      The pressure on him during those Games was tremendous- Whitewash by SouthAfrica, verge of being Fired for good by WICB, all out for 51 in the 1st Test in Trinidad (which was shameful & on all newspapers frontpage in trinidad & Caribbean), with a weakened inconsistent side and a Hostile Jamaica crowd initially!

    How can Aussies forgot DRAVID'S match winning double century in Adelaide....
    He singly handedly wins the match for INDIA.
    I think the reason is pointing also hit hundred in same match & same innings.

    • @umangvarshney1
      @umangvarshney1 Před 4 lety +10

      Not single handedly. Agarkar's spell of 6-41 sprouted a chance of victory from a possible dull draw. Dravid of course played the anchor, and he was ably supported by Laxman (178) in 1st innings; however Australia lacked the services of its best bowlers, viz. Mcgrath, Warne, Lee in that game; hence it is overlooked among the best knocks in Australia. Even though, it can certainly be said that it was better than Sachin's knock of 241 at SCG (maybe not technically) given the impact it had on the outcome of the game.

    I think broadcasters should release uncut version of Sachin’s 241 against Australia at Sydney . It was a masteclass of self discipline . He said in press conferences a night before the start of that test match that he is not going to play cover drive and the amount of juicy full toss , half volley , hit me balls he left outside the off stump was just mind boggling . I watched that test live and I was angry that why he is leaving those balls that his strong area the cover drive , Blackfoot punch , cut shot but he didn’t play those shots . It was a display of self control, self discipline at the highest order . For me this century was the best century I have ever seen in my life . I am a spiritual person and I know how hard it is to control yourself , to control you muscle memory for that long time in front of thousands of spectators .

    1. Lara actually deserved to be in that legendary West Indian side of 70's & 80's. With the least support from his fellow mates, he literally had that ability to tear apart the opponent what if He had got some support? Even if you consider the weight of runs, Lara is slightly ahead of Tendulkar.
    2. Adam Gilchrist, the sportsman who changed the outlook of wicket keeper batsman in cricket. Steve Waugh once said ' The most valuable player that he had in that invincible Australian team was Adam'

    • @TheMaverickanupam
      @TheMaverickanupam Před 4 lety +5

      I think the reason Tendulkar is slightly ahead of Lara is because of all the pressure he had. I mean Tendulkar got three MOM awards against Pakistan in 5 world cups and smashed Wasim, Waqar and Akthar. Plus, Tendulkar made India world champions with his performance as well. People forget how much pressure Tendulkar had to win every single game. Lara had no such pressure and that's why he could play freely. In 2003, Tendulkar failed in only one innings due to the formidable total in the final and India lost. Had Akthar got Tendulkar early India would have lost that game as well. If Tendulkar didn't have to win every game on his own he could have remained a swashbuckler, but he always batted with maturity. That's why he is ahead of Lara. Lara played cricket, Tendulkar carried the hopes of a nation and came out on top a lot. And people conveniently forget Windies had Walsh and Ambrose and then other quickies though not top grade but still better than Indian bowlers Tendulkar played alongside.
