Such a dust free and organized shop. Amazing set up.
I love the two tone woods. The old wood is gorgeous. I love all the character they have. Just beautiful.
"Welcome to woodworking. Cutting wood and gluing it back together in a different way". Love it!
đđ€Ł
Its an honor and privilege to build furniture for your own home and family. Slow down, enjoy the process or you are missing out.
đđ
this might be your best build so far! This is going to be a fun sketchup project!
Thanks brother
Great table and use of the Domino. Will need to review how you managed the large Dominos.
This is beautiful. Congratulations đ
Thank you!! đ
thank you for having it recorded and for sharing it with us, i really appreciate it, The table looks beautiful, also your home
The finish product looks amazing, congrats. Iâm getting my feet wet, started with your cabinet plans and built myself some really nice cabinets for my shop. I hope one day I get to do something like this but I have long ways to go
Those turned out really nice. Looks great in the covered patio.
That, sir, is a masterpiece.
Thank you!
Thereâs dozens of us that watched your spray video! Dozens of us!
My hard-core fans đ€Łđ€Ł
Wow! Just . . . WOW!
đ
I love a good table build. And Iâve really enjoyed your cabinet build series. But this table baseâŠ. Really caught me off guard. I LOVE IT! I too like having projects that are painted along with wood. But I really love the way the stretchers go together. And the rustic wood turned out beautiful. Great project! Amazing!
I was very happy with how it turned out. Sometimes you're not sure when you're designing it
Nice! My Son in Law built two dining tables from reclaimed pine, love the color.
Thanks!
Damn Sam, that is a beautiful table!
I got the domino df500 a few months ago. Love it. If I every decide to build a table I will talk myself into the df700. Enjoyed this build video.
Yeah the 700 is great but only for larger projects.
@@MWAWoodworks do you think double rows of the 10mmx50mm (or whatever the largest size for the df500 is) could replace what you did on this table with the df700?
It would be hard to know. My main worry would be that the 500 can only plunge 25mm. I plunged 70mm for most of my joints.
Great project. Great patio.
Not done any mortise and tenons and canât afford the ÂŁ1200 domino as a novice still building my workshop. Put a rubber mat floor down and going to test it on Tuesday with my wheelchair to see if ok fingers crossed
Awesome build! And thanks for the fence tip.
Since someone always says this about my comments, yeah, yeah I know...I'm long winded and my comments are like novels....
In my experience dowels are actually stronger than Dominos when you use the correct number for the joint size but they do take longer...Not as much time as some would try to convince you but they do. Just like with anything in woodworking, it all comes down to your workflow and how tightly you nail it down. When I need to knock out a bunch of repetitive pieces at once AND don't need the added strength, I use my Domino. When I absolutely need the strength I grab my self-centering dowel jig and use multiple, appropriately sized dowels.
In general, whatever method results in the most direct wood face to wood face contact will be stronger as the glue sets up. I should say it also depends on how good your glue is as most times when either Domino or dowel joints fail it's due at the glue up points .
I'm not trying to piss in anyone's Cornflakes so please don't argue with me. Do your own research and you'll see for yourself. There are plenty of CZcams videos out there proving what I said to be true as long as the tester used the appropriate number of dowels. If you don't want to dig around much there is a recent one by Scott Walsh done a few months back. He treated it like a science experiment, gathering data, break points etc. but there are others out there. Channels: Rag n' Bone Brown, Bourbon Moth etc. The Bourbon Moth video compared to bunch of different types of joints and it's pretty interesting as neither dowels or Domino's turned out to be the strongest.
Either way, it's just a tool and people up on should use whatever makes them happy. I'm just offering info to those who might think they MUST drop a grand or more because someone told them that it's strongest bond when it's simply not.
Where the Domino shines is it's ease-of-use so if that's the most important thing to you it's your $1,000 + solution.
Thanks! Strength was not a deciding factor for investing in a domino, though.
@@MWAWoodworks Yep, ease of use, I really do get it....Thanks for responding and I hope you don't feel like I was giving you trouble. It's hard to argue with a faster workflow if/when you need it. Also, people should use whatever they like. My Domino was a gift and I love my family for it so you won't hear me knock the tool, just the cost.
Growing up dirt-poor makes you see it from a different point of view. To my the best thing about woodworking is its accessibility for people whether they have bags of money to spare or not... although that seems to be changing. For years I've been knocking out loose tenons with a hand drill & dowel jig in about 5-6 minutes both sides (less if I actually try) with a jig that cost me but about $40 and I had drills anyway. I just wanted to make sure that those on a string budget know that they don't have to sit on the sidelines thinking they can't do something they can.....easily. Especially because a lot of CZcams watchers are new to the craft and looking for tool buying advice.âïžđđ
I'll be checking out more of your stuff, thanks again
Beautiful!
Beautiful finished product, sir! đđŒđ€đŒ
Thanks!đ
Cool build Matt! Love how you combined the white parts with the reclaimed wood!
Thank you, my friend! Good to hear from you.
@@MWAWoodworks good to âseeâ you too :)
Nice build there Matt!đđ» I really like it! Iâll be making one of those jigs too! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks Bill, yeah the jig is very handy
Man that looks amazing, I'm digging that color choice.
fantastic job on the table! looks awesome in that space
Thanks man! I'm glad with how it turned out.
Love your humor!
Very Beautiful
Excellent video. Thanks for posting.
My pleasure
Great video!
Looks great! I love the color.
Thanks!
Super cool design and expertly executed.
Wow thanks for the kind words!đ
Mixing the new with the old can be tricky. You did it perfectly. Great work!
Beautiful work, Matt! Really fantastic looking table and benches! đ
Stay safe there with your family! đđ
Thanks đ
That finish is absolutely spectacular.
Yeah turned out nice.
OkâŠ. Your Domino sales pitch has me cracking up. I love it!!!!
đ€Łđ€Ł
Very nice! I love the look of the table top.
Yeah it's got a lot of character
Great video! Reclaimed lumber certainly provides unique challenges to overcome
For sure, but the output is very nice
That is one beautiful table. Well worth the effort. đđ
Thanks! It's doing quite well in its new home on our porch!
Nicely done!
Thanks!
this was a very nice video I like your style you don't explain every tool and what it's for like a lot of other annoying videos that assume that complete beginners are watching advanced furniture making and you showed very useful methods with the larger domino which most people don't have but could be convinced to get it after seeing this.
Haha I explain stuff a lot but this wasn't the video for it
Great video, great looking table, love the sense of humor.
Thanks for the kind words đ
Very nice work done thanks for giving such wonderful ideas đ
Thanks đ
@@MWAWoodworks welcome
I have to say that I have always used the classic way to make bread board ends but was very impressed on how you used dominoes to do the same job which is much easier and probably as secure if not more so depending on the glue used.
Yeah functionally should be identical but much faster to execute.
âHereâs where a raccoon gave birthâ đđđđđđ
Do you have a build video for that work table with the dog holes?
The black top one? Yes. The other one, no.
Great table and benchâs.
Thanks!
I am not a fan of reclaimed lumber but man! that looks amazing đ
Thanks for sharing.
Do you still have your office desk build with LED lights video? Donât see it anymore.
Great video. đđ
Great video and tips. The table is beautiful â€. Could this table be built with the domino 500, by doubling up the amount of Dominos you used?
Not sure about using the 500 for this. The problem is the 500 can only plunge 25mm. Doubling up would be a good idea for sure
I'm subbing mainly because of that tiny push stick đ
Lol
Great table! Will you have plans to purchase?
No I did not make plans available for this!
I would love some plans on the table base
No plans, sorry!
Nice. No draw bores?
No, I kind of did the opposite and clamped my boards very tight so the wood will spring back against the dowels.
I see a hip thrust Domino technique. Someone call Bourbon Moth!
đđ€Ł
Great sense of humor, great skills, great lab, very educational? What can I say? You definitely earned a subscription
Thanks đ
Would be the best way if the foam would stop moving ! LOL I'm not the only one !
This was never a problem until I put Formica on my assembly bench! đ€Ł
Greetings, (Takes Deep breathe) .... As a newbie to woodworking, I was shuddering when I heard you were going to paint the maple... I literally paused the video, bowed my head, put my hand over my face, grimaced for a few seconds and said a brief prayer to the hardwood gods for the potential blasphemy... However, the table and benches came out nicely... Seriously, I love the contrast and will tuck painting hardwood (Hardwood Gods forgive me) in my mental rolodex. LMAO... But my question is, what application did you use for your layout and planning at the 3:15 min mark ? Not that you need to hear it, but great build, and now I'll scour your other videos.. Take it easy..
đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
But seriously, can you share what software you use to layout your designs?
Fusion 360
Looks great! Iâm always afraid of someone sitting on wide breadboard ends like that and snapping them right off. You?
I don't think that would ever happen with 5 huge dominos, unless you tried to park your car on it.
I probably I need to use your patented neck-move on my next project. How much it is?
HAHA!! Pity views are all you get from now on!
Awesome table, I love that taper jig idea. Well done!
đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł thanks Jason!
Question: If you know that you are gonna work with short pieces of wood, why not buying shorter pieces in first place and save the big trees for another more "usefull" situation? đ¶ Love your channel and content anyway. Thanks for all the tips! đđ
By the way... Dowels for the win for me. đ
You can't just buy shorter pieces of lumber. You have to buy whatever is being offered which is generally 10-12 foot lengths. If you do find someone selling smaller offcuts they are probably charging way more money than you would pay buying regular sized lumber.
@@MWAWoodworks Ahh Ok. I see. Is differs from over here (other country). Sometimes I find offers of 4 foot or less lengths offcuts for 30 to 50% the price of the full lengths (It depends of the section sizes offcourse). Thanks for the aswer! đđ
Hey now! I watched that finishing video at least 3 times and just this past week constructed a paint booth based on your design! đ
Thanks for the loyalty đŻ
đđđđȘ
đ
Thumbs up for the raccoon joke.
Thanks! đ€Ł
Make no promises, tell no lies.
Paint away! I'm so tired of trying to get anything other than paint on maple to look good.
I use general finishes high performance when I want a clear coat. It doesn't color the wood one bit. Any other time I paint it
My rich Azz neighbor has a domino.
Rich azz neighbors be like that
7:40-8:00 sad childish and pathetic.
Damn good looking table and great hints. More of this, less of the other....
I do think the white paint for this ruins the look heavily :(
Well I guess I'm glad you're not my wife đđ€Ł
Why did I watch this?
đ€Ł
Wahhhh but furniture takes too long to build đ
đđ€Ł
Why the hell do you use solid wood if you paint it anyway? I don't get those decisions...
As opposed to what?
@@MWAWoodworks anything. Plywood, MDF, whatever.
Maybe good quality maple is super cheap where you live but for me it is just wasting of good looking solid wood.
I only ever paint maple or poplar. I'm not building my table out of plywood or MDF, that's for cabinet making not furniture making. Maple is one of the cheapest hardwoods and is super durable and perfect to paint as I explain in my video.
No I will not follow someone whom states to the masses that you must buy a metal detector to find tiny steel nails so you donât ruin a high end solid tungsten carbide toothed saw blade?????? Itâs carbide???????? What Do you think the steel nails or screws are going to do to a carbide saw blade shit I just cut 20-24 8D penny nails with a cheap circle saw blade this morning in some ole wood hues what saw blades fine as there made to cut steel nails and screws without damage hundreds of times eventually wearing out and needing sharpened now the saw stop break thing is legit but I would bet $1000 cash in hand right now that less than 5-7% of the viewers of this video have a freaking $3,500-$7,500 table saw shit I made over $7,000 last week in my woodworking shop and I donât even have one for gods sake man come on
Wow đ maybe relax a bit today.
Save this one for your hate mail video. Hysterical.
Lighten up Francis!
This one needs punctuation and oxygen... Maybe a little less caffeine.
This is my first time seeing channel and maybe its me, but this woodworker doesnât seem to like woodworking. Maybe he just has a quirky sense of humor that comes of as salty and condescending.
