art-based scenes felt overdone
I just watched all the insidious movies, and I don't understand how they were scary tho.
Have you ever done a review for The Faculty?
Ok totally off topic...the friggin Barbarian baby bottle in the background....is EVERYTHING!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Imo this is the second weakest Insidious next to the third one, which really speaks to the quality of the franchise. Good stuff.
I knew I was gonna love this film because anything patrick wilson is involved in automatically tops my favorite list LOL he is so slay
Also, the end credits song, Patrick Wilson is featured on it (I believe the artist is Ghost??) but I really liked the end credits song he has a nice voice lol! I 1000% agree with the Chris character, did not like that character it made the movie for me hard to watch because I felt she was in too much of it, & well as other observations I had. Btw, I absolutely call my brother, “lil bro” on the phone all the time & my sister “sissy” 😁
Yes it's Ghost!
I call my brother little brother, it's a nickname.
OKAY I LOVED IT!
I didn’t even realize it was already out in theaters until your video came out. My husband took me to see it that night (two days ago). Every jump scare got me flying back in my seat. ‘The last key’ was so stupid so I think this one redeemed the franchise.
We also missed the post credit scene 😩 and I want to rewatch all the previous ones too!!
I loved the movie the fact that the movies were tide together and it kept me on my toes even tho it was cheesy but I love the movies all of them, but this one was good for ending the movie, the demon finally gets to dalton and we got to see this happen since it didn’t in the first, I love that they waited for everyone to be older too and how it affected everyone, I’m sad it the end but also happy. The characters were great! I feel like I grew up with the movie and it was a movie I didn’t know I needed aha I don’t really have anything bad to say tbh it was a good movie 😊
Me and my mom had to try to stay awake this movie was so boring so glad we saw it for free at a free movie website and did not get ripped off out of money but tbh i still feel ripped off we waited 5 days for nothing and i do mean nothing because nothing happened in the movie
Completely off of topic but i LOVEEEE your Guillermo del Toro's t-shirt.
It’s nothing crazy or important, just the door’s light they shut flickers
Red door was disappointing, the story took forever and the demon is only in it for like 3min. The rest is basically a trip back in time
i was so surprised with how much i loved this movie. i loved the drama/slower scenes, and actually cried twice bc certain scenes just made me really emotional (yes i'm a sensitive egg). i was genuinely scared throughout and just had so much fun revisiting this franchise. i saw the og insidious movie in theatres when i was 12 and it is a truly a core memory for me, so seeing this one in theatres at the age of 24 felt like a full circle moment lol. if they keep making insidious movies, i will simply just keep giving them my money bc i always have fun watching this franchise!
I think the first film was the best one especially with the ending is has when we finally get to see the devils homes and they didn’t even need a lot of special affects or cgi but that’s where the rest of these new insidious films have failed it. The over the top cgi and special affects
I just finished watching Insidious: The Red Door it was alright & it could have been better i only watched it because of Ty Simpkins the actor who plays Dalton because i'm a very big fan of him 😁😎
I also felt the roommate should have had less screen time.
True story: my brother literally refers to me as “little sister”. All the time. I low key cringe every single time!
I’m just glad to see people being able to go back to theaters and enjoy movies again!
And I was just starting to love watching movies at home. Lol. Going to the theater is terrible these days
Is there any jumpscare quite as effective as the lawnmower scene in Sinister? I’m excited to see this crossover you mentioned!
lmao this movie is bland as a steak without any seasoning, comparing to first two, this one is just a desperate one last try to milk everything from the franchise. It is literally so boring and souless, even the scares are not scary.
It's a good movie, not very scary to me but definitly a cool mix of horror and drama (especially for those who enjoy family drama movies). And it has a nice music in the credits (Stay with me by Shakeaspeare's Sisters played by Ghost).
Honestly it was just k, but I don’t want to see no more movies involving the family anywhere or just have the son now begin his own journey into the spirit world without involving the other characters. But in the end I felt it was an unnecessary sequel. And the jump scares sucked cause it was never scary, I don’t mind if there one or two but when the film isn’t that interesting or even if the story falls flat then the jump scares become useless
(spoilers maybe)
I honestly thought the grandmas spirit would come help at the end but she didnt lol i was shocked lol
Not a well written movie. Needed to be an hour longer. The movie tried too hard to do too little, massively dissapointed, but, saw it coming after the red demon jump "scare" at the credits of 3.
I literally said the same thing to my bf about the “meninigigi” line on the way home from the theater haha. I love your reviews!!
i was so unbelievably disappointed in this one in all honesty, it felt messy and a lot of the dialogue felt cringe and the plot unrealised. i enjoyed the scares and felt they were in line with previous instalments, like the MRI scene was great but apart from that I was sooo let down by the end of it😅
I had an MRI a couple days after seeing this 😂 not nearly as eventful though, thankfully lol
I really enjoyed this one :)
I walked out of the movie theater during this one 😂
Lol she was wrong 2 weeks later & its already on vod. Watched it last night. It sucked 😂
I'm a fan of the first insidious and honestly still think it should've been left alone as a stand alone. The red door was a huge disappointment to me. I was happy to see that the film revolved around the original family and I can definitely see from a parent aspect how this movie can connect to you, but I just feel like it misses the core, philosophical point of insidious. It's like it takes elements that the first insidious use but without the same impact. One is the pinnacle and 2, despite being weaker was still ok. Everything else was just weak to me. MRI scene was terrifying btw but movie overall was mid.
I genuinely do not understand the appeal of this series. I never have. I've seen them all, I've seen the first one twice and I hated it even more the second time. It has a few great scenes and the over all concept is fantastic but over all it feels so silly. The main demon looks like Darth Maul. I mean...why? The entire aesthetic is so cheesy and it all feels so cheap, like they went to Spirit Halloween and bought the cheapest makeup they could find. And the second movie is SO insanely boring. I truly don't get it. I love horror, so much...but this just ain't it for me. It's perplexing.
I love that you look back to your sassy self in this review! I’m sure life is still tough but seeing you have that smart on any level is great!
haha thank you!
Can’t wait to check it out. Been a while since I’ve really been scared or on tense in a movie. Probably since the first one honestly…
Oh no, this film was a disaster for me 😢 didn’t like neither the jump scares, neither the plot
I know quite a few people who from time to time actually call their brothers little brother. Maybe it's a generational thing?
This movie really tapped into my own personal specific fears which is those scan machines so that scene scared the crap out of me!! I get such bad anxiety and feel so claustrophobic in them, I had a panic attack last time I had to get a scan. It was the most effective scare that I’ve seen in years 😩
The little brother thing was what you noted in the Boogeyman how one of the characters saying they were a person's best friend when they didn't need to.
