In the previous Love and Thunder trailer we got a glimpse at Jane Foster as Mighty Thor.
And in this awesome trailer, we get to see a lot more of Jane in action.
Though, the trailer doesn’t give us any hints into how Jane becomes Mighty Thor.
But we think we know how Jane becomes worthy and gains Thor’s power. And also how Mjolnir will be reformed.
And not only that, but we got to talk about why the hammer choses Jane and doesn’t go back to Thor.
Also, how the MCU will address the tragic aspects of Jane becoming Mighty Thor, and that’s her cancer.
So let’s talk about how all of this could play out in Love and Thunder.
Before we get into how all of this is going to play out in the movie, we got to talk about the story from the comics where Jane becomes Mighty Thor.
Jane becomes worthy of Mjolnir after Thor loses his worthiness.
That goes down in the “Original Sin” storyline.
Where Nick Fury whispers to Thor that Gorr the god butcher was right. Gorr the god-butcher is going to be the villain in Love and Thunder.
And the thing Gorr was right about was that all the gods are selfish, and they just ruin things in the universe.
Deep down Thor kinda agrees with what Gorr says, so he loses his confidence in his godhood and feels unworthy. And that makes him unworthy of Mjolnir.
And by the way, this story is the aftermath of the brilliant Gorr the god butcher storyline from Jason Aaron. It's really one of the best Thor stories in the comics, and I really hope that the MCU will adapt certain parts of it in the movie.
After Thor becomes unworthy, the hammer choses Jane as its new owner. And that’s how Jane becomes the Mighty Thor. And she proves that she is worthy of that title, many times over, with her heroics and sacrifices.
Unfortunately becoming Mighty Thor is both a blessing and a curse for Jane. Because before the hammer chose her, Jane was diagnosed with breast cancer.
When she is in god-form her cancer is completely gone. But once she reverts back to human form, she still has cancer.
The side effect of getting Thor’s powers is that all the chemotherapy treatment is purged from her body, and that makes the cancer metastasize and get far worse.
So being Thor is literally killing her. And yet, Jane keeps putting her life on the line to help others and be the hero.
And Taika Waititi confirmed that the movie will be sticking pretty closely to Jane’s storyline in the comics. But clearly some things will need to be adjusted for Love and Thunder, to work with the story in the movie.
And now let’s talk about how Mighty Thor’s story will be done in the MCU.
Let’s start with how Mjolnir is fixed.
Well, actually let’s address that. Because when you take a close look at the hammer, it’s clear that the hammer isn’t actually fixed.
We can still see the cracks from it being destroyed.
So it’s not exactly reforged, but more like the hammer’s pieces have been glued together. I guess by some combination of science and magic. Or just some Flex tape…
Jane is a very smart woman, she’s a leading astrophysicist and astronomer, and she is an expert on all things related to Asgard. She is the first human mortal who probably ever set foot on Asgard. All of those things are the reason why she received a Nobel prize.

Thor "tells" Mjolnir to "always look after" and "protect her," while they were initially dating. (Korg tells the story better than I ever could lol)
Anyway, just like hiw Odin imbued the Hammer with the power to choose who exactly would be worthy enough to wield it, the celtic symbol on the Hammer glowed in acknowledgement after Thor said to it, while watching Jane sleep; "She's wonderful isn't she, Mjolnir? You have to promise me you'll always protect her!'

Thor wasn't "double worthy" when wielding both Stormbreaker and Mjolnir. No worthiness enchantment was ever placed on Stormbreaker, which is how Thanos was able to grab it and nearly eviscerate Thor before Steve proved he could always use Mjolnir.

Also, Starlord asking "Don't you think we all should have a weapon like that?" and Thor replying "You simply lack the power to wield them" is solid proof that Stormbreaker doesn't have a (specifically Odin) worthiness criteria to wield. I think the coolest thing about Jane's Thor is how she can utilize the fact that Mjolnir is shattered when fighting. I love it when details aren't forgotten (RIP Quicksilver) and it pays a bit of homage to the comic book Jane in that it gives her something she can do with Mjolnir that Thor couldn't do himself. In the comics I think she could control the hammer's movements as to make it spiral around and effectively fight without her needing direct contact with it as frequently as Thor did.

I personally don't think that Jane has to "fix" Mjolnir. I think that the enchantment is more powerful than the hammer so when Hela broke the hammer she wasn't able to destroy Odin's enchantment (if she even knew it was there). And then no one worthy has ever touched the pieces since. The Asgardians built a pedestal underneath it to revere it and then Jane comes up at some point and touches it. Being worthy, the enchantment reforms the hammer and she's able to use it and gets the power of Thor.

My theory is simple since Thor hasn't seen the hammer and no one worthy has come to pick up the hammer until Jane and it repairs itself, Or even though she is sick she is still trying to defend Asgard when it's attack and comes to her. Or like you said she still has some type of energy left from the stone that helps rebuild it.
I'm think Mjölnir can't be called my Thor at this time because he has become unworthy because it appears he's going through a midlife crisis in this film and will have to over those things that give him doubt.
As for the hammer being sentient, I believe you are right. It's either going to have his own sentient mind or it can be Odin read God of Hammers story arc.

I mean this Hammer does not 100% repair itself. it doesn't even matter what stone she has if that stone is just going to repair the Helmer 90 something percent. I just don't believe that Thor should have any willpower towards a hammer that was destroyed of course it should go to someone else. because the ax is what he put his life on the line for. it's all just stupid dick Thor would become unworthy of his power just for this woman to will the hammer when the hammer was destroyed and he put his life on the line making that ax all of his energy and power should go towards the ax not the hammer.

I think your imagination needs to be put into making your own comic book heroes and comic books. You have a good imagination and a talent for filling in plot holes in the MCU, that they don't care to address. Your theories are both interesting and entertaining, and if you had your own stories published, I think you would already start off with a healthy fan base. Keep up the good work.

The story was interesting and Bale's performance was brilliant. However the rest of Love and Thunder fell completely flat. Relying to much on worthless gags instead of a compelling story with real consequences.
What would have been far more interesting is if Jane was sent to earth by the Priests of Parma. This could have given her a real compelling backstory. Which would have flown under the radar of both Thor & Thantos. It would have made her existance a key part of the MCU timeline.

I really don't think you paid much attention to the movies. When Odin died, Thor gained the power of Odin Force and is now called Thor Force. Like his father who enchanted the hammer, Thor in the movie told Mjolnir while traveling into the dark universe to protect his love one Jane in the flash back. That turned into an enchantment that was added into Mjolnir and you seen the symbol glowed. When Jane got close to the broken Mjolnir. Maybe the enchantment put the hammer itself together and bonded to Jane because of the cancer to prevent her from dyeing in addition to her being worthy

    1) wanda and pietro are said to be the only 2 subjects exposed to the mindstone and survive in testing. So we could fill in the gaps that their mutant genes where ignited and it all fits in well with as we slowly bring forth x-men. Though you can't put much thought into wondering what the mindstone has to do we seeing the image of the scarlet witch when exposed (I have yet to see Dr 2 btw, so maybe there is info in that).
    2) I really hope they do NOT kill off Jane at the end since it sounds like she's getting another chance to thrive, even if only for 1 film.

My theory is that everyone who can wield the powers are actually descendants of EGO, while Starlord could hold a infinity stone without dying, so could Thanos, and you have the dark lords that can wield power and uses infinity stones you also had several god like beings that had powers but they all didn't have the same powers. While Ego spent a unknown time going throughout the galaxy in a attempt to have an offspring that was able to be his equal there was likely many who after being born were a being without any potential for powers, but since he was looking for that instant result the future generations with a recessive gene developed powers. These being the minor gods that has powers and could hold the infinity stones and use their powers with the greatest power was having all of them at the same time, this put them with greater powers than EGO to be able to affect life galaxy wide. Jane is likely also a descendant of EGO but with a recessive gene, this is why the ether( infinity stone) power was able to enter her and not kill her instantly but given it was a recessive gene so it did cause gene damage that results in here cancer. the hammer as with all the tools made in the dwarf forge are themselves a result of a energy from a energy from the remnant of one of the eternals that is at the heart of the captured star the dwarfs use to power the forge. This power of the eternal entity is embedded into every tool. when Jane has the hammer the hammer is able to use it's energy to activate the dormant genes in her body to temporarily give her the power of one of the gods. Since she has no natural powers of here own it uses the gene imprint of it's prior users to activate powers within her so she has Thor's powers and some of his sisters, this takes a toll on her human genes. Captain America was able to wield the hammer because the Gamma radiation treatment he underwent activated some of his dormant EGO genes, he was not able to use the hammer until Thor had his new Axe because the hammer becomes bonded to a user. Vision was able to pick up the hammer because he had some of Thor's DNA and a Infinity stone embedded in his forehead. The hammer Identified the Thor within vision.

I have to wonder if the hammer reuniting and rejecting Odinson isn't some sort of play on the god of hammers storyline. Basically the sentient cosmic storm that Odin put into the hammer gets sick of being a hammer and goes around killing people and causing shit. Thor eventually has to defeat it and it's a huge thing. Maybe we could see Thor taking his place as all-father Thor at the end of that in the movies, since he had to use the Thorforce to stop the god of hammers (the storm/Mjolnir) at the end of the story. Just a thought.
