Because I'm now in a smaller shop, I thought it would be cool to design a table that served double duty, providing ample room for table saw support and plenty of real estate for assembling my projects. The icing in the cake is the thoughtfully-design base with plenty of storage and an integrated shelf for your favorite table saw sled.

Get your mitts on the plans! thewoodwhisperer.com/product/outfeed-assembly-table-plan/
I love these plans. However I have a strange question: where in the heck do you find black melamine? Big box store carries white, so they referred me to local hardwood dealer. Nope. They recommended a place specializing in plywood. Who referred me back to big box store or a hardwood dealer! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I’ve tried to buy them 5 times but no luck, even made an account it asked 🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
This was perfect as a vanity desk for me. czcams.com/users/postUgkxMAlHv7-BBWMrPRm5-uEoD6rtdT7SG2Qr Especially the glossy finish. Easy to cleanI was looking for something that wasn't the traditional white and with more of a modern feel. This fit the bill beautifully. I put it together with no problems, by myself in under an hour.Make sure you double check where you place the drawer tracks before screwing down. I had one track that needed to be aligned with different holes than the rest.
I'm a beginning woodworker and found this book czcams.com/users/postUgkxD-QRFQz730FJEh4f9BYSf-nkIMIC9hL_ gives useful advice on different types of tools & their usage, types of bits, safety etc. So when i do start to buy tools and bits, i basically know what to look for, how to use them & the types of woods certain bits are recommended to use on.
18th century piano factories would be filled with fine art so it would inspire the builders to make beautiful pianos. You are your surroundings, if your shop is beautiful, you are more likely to make beautiful projects.
Thanks Charles!
This guy! Mark, he's one smart cookie. The scrap dado trick for locating the matching groove was life altering potentially.
Love the fact that you have the G.I. Joe cartoon playing in the background
Beautiful! I've made a few of your 'Norm' style outfeed tables over the years and this offers a number of new building challenges.
Ah, Soul Patch Mark. Those were good times... This project looks great. I like the fact that it has very few bells and whistles. Only what you need and nothing more. Gives me several good ideas. Thanks for sharing!
Great looking functional piece. You just keep on adding the walnut dressing on shop equipment teaching us new workers techniques needed to get good at this trade. Your shop equipment can be scaled up to be the fine kitchen cabinetry I am in the planning stages to build. The scrap dado trick is priceless, thanks.
Awesome project. I not sure why, but I love watching shop projects more than I do furniture projects. I really love the contrasting woods used in the project.
Now that is a useful outfeed table! I really like the well-thought-out storage space for your sled. I always seem to have mine in the way or tucked just out of reach.
I've always made my outfeed/assembly lower to avoid having to line up the groves. My mind was blown with the concept of just making them a bit larger to than the actual grove. Great tip
I am getting ready to replace my outfeed/assembly/workbench sheet of Baltic birch sitting on an old steel table with a proper all-in-one solution so I have been looking at CZcams for ideas. I watched this video when it was posted, it's hard to believe this is already two years old. This is a very good project, thank you for doing it.
I remember watching your torsion box build... Hard to believe it's that many years ago!
I like to see you, Cremona, and others hone their skills by making great-looking shop furniture. it's inspirational, working in such an environment ... Some day, I hope to do the same!
Today is the day to start. Just do it. Everyone has to start somewhere.
Truly a beautiful job and you explain things without over complicating them. You have encouraged me for years and I've learned so much and I am grateful that you share the gifts you are blessed with. Simplicity is often perfection, all the bells and whistles are too often such a waste of time. Thank you!
I watched one of your videos a long time ago and your the reason I got into woodworking! Love all your videos!
The level of your craftsmanship is amazing!
Mark, you do great work. I made a similar table last fall. One thing I added was a 1" diameter whole in the plywood top (the sheet underneath the melamine). This way when I decide to replace the top sheet, I can poke a large dowel up through the whole and more easily pry up the melamine sheet.
I've been building this and for the most part by the plans. Biggest exception is the fact my saw sits almost 2 full inches taller. So instead of modifying the height of the cabinet I decided to add to the height of the top and build a small torsion box. Its actually working out to plan so I'm waiting on the "oh sh*t" moment. There are a few other things on this I think I would change but all in all I think its an outstanding plan and you have done an outstanding job of helping to push me to do things that were not in my normal safe box. Thank you
Dan
Nice new outfeed /assembly table love the choices of hardware and layout
Love the high end shop furniture. I agree that enjoying your shop furniture is cool! Use all the walnut you can! I'm going to try it. Thanks for sharing the build
Thanks Marc! I built that torsion box assembly table 10 or twelve years ago based on your video. It is still going strong! I love the outfeed assembly table idea, because I do a lot of sanding and assembly on my outfeed table table. I’m looking forward to building this one too. A lot of my shop furniture is based on your designs. Thanks for doing what you do!
That's really awesome to hear. I think if I had more room I'd happy still use a torsion box. But it's becoming harder to justify the space it consumes. This beast really fits the bill nicely.
Looks awesome!! Really like the black melamine, makes those gold tools shine👌
Incredible work on this one, Marc!
I liked this plan so much that I just now bought it. Kudos to you & your design skill set that I am obviously lacking.
The scrap piece with dado is a gold nugget! I slap power strips on everything, and I support your choice of drawer front hardwood... you gotta look at them, you might as well like them.
Thanks for the video.
I always enjoy your shop furniture builds.
Why the heck would anyone give this video a thumbs down? This is a great video.
Thank you for the video, Marc. It offers a lot of great ideas and insight. I do find the furniture a bit fancy for a shop, but then again I've seen the tour to your shop and it is amazing.
Oh my goodness so many memories. Marc, For what it’s worth after I plowed through every woodworks episode by David Marks, I then somehow found your “the jointer is jumpin’ “ episode via iTunes. I’ve been hooked sense. You truly are our community’s beloved pioneer. Not blowing smoke brother just tellin the truth!! I’ve said this before but it’s worth repeating. Thank you.
Aww man! That’s very nice of you to say. Thanks for following along for all these years.
Marc you are an artist and great timing - I was just planning a new outfeed for my shop and was leaning a total different direction but I just purchased your plans - will make a slight mod but love the simplicity and style of this one - nice jo
Thanks so much man. Appreciate the support and good luck with the build.
YEEEES! Awesome! Love that you brought the "reels" back! :D
I love the space balls t-shirt!...”and what does that make us? Nothing, which what you’re about to become!”
Ordered a Harvey TS and ran across your video while searching for ideas for an out feed/assembly table. As usual, very well done. Simple and elegant. Since my shop floor (3-carr garage) slants to the front, I need to be able to keep the table level. I also like the idea of being able to replace the top if needed, but at my age the table will out live me.
I've got a new Harvey table saw too -- built this table to work with my new saw. I used cabinet grade maple ply for the sides and drawer fronts, and red oak for the trim around the top and drawer fronts AND for an extension to the top that accepts dovetail clamps. (Don't have room for a separate quality work bench with vices in my half of a two-car garage.
Cool fact: because the Harvey table saw is 31-1/2 (vice 27) inches deep, I do NOT have to cut any miter slots in the table --- the miter gage is 'thru the cut' as the miter bar reaches the outfeed table!!! So, as long as I don't build a huge crosscut sled with even longer miter bars, the table can remain slot-free.
I've built quite a few shop cabinets on wheels, flip-top tool holders etc, mostly with 3/4 plywood and pocket-hole screws. They are fast, strong, and build quickly. Mark's plan is a bit more involved, but the result is worth the effort. I call it "Garage Furniture".
Wish I could send photos, but don't yet know where to post them in a way that would connect to this thread.
Thanks, Marc.
Totally agree with making attractive shop furniture!
I very much enjoyed your design and build - and particularly liked your summary wrap-up. Indeed, you answered most of my questions in your comments! Thank you!
Putting a shop together so I'll eventually need one of these. Great video!
thank you for the excellent woodwork and video production
Looking good. Also the outfeed table turned out pretty good
Wow, you do REALLY nice work AND your videos are just excellent! Pleasure watching them, thanks!
Great looking out feed table perfect for a a good sized shop..
This is great, thanks for sharing! I also love that you have GI Joe going in the background! :)
Who cares what people say it’s amazing bro nice job you inspired me to finish my basement adding a full wood shop thanks brother
Великолепная работа, как обычно. (Great job! As usually)
I love your videos! I'm in no way a woodworker or maker I just find them relaxing to watch.
Glad you like them!
Lol. I built my current work bench cause of u man. U r awesome
Looks more like fine furniture than a garage cabinet. Nice craftsmanship.
Nice project. I'll take the explanation /voice over any day vs .the cinematic montage that seems to be popular in woodworking videos these days. I must have those stretchy clamps!
Spectacular Mark! Like always!
Beautiful work, dude! The table looks fantastic! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Looks like I’ll have to build a new out feed table now. I built the original outfeed table you made back in the day. Pretty sure that was the first WW video I saw.
Nice out feed table. After watching your video, I’ve decided that’s what I need. The roller extensions just aren’t cutting it. The extra surface would be great! Thanks.
How could ANYONE not like one of your videos
Love the bloopers at the end!
John’s reaction shot pretty much sums up my entire existence
Just for the record, that intro was hilarious. Great build.
Thanks for those great tips in this build.Your table looks awesome and thanks for sharing love your channel.
Love the Jake the Snake cup!
Nice looking cabinet. On the soft close hinge since the doors where small you can turn one off so they will close quicker. And a pro tip on laminate, use a file for cleaning up the edge after routing. I don't miss the miles of laminate done over the years.
Very nice. I might make a narrower version of this since I share my shop with my wife’s Subaru.
Sometimes I watch a video to learn something, but it's tough to watch. Your videos on the other hand are tough *not* to watch because I know I'll learn even more than I expected and laugh a few times too.
Thanks Andy! That’s really kind of you to say. Really appreciate it
Great build, very inspiring... if only I had the space!
Thank you!
You've come a long way since I saw your "A King and his Castle" video when you were first starting out.
This is officially the first piece of furniture I made. Turned out really well, very happy with it!
Great project and video, as always Marc!
Thanks man.
Love your T-shirt! Great project!
You are very precise! Congrats!!
I LOVE your Spaceballs t-shirt!
This outfield table was built better then all of our kitchen cabinets.
Been watching you forever, just great videos! Keep up the good work!
Love it! Thanks Marc!
Very nice. I’m going to be rebuilding mine as soon as i slow down a bit. I like some of your ideas.
I have no idea why i watch this.i am more of a steve ramsey woodworker and would never think of spending 500 on a outfield table but marc is awesome and the skill is incredible.
No need to question it or sell yourself short. If you enjoy watching and you learn something, that should be reason enough. :) Appreciate you checking it out.
@@woodwhisperer i always do.learn alot when you do different stains vs dyes etc.love the podcasts too.
For those soft-close hinges, on light doors, you can disengage the soft close mechanism on one of the two hinges to make them close a little faster.
Awesome all around. Love your videos! thank you.
Beautiful work table, thank you.
Thank you very much!
As of this moment my new shop workbench project just changed to your 3/4" melamine and 3/4" plywood laminate. I will be gluing and screwing though ! Thanks !!
Nice. And you’re right about T-track. I spend more time cleaning them out than using them.
I'm sure some people use them, especially if they use their table as a workbench-type surface. But for me, they'd be a waste. And since I like to draw on this table too, they'd be that annoying place where my pencil punches through the paper, lol.
Hi Marc. My outfeed table is coming along, making all kind of mistakes in learning LOL. I ran across these plates that allow you to remove the casters on the bench in case they are in your way. So I thought I would share in case you did not know.
POWERTEC 71132 Quick-Release Workbench Caster Plates, 4-Pack
POWERTEC 71132 Quick-Release Workbench Caster Plates, 4-Pack
Looks great! Thanks for the video.
Those elastic clamps!!
A straight 2x4! Good one.
Couple of questions, Marc: 1) What would you do if things weren't square after you'd already glued, brad nailed and clamped to hold everything in place? (Bring out the mallet for some tappy-tappy-time?) 2) how "square" is square for a project like this?
Well if it's already done and you can't re-do it, you make it work. Some things NEED to be square and some don't. So if it's just a compartment with a door, you can cut the door to match the opening and no one will be the wiser. But if we're talking about a drawer opening, it can be a serious headache doing an install in an out of square opening. But in the end your false front can usually be cut to hide the flaws.
Me @9:48: "MARC YOUR STOP IS MOVING!"
Me @ 9:51: "oh wait nvm"
Beautiful outfeed table, sorry but the shirt is the real star of the show. One of the best movies ever
Beautiful work!
Thank you very much!
Awesome. Thanks for sharing.
Love the Spaceballs t-shirt
Thanks for sharing that!
thanks for the video, got some ideas for my work.
Dark Helmet: I am your father’s brother’s nephew’s cousin’s former roommate.
Lone Star: So what does that make us?
Dark Helmet: Absolutely nothing!
I was about to say your shirt means absolutely nothing.
Dig the Spaceballs shirt! As for the "unnecessary" walnut, all the reason you need is "Because I wanted Walnut". That said, you and Drew over at Fisher's Shop should chat ;) (Just don't start adding slotted screws!)
I came for the information, I liked and subscribed because of the spaceballs shirt!
6:55 hoochie and a hoochie, now hoochie and we're hoochie goochie. 🤣🤣🤣
Great job Marc
Thanks Dave.
Just started this build and I'm mad at the edge banding method. Took this build on to try new methods, but i sure do hate hardwood edge banding. I think i started getting a hang of how much support my router needed by the time i was on my last panel.
Love the spaceballs shirt
Really nice work.
Yes sir I do the same making my shop furnishings as nice as I can for the same reasons
Awesome work table
Nice cup Jake the Snake!
