Disagree about Ponting's commentary. Too much ego in his commentary for starters. He commentates like he's still captain. Warney was the best commentator. No ego in his commentary. He was pro Oz all the way but he gave kudos to the opposition all the time. His technical knowledge was fantastic. Would often predict wickets before they happened and his stories were second to none when the cricket was going nowhere. Great on and off the pitch! RIP Warney.

I think West Indies were better. They didn't lose a test series for 15 years.
The only 2 test series they lost in 19 years, 1 test match by 1 wicket v New Zealand. The New Zealand umpiring was poor and Viv didn't play this series. They lost 1 test match v India, in 1978. Kallicharran, Sylvester Clarke and, Marshall's first test series, played this series. The other West Indian regular players were playing Packer cricket.
Marshall, Holding, Roberts, Garner, Croft, Ambrose, Walsh, Bishop, Patterson, Daniel, Clarke for West Indies. There are others like Tony Gray, Ezra Moseley.
McGrath, Lee, Gillespie, Fleming, Kasprowicz, and Reiffel for Australia.
Greenidge, Fredericks, Haynes, Viv, Rowe, Lloyd, Richardson, and Kallicharran in batting.
Hayden, Langer, Ponting, Steve Waugh, Mark Waugh, Martyn, and Michael Clarke for Australia.
      The batting is similar.
Dujon was a better wicketkeeper than Gilchrist. Gilchrist was a better wicketkeeper batsman.
Warne is one of the best legspinners of all-time.
West Indies have the best fast bowling of all-time. 6:36

Sangakkara at 7 doesn’t make sense. It’s Gilchrist at 7. Sanga is perhaps one of the best no 3 of his era. same with viv he is a no 3. Jacque doesn’t open either. Tendulkar at 6 doesn’t work either he is no 4.

    That Australian team was legendary.
Adam Gilchrist, Mathew Hayden, Ricky Ponting, Damien Martin, Mike Hussey, Andrew Symonds, Brad Hogg, Lehmann, Shane Warne, Glen McGrath and Brett Lee.
It is one of the strongest lineup of cricket team ever. From batting to bowling order, all were stacked.

Pointing is real class as compared to others like Lara Sachin inzemam Yousaf etc, always ahead in
terms of strike rate which is really supported for team performance.

He was the perfect number 3 batsmen. Could naturally score quick and stop the other team gaining momentum even if the first wicket fell in the first over of the match. Was consistent too. Probably gave teams more fear than Tendulkar in the sense that he could win the game with one knock, whilst Tendulkar was scarier in that he was more consistent, but perhaps slower and never as much a game winner as Ponting.

Mr McGrath was really something else, I just used to hope Brian Lara could be their for 45mins to get the feel of it? Otherwise 😢, he destroyed us the West Indies, and Mr Ricky Ponting was a terror with the bat, if you don't get him early like Lara 😢, we were doom, but I enjoyed watching all these legendary players of that Era.

The Sky sports cricket commentary team is absolutely brilliant to listen to, all very knowledgeable and passionate about the game, there is no comparison to the BBC coverage which is very amateurish. I used to dislike Ponting but he's really ok!!! Very entertaining, good stuff!!!
