    GWG-2000: Better materials (SS bezel; forged carbon bumpers; CC guard; SS crown); better digital display; much better illumination; thinner; lighter; improved buttons and crown; larger solar panel area. If you have a GWG-1000 already, probably, not worthy to upgrade. If you don't, it makes sense to get the GWG-2000, specially if you can get it at less than MSRP.

      @bitumen83 Před 2 lety +12

      Besides different materials and little bit different design there is no too much difference. Illumination is same, on this model of gwg 1000 shown in video illumination is bad but in gwg 1000 1a (I own that one) illumination is that same like on gwg2000. Honestly not worth of extra money if you have gwg 1000, same module.
      They should introduce totally new model with added features like independent altimeter (not connected with barometer) and depth meter i.e. quad-sensor but in hard core package.

    Great vid. I have both watches. I use the 1000 day-to-day (it's a rugged beast) and the 2000 for when I'm not working or doing any activity where it may get damaged. I've had other G-Shocks before and have another metal CasiOak now too in the gun metal.

  • @johnswan6161
    @johnswan6161 Před 2 lety +22

    The gwg 1000 black model that your using for this comparison to compare the illumination is the only one that doesn't have the numbers illuminate, all the other gwg1000 illuminate all the numbers just like the gwg2000 , they made the black version gwg1000 that your using like that on purpose, they toned everything down for a more formal look, get another gwg1000 model and you'll see what I'm talking about, this black version has a function that you can program to automatically light up the L.E.D. when you tilt the watch at an angle to look at the watch at night time in the dark, this function illuminates the watch better than just the glow in the dark function, this function might work for all other models , but not sure, I know for sure this function is equipped with the black version because I own one.... you did an awesome job on this video, kudos to you 👏

  • @jonirwin7316
    @jonirwin7316 Před 2 lety +20

    Wonderful comparison. Thanks. Many differences between them, large & small. What stands out to me is the addition of metal in the bezel, easier to read indices, & a resin keeper which will stay in place better than the previous metal keeper. Like them both, with the 2000 getting the nod.

  • @brianmsahin
    @brianmsahin Před 2 lety +12

    I haven't got either, mine is a GG-1000-1A3DR, so that will do me fine. But of these two I prefer the GWG-1000 . It just has a sleeker look. The style of band is definitely nicer on the 1000 but that's a matter of taste of course. If I had the 1000 already I would stick with it, and if you can get it cheaper than the 2000 it's better value too. However, I do think the lume on the 2000 is more practical and looks better.

    As a tradesman I love my GWG1000-1A3, I wear it grinding, working with dust and concrete, working on the car, it bashes against walls and metal and is unphased, the saphire protection was the selling point for me, flawless in any environment! The resin has some scuffs but hardly noticeable and that's what it's there for 😉 it also has full numeral and hour marker lume unlike the stealth as many have pointed out here. I like the metal on the GWG2000 but with no extra features, I would buy the GWG1000 any day of the week!

The only thing I don't like is the green strap, so I ordered a black one. But in terms of durability and the design of the bezel I think the older model is better, and the crystal is more recessed. The GWG 2000 is a business decision to soon replace the old one with an easier to make version. There is no outer protective casing, the strap holder is plain rubber, the knurling on the buttons seems easier to make and the back plate looks really cheap in comparison on the new one.
    The 2000 looks fancier with the metal crown exposed and the "forged carbon" parts but the 1000 is a legendary piece and, to me, being totally enclosed in the protective casing makes it a heavier duty tool. Plus it is bigger...

    In Australia, the 2000 is $1399 and the 1000 can be had for $675 if you shop around. Considering they both have the same module I’ll be getting the 1000. I simply can’t justify double the price for the same module in a slightly different box.

    • @DWtuna
      @DWtuna Před 2 lety +4

      The same module is used in some of the Protrek series as well. They're "thinner" and cheaper with just about all the functionality of the Mudmaster. I think Casio knows that Mudmaster is their million dollar baby, but it has aged. All tech becomes paperweight (in terms of price) after a few years of release, so a fresh skin cannot justify the extra AUS 600, unless theyr are completely covered in titanium or something.

    Actually been wanting to purchase a Mudmaster now for 3 years. I decided to buy it now and get the GWG-1000-1A3ER. The 1000 series is the nicest and by far the best looking model. The 2000 version looks like an oversized plasik toy. It just doesn't look good and it even wares like a toy. I would buy the 1000 series any day. I also prefer the backlight on the 1000 series. It doesn't fry your eyes and it's subtle but illuminates just plenty and perfectly.

      1k is made of (literally) plastic (resin) while the 2K is made out of Carbon Fiber and Stainless Steel. Also the 1K wear and IS actually bigger than the 2K. No mentioning the numbers on the 1k dial are oversized and the overall design on the 2k has improved to a more "serious" look. Seems clear which one looks like a toy.

    To answer your question-
    I wear the original Mudmaster faithfully- I suppose that rise in the watch band can be used for grip
    But it coincides perfectly to my wrist while I wear the watch
    The rise in the resin keeps the metal band in place perfectly
    You can't tell from your perspective because you have the watches wrapped around the thicker faux leather cylinder
    Wear the Mudmaster and you'll quickly see how the rise works in harmony with the metal band
    The 2000 doesn't have the metal band
    Therfore has no use for the resin rise
    In my opinion 🤓

    Как обладатель обеих часов (1000-е уже продал) скажу
    Касаемо практичности что
    1)1000 казались тяжелее(скатывались немного в бок)
    2) больше размером и при надевании или снятии одежды мешались больше
    Собственно из-за этих причин и 1000е продал.
    Из плюсов можно отметить (мое мнение что все таки 1000е будут по крепче) т.к. удары верхний безель будет гасить лучше + полностью металлический каркас внутри но тем не менее мне дизайн 2000х нравятся больше ,смотриться побогаче.
