    I bought the gwg-2000 a week ago and absolutely love it!! Fantastic design and feels very premium.
    I have 4 g-shock now and only the 1st one isn't solar nor radio controlled, but I bought it in 1998 or 99.
    For me not having solar and radio is a deal breaker, so I will only buy a new g-shock with these 2 options, a must for me.
    Thank you for the video.

    I don't agree that the ggb100, the second iteration shown, was a replacement for the GWG 1000. It was a cheaper alternative with different features. The new 2000 is the replacement.

    • @typerightseesight
      @typerightseesight Před 2 lety +3

      totally different watch. the ggb100 kind of replaces the gulfmaster. its 10x more accurate in barometer mode and theres a figure 8 compass calibration. so no need for depth/tide or moon graphs.

  • @charlesludwig9173
    @charlesludwig9173 Před 2 lety +17

    Compass, temp, and altimeter are ideal features for long-range shooters. These features allow shooter to input azimuth, temp, and altitude into calculations to understand bullet trajectory and needed sight adjustment at target distance in prevailing wind/weather conditions.

    GG-B100 should not be compared as a follow up to the 1000, it's an entire new line and it's own category. I would say it draws from the 1000 model in terms of design and functionality but it's no replacement.

    • @typerightseesight
      @typerightseesight Před 2 lety +3

      It's actually way more accurate. It's barometer can do .1hpa. That's 10x more precise than this watch. They didn't impliment that into this watch nor the figure 8 compass calibration im assuming because its solar atomic and screw down.

    Excellent review! I purchased my GWG1000 a year and a half ago when it was available for a few hundred US Dollars less than the 2000. Although I love my 1000, I probably should have sprung for the 2000, primarily for the size reduction. By-the-way, I 've had a Rolex Submariner/Date for 40 years but I rarely wear it these days in favor of the GWG1000.

    I get it the 1000 and 2000 are feeling more premium and you want to justify paying twice the price of the GGB-100. But calling the GGB-100 useles because “you need a phone for all that data” is simply not true.
    If you don’t go on a hike for 2 years the battery is no issue. And it does not run out of time that much for a hike of 1 week. So unless you need to press a detonation button on day 3 at that exact time you are better of with the 1000 or 2000....
    What I do want to know is what time the sun sets and I need to figure out what distance I traveled, so a step counter is really useful. Can the premium 1000 and 2000 do that?
    Sure your 1000 and 2000 keep the time on the second accurate where the GGB-100 could be 10 seconds behind after a week without phone. But the extra functions I get with the cheaper GGB-100 are way more important for me.

    Purchased the Black and Sand gwg-2000. They are beautifully designed and feel premium. Of the two, the sand seems more overall even in color. The black bezel, copper accents, and darker buttons are very attractive. The black version is very nice, but too shiny and glossy. Compared to my previous Mudmaster GG-8100 burton edition, it is an improvement with the forged carbon and higher quality buttons. The solar panel, forged carbon and buttons on the gwg 2000, made me fall in love with this watch. I think I will return the black version and keep the sand.

    I have GB 100 - rarely take the phone out with it - the phone is only required for waypoint logging and time accuracy update but since the time accuracy is not gonna be effected that much over several days, if you don't take your phone with you, its going to be fine - honestly, if you happen to be in a survival situation, I don't think timekeeping accuracy is even important. The more important functions, compass, baro, alt, temp - are all onboard instruments.
    Leaving your phone behind, you're only really giving up additional convenient features - doesn't really effect the watch's functionality.
    For camping, absolutely the Mudmaster - also dive with it and mountain bike.
    Ideally, though, if I could afford, I'd own a Frogman for diving since you can still use the buttons while submerged, just gives that little bit extra piece of mind while underwater - G Sport, for mountain biking, just functions more relevant to sport, pedo, heart rate, can save stopwatch times in memory, etc - and a Mudmaster for everything survival - just the most hard-wearing for anything land based in inhospitable environments.

    Im considering to get a gwg2000, as my gwg1000 is starting to get a stuck second hand and stiffed button. Apparently, the stuck second hand problem is very common among the gwg1000. I hope they fixed problem on the 2000s
    The reason i didn't get the ggb100 is the ggb100 is a much stripped down ver of the original gwg1000. Without the tough solar and sapphire crystal are the major drawbacks, not to mention that the ggb100 need to hv a battery change every 2 to 3 yrs...

    I recently purchased the Casio Mudmaster GSG-100. What attracted me was the fact that it had hour / minute hands, was solar powered, and it looked rugged and sporty. However, I was really disappointed to find out that unlike my solar powered Casio GW-530A it does not connect and self adjust the time to the Atomic Clock. My GW-530A cost half as much back in 2010, yet had the self adjust feature which I personally value a lot.

      I still have my Casio waveceptor that I purchased in 2008. It has withstood abuse and still wouldn't give up. Whenever I replace the battery, it has to be sent off for the radio control time to be set which I find an inconvenience. My new G Shock GG-B100 ( the second release ) has Bluetooth which is an excellent option. The phone updates via a signal from my smartphone and does not need sending off to anyone for the time to be set.

    The first negative thing people say it's huge? Truth is Model 55222 $100 model 5122 $100 are the same size , I love my gwg 2000 my only complaint is the strap it's little hard and pulls the hair on my arm ultimately it was the solar feature and sapphire Cristal is why I bought one ,there are battery offerings for less that should definitely be considered

    Im after a mudmaster, but the choice is confusing, i want a basic simple chunky model, solar powered, i don't have a mobile so one that connects to one is no good to me.
    I spend most of my time sailing, i need a light function for night time and a simple alarm, i'm not fussed about alt, steps, barom, alt. I realise that without these functions i don't need a mudmaster, but i like the design, chunkyness and build quality of G shock. Some of the models seem to have come away from the large chunky design which is what i'm after.Do you have any models in mind that would fit what i'm looking for?
    confused, so was the girl in the shop who kept pointing out dress watches as they would better suit my needs.

    • @pappanatas
      @pappanatas Před 9 měsíci +1

      If you need it for sailing and outdoor activities, go with the 1K as it is more "mis treatable" due to the all-resin case and bezel. For me the 2K it's a better watch, but the fact it's made out of carbon fibre and steel bezel, makes it more suitable for "wearing" only. Of course you can adventure with it and hit it with no concern, but the scratches will be more noticeable. 2K It´s big but well balanced, 1K is clownish-big and tall, but if you need it to be chunky, go with the 1K, it is a really good watch anyway.

  • @Victor_Eastwood
    @Victor_Eastwood Před 7 měsíci

    It is a watch to use with care, over time you will have a case full of scars and a new strap that fades. The gwg 1000 was like a tractor wheel, this is like a sub wheel. It's all marketing, a mudmaster is used without fear. This watch is for taking the subway to the office, for city people who have money. It's a way to sell, but it's not a mudmaster just a good watch

      This is not true most of this review is wrong.
      GGB has a step tracker, it has a battery but you DO NOT need the app to see the data and you don’t need the app to adjust the time. That said they are quartz watches so time loss isn’t that huge of a deal.
      The GWG2000 does have solar but doesn’t have a step tracker, and the radio control is very very very spotty. I live on the east coast in the USA and RARELY get an update.

    Re not needing a phone to keep the watch current, If you are out in the wilderness miles away from anywhere, 'getting away from it all' why does it matter if the watch is a second or two or even a minute or two) wrong? hence, the world radio function to keep current time exact, seems superfluous. Away from it all = doesn't matter,; in civilisation = sync with phone.

    I got bad news for you buddy, they are not indestructible! I bought the top of the line Mudmaster just a little over two years ago for $800! Had to order it from Holland! Far the first two years it was great. Since then I have two twin granddaughters who love the watch. So…I would take it off and let them play with it in their playpen. The wood bars of the playpen are 24 inches high. One day my granddaughter was playing with the watch and she held it over the rail and dropped it onto the tile floor ( 24 inches down). The indestructible forged carbon around the light button broke leaving a sharp edge. Casio said it’s out of warranty so I’m out of luck! So a 14 month old baby can break this watch! I’ll be buying a Seiko in the future! $800! and a baby can break it!!!!!!
