    A nicely balanced review. You made me go for the 1A3 model. I like the size and looks of the GWG-1000 line. The functionality and features are tops too.

      Thanks for the feedback Martin! I do love the over-the-top nature of this particular model, it's so huge but yet somehow gets away with it... frequently makes me smile when I look at it on my wrist, like *right now* :)

    WAW! What a watch. I don't have the jewels to wear that beast, but if I did ... hopefully automatic time adjust will include GPS & Bluetooth in the future for us Perth stranded people. And maybe some Gorilla Glass SR+. Keep em comin'.

      @PerthWAtch  Před 6 lety

      Thanks for that - always great to hear from a local! Interesting reading about Gorilla Glass SR+, first time I heard of this... although honestly not sure if it can surpass sapphire as most of the sapphire I have seem perfectly clear enough, and even tiny nicks on mineral glass stand out under sunlight. Certainly a "watch this space" issue!

    Great review. I had this exact model. Loved the look of the watch and still do but it was the most impractical and uncomfortable watch I've ever owned. I guess if I didn't live in Europe and didn't have to wear long sleeve clothing most of the time it wouldn't have been quite so bad. Even so the hard plastic strap and bulk were annoying. The reverse LCD display is rubbish and unreadable in certain lighting.

    @mooseclappin11 Před 6 lety +2

    Wow, that watch is insane! Perhaps such a wide set of features and complications would seem unnecessary to a lot of people, but it's nice to see a watch that flaunts what a high-end quartz movement is really capable of. Besides the gripes you mentioned, my only real issue with it is that it somehow makes my G-Shock look small!
    I think the reason you can get away with a watch like this being so massive, but not something like a "high-end" Invicta, is a combination of asthetics and function.
    A watch like this screams military, and has a lot of very practical functions to it. A really gaudy fashion watch on the other hand, looks like something a pimp would wear, and really doesn't have much practical value.

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  Před 6 lety +2

      Haha, thanks for the insightful and entertaining comment! Well, the gripe you mentioned might be easily solved by making this *your* new G-Shock :D
      The thought about function making the size admissible is a compelling one! Like "Yeah I'm 56mm wide, but I do like 50 things... whereas you Mr 52mm Gold Invicta have 3 hands and what, a date?"

    • @PerthWAtch

Now my next master of G collection (to match and complete my desert camo collection) is this monster desert camo-mudmaster. Although they have discontinue this production, but those left over stocks which many dealers have, its selling price are still maintain at 3k plus after converted in Malaysian Ringgit currency!! DAMMNNN URGGHH!! Heartbroken indeed. I will grab and purchased it if ever the price reduces to 2k, no doubt for sure!. I am writing this with a lot of agony and it is indeed a bad moment for a customer like me who has been using G-Shock watch from the inception of the brand.
    G-Shock being known for its rigidness and quality cannot have issues in less than 3 years in a minimal utilisation condition. It is terribly of a bad quality and I now doubt about the authenticity of the same.
    I bought this 15k worth of G-shock Mud Master watch which has been used hardly (Proof is the wear and tear of the strap and dial) is now having the button issue.
    Well, later I submitted my watch at a G Shock outlet at Navi - Mumbai seawoods Grant Mall and spoke to Casio India people Miss Shalani and Mr Sushil and Service centre people from Dadar. I was terrified by hearing their reply. They said the battery was changed from an aftermarket watch repairer which has caused this issue.
    Your service personnel mentioned my watch faced this button issue happened because of battery replacement from aftermarket. It comes to my surprise, how can it face button issue if the battery got replaced. It is foolish for a brand like you to give such a lame excuse when a customer genuinely wants his query resolved. To reset date and time of the watch, the button needs to be pressed which is the core objective of having button on watch, now how can your personnel mention, because I pressed the button to reset the date it got stuck inside. Is it manufacturer's issue or quality I am not aware but I am sure the wear and tear is of a sub-standard quality
    Cost of my watch is 15k and to bring back the button in place I need to pay 6k. Please justify and help me with a concrete reply or the query. Please do not take customers for granted, It because of customers like us you guys conduct business and hence adhering to absolute service is your duty and moral responsibility to every customer availing your product.

    Thank you once more for your excellent review. Got my GWG-1000 greenbelt version yesterday. Absolutely stunning! You were right! Now, you mentioned that atomic sync (or radio sync) will not work in Australia, so I got curious and decided to search for more information. And I might have some good news for you, because this is what I found:
    "The Japanese signal JJY can be successfully received in Brisbane and Sydney, Australia, even though they are outside the official range of the signal. Unfortunately, atomic G’s have a pre-set list of signals that ‘can’ be received in the different locations, and Casio has decided that there is no available signal in Australia. So if you set your home city to Sydney, the G will not even try to sync.
    Oz G-philes get around this problem by setting their home city to Tokyo overnight, allowing the G to sync, then resetting the home city to Sydney the next morning." Source and full story: mygshock.com/wiki/Atomic_Sync_Signal
    So give it a try.

      Cool! Thanks for sharing that... Alas it is still too bad for me that I am in Perth, and as the most isolated state capital in the world, I'm sure the trick still won't work here! Nonetheless, most Aussies live in the east so this will be useful for many of us :)
      PS. as a quartz this still beats any of the automatics I have for accuracy, so I'm not fussed about the time sync to be honest.

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  Před 6 lety

      Hi there! I think the Mudmaster is not for everyone... it is one of the biggest G-shocks (and there one of the biggest watches) in the range, and some won't like the bulk of it. Nonetheless it is very popular for it's rugged design styling, and sheer feature suite. The price also elevates it several times the average G-shock, but there are several models more expensive too! As for tough solar, well I would say it's safe to assume that it will last well beyond 10 years on the rechargeable cell... but even that has a lifetime to it.

      @PerthWAtch  Před 6 lety +2

      Oh that would be nice indeed, but I suspect it is an intentional and strategic choice being made - gives collectors one more reason to get that other watch, and spreads out the "purpose" of specific lines. If the Mudmaster and Gravitymaster had those features I reckon the Gulfmaster will have to be dropped - it's not great looking and sales would plummet.

    • @adityasundar324
      @adityasundar324 Před 6 lety

      Perth WAtch I totally agree to this. But they should make it common at least for Master of G and the flagship protrek. A sunrise/sunset indicator is so crucial for any Gulfmaster (because you are at the sea).
      Thankfully, the Rangeman GPR 1000 comes with everything and much more. Would get it after a couple of years after a price drop.
      Please do review that watch also, if possible. Thanks

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  Před 6 lety +2

      Yeah I'm not sure why they held back on the top of line 8000 series Pro Trek but the 7000 series has the full suite of features I think. The new Rangeman looks pretty awesome but I think it might have some serious issues with battery consumption on GPS, etc. Also I think they might have done better naming it "Rangemaster"! :)

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  Před 6 lety +1

      Thanks for the comment. I'm curious - what size would you consider sufficiently small? Take a look at the perennial best seller *G-5600E* which has the classic rectangular shape and is 46mm wide, a whole 10mm smaller than this Mudmaster.

    • @bushwood1676
      @bushwood1676 Před 6 lety +3

      Perth WAtch Yeah I've just bought the G-5600E that's a great size and I also have a mudman G-9000-3VDR which is a perfect size for me but the majority of G shocks are way too big for me unfortunately or fortunately it stops me buying more. Fun watches, keep up the good work.

      Er yes, more fit (I assume you mean it's smaller and more fitting) but we're talking about a triple sensor multi-band 6 watch in the GWG-1000 versus a ZERO sensor GSG-100... not really comparable!

      If *you* are doing the comparison it would depend on what *your* preferences are - smaller and cheaper, with tide and moon data? Go for the Gulfmaster.
      For *me* the choice is definitely Mudmaster.

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  Před 6 lety

      Up for debate I think... it certainly *looks* like one of the toughest, but objectively some of the metal G shocks and also the Gravitymaster have more resistance built in (resist against shock, vibration, g-force, magnetism, etc).

    its a nice watch if you like them sort of watches, but that seems an awfull lot of money,,, i have a twin sensor casio , and the temperature side is highly inacurate ,,claims its 23 degrees when its only 9, complete rubbish but there you go thanks shane uk

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  Před 5 lety

      Yeah the temperature side is not useful if worn directly on the wrist, as its strongly influenced by body temperature that way. However I find it accurate when the watch is not in contact with skin, eg. If worn outside a jacket sleeve layer (or if on a table - but that's not where a watch is used!).

    Hi ... I respect your views...I have read the specs of both before I commited to the GG-B100... frankly why do we need a sapphire glass anyways on a GShock ? does not make sense ... why do you need radio control when the ggb100 updates via mobile phone spot on time ...by the way the ggb100 is mud proof and gshock etc..!!! also it can do GPS !!! ..where the gwg1000 lacks... easy to replace CR2025 on the gg100 no brainer .. ggb100 is also a newer version with Carbon Core Gaurd !!! and sunset sunrise functions Quad Core it has it All.....does more things and it has replaced the gwg1000 which is way to pricey with unnesscary sapphire and radio control..by the way ggb100 much cheaper !!!!.Yes true it lacks Solar Power but definitely Not A Breaker otherwise it would be the ultimate just like My Rangeman 1000 GPS and my PRW 7000.
    p.s GGB100 does have Hand Position adjustment !
    Keep well just my 2 pence of thought every man to himself. Cheers.

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  Před 4 lety +1

      Thanks for sharing your thoughts - all respect to your considered opinions. I do enjoy the banter so I will continue the conversation:
      - As for why sapphire, there is not enough room/time for me to talk on this, you can check out my other videos or forum discussions. At very least there is no question sapphire will look pristine for far longer than mineral glass. It is not a question of "need", but want.
      - Again, nobody needs radio control or Bluetooth timekeeping. Between those two, watch enthusiasts consider radio or GPS control to be superior as there no reliance on a phone. GWG-1000 is therefore better.
      - Yep, the GG-B100 is mud and shock proof. Did you know the GWG-1000 is all that plus vibration resistant?
      - The GG-B100 can do GPS... when connected to a phone... which has GPS function. That's not really doing GPS - that's the phone doing the GPS. You can throw the watch away and still have GPS.
      - Replacing a battery might be easy job for some but it is far from a no-brainer... I know more than one person who has cocked up a watch trying to do a battery themselves, and I have nearly done so too. Solar is superior - GWG-1000 is superior.
      - Talking about "need"... what does anyone need for Quad Core? Just a marketing gimmick there!
      - As for sunrise sunset, since you are talking about having a phone anyway... just check the internet dude!
      In the end, there is a reason why the GG-B100 is cheaper - it is simply not as good as the GWG-1000 ;)

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  Před 6 lety +1

      Thanks for the comment - it depends on what you mean by "accurate". Yep, the watch *will NOT be 100% RAZOR SHARP accurate* to atomic time without a signal... but it's a quartz and will still be accurate to +/- 15 secs/month, good enough for almost anyone ;)

    • @alicutz79
      @alicutz79 Před 6 lety

      no sir....i have a rangeman for almost 2 years now,i know very well this watch,i know how and when to receive signal,what is the best position for the watch at night,when is not on my wrist,if the watch cant receive signal from those towers it will lose 4-6 secs per week,in one month is almost a half minute....now think over time,in one year it will lose almost 6 minutes pe year,maybe its not much for some people,but after you get used to accuracy,it will be hard to use this watch(if the radio antenna will broke).I also have a Pulsar Chrono analog,its 10 years old, this one gain 1 sec per week(only one).....compare it to casio whitout signal it is much more accurate...even his old,even his not digital.....1 sec gain per week means 52 sec per year sir! now thats a real accuracy sir,under one minute per year.....:)

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  Před 6 lety

      Hmm... curious, I take it you don't use mechanical watches then? Many collectors love mechanical pieces, and with these we are often dealing with 10 secs/day or thereabouts, still acceptable to many, and we might adjust once a fortnight or month.
      Also I would say that there may be something wrong with your Rangeman! It's supposed to be rated at +/- 15 secs/month so yours is outside manufacturer specs. I know for sure I set my Rangeman last week to atomic time and just checking now it's gained less than 2 seconds (I cannot get a signal in Perth). Your Pulsar Chrono is more like what I experience with most of my quartz watches.

    • @alicutz79
      @alicutz79 Před 6 lety +1

      i dont use mechanicals,but if i could afford,i would buy a victorinox alpnach swiss army......but whit 2000 dollars i probably fix my car,or something else...rangemn cost me only 250 dollars...+/- 15 sec/month from my opinion its too much,thats why i get rangeman(and in the moment when he will not receive any signal,it will be back in his case....) :)
