- With Matthew Hayden as an opening batsman and featuring the likes of Brian Lara and Curtly Ambrose, former Australia captain Ricky Ponting discusses his all time cricketing XI.
The criteria for selection is players they have played with, against or have been influenced by.

He picked 5 Australians still team is looking unbiased and Perfect.. Ricky Ponting was the luckiest to be the captian of the team where each and every player was a legend in his own way...
even dhoni was also lucky . gambhir ,yuvi, zaheer, bhajji, sachin, dravid, laxman ,sehwag were all legends
There is no way Justin Langer deserves a place there
@@sachinkonnur6697 yeah if it has to be an Australian then Ricky Ponting should've named himself😂😂 he is way better than justin langer

Your XI says how great are you as a captain. Masterclass picking XI
Now that's a comment - the ability to put together a team
World all time greatest Captain Ricky chose Sanga for his dream team captain. Respect you sir. You are always my favorite. Ricky forever
Yes and he is greatest cheater as well 😂
@@fitnessshorts1496 When did he cheat mate ?
@@fitnessshorts1496 if you are going to brand a person a cheater then give examples - if you can't then better to keep your mouth shut. If you are going to call out australian cheating then you should first acknowledge all the cheating that indian players have participated in ( I'm assuming you're from india, if you're not I'm sorry )

Kumar sangakkara as a Captain 😍👍
Sangakkara is criminally underrated. Definitely top 10 All time best batsmen. Could play in all conditions and all formats, against any opposition. Class player. And an excellent wicketkeeper. Would for sure be in my All time 11
Agreed. Sangakkara and Kallis were two very underrated players. As much as I dislike Ponting, he has picked a very good team. Only player I'd question was Langer. I don't rate him that highly.
Agreed on all said so far. I wouldn’t have longer or Hayden opening, I’d rather have smith and sehwag.
Andrew Machado agreed with sangrakkara but not with kallis. Yeah kallis is not celebrated like sachin on media but you can see every player puts him on the list.
@@pramesh.gurung I feel Kallis is fairly underrated by the general cricket fan. The players obviously know who are the best. Kallis is the most complete all rounder in the purest formats of the game. Yet, he doesn't quite get the hype that many other players in his era got. That's what I'm on about.
@@AlexBrown-xp7mt I agree with that although I disagree with what you said about Hayden. He must feature in that lineup because I can't think of any better opener than him. Langer is questionable because the two openers you mentioned were definitely better. I'd pick any of those over Langer.

I'd go with Ricky Ponting instead of Langer.

Great pace attack. McGrath with swing and bounce, Akram with reverse swing and deadly bouncers and quick deliveries by Ambrose and also Kallis.
Mcgrath not a swing bowler he was a seam bowler
Too many left handed batsmen. He should have put himself instead of Sangakkara or Gilchrist. Why do you need two wk?
McGrath was seam and pin point line and length. He was like a bowling machine.
When the team has so many legends no one looks beautiful

Of course in cricket after Tendulkar he is the greatest of all times
Kallis was the greatest of all time. Tendulkar played a lot younger so his records won't be beaten. He was just a batsman.
Jacques batting records were enough per innings but he could bowl too.
No better test player you'd want on your team. By a long mile. Check his records and innings versus Sachin's. Then add his bowling average to that. C'mon.

My reasoning is that Brian Lara and Sachin Tendulkar are solid batsmen who have experience as openers. I would have both Sobers and Kallis to supplement the pace attack. Warne and Murali for spin with Sobers also using his ability as a spinner. My team has seven solid batsmen who could win a match single handedly and six specialist bowlers, two of whom are all-rounders.

Hayden and Langer selections are heavily prejudiced in favor of Aus. Otherwise, the list looks OK.
Hayden is undoubtedly one of greatest openers ever. Add Graeme Smith or Sehwag instead of Langer.
Honestly, name a greater opening combination in the history of cricket. I sincerely can't.
I think he went for the best opening pair of his generation, and one of the most successful opening pair to ever play the game, so it's a fair selection in my opinion.
Matthew Wilkins Not claiming these are necessarily better, but certainly in the same league: Greenidge/Haynes, Hobbs/Sutcliffe, Gambhir/Sehwag, McKenzie/Smith, Lawry/Simpson.
But as Punter is picking only from his era, not all-time, it makes sense. Not convinced Langer is better than Smith or Sehwag though. Hayden definitely.
@@andrewgriffiths9214 Yeah, those are very good partnerships! I'm thinking in terms of dominance and success, there's no greater partnership

Wasim Akram(PAK)
Shane Warne(AUS)

you probs haven't even seen Bradman bat lmao
Highly overrated team 😂
Love this team
swap Imran Khan for glenn McGrath and I agree
Ricky was a great batsman , with no sportsman spirit...
Not a lot of sport,a ship but one of Australia's most successful captains
Prashant Namdeo Worlds most successful captain ever
Steve waugh is best than Ponting
SIJO C PAUL Lol !!! Steve waugh used up Mark Taylor's resources. He didn't add much to Aus future in his short span of captaincy
S Waugh contributed Ponting and hayden to Ausies team
Waugh and tailor were played almost same time
What a team selection ponting sir 😍😍this team is so perfect definitely 100/100 mark for the selection.Really this team is Dream 11
You are not picking all time test xi , you are picking your time test xi
Warne is every where
Everyone has forgotten the one the finnest player ever - Sunil Gavaskar.
Yeah...i would keep him as opener instead of Langer. Rest of the squad seems perfect
sanje manjrekar has him in his team
My changes in the team would be:
1. Hashim Amla for Langer - will be a better right hand batsmen along with left handed Hayden and can play in all conditions.
2. Steven Smith for Lara - Because of his consistency in test with an average of 60+ and can score in any conditions.
3. AB De Villiers for Sangakkara - Attacking batsmen with an excellent defensive technique who have played some impactful test innings such as 43 runs of 297 balls against India at Delhi test. Moreover, he have played similar innings of 33 runs of 220 balls against Australia at Adelaide that have ended up in a draw.
4. Dale Steyn for Curtly Ambrose - Steyn has the best strike rate in the history of test cricket.
There can be made another all time best 11 excluding all this 11 players Ponting chose like:
1. Alaister Cook
2. Sir Vivian Richards
3. Sir Gary Sobers
4. Sir Don Bradman
5. Kapil Dev
6. MS Dhoni
7. Imran Khan
8. Anil Kumble
9. Waqar Younis
10. Muralitharan
11. Jimmy Anderson
& still many more legends are left like Rahul Dravid, Jayasuriya, Jayawardane, Gayle, AB de Villiers, Dale Steyn, etc.....
*Also Ricky Ponting is one of the best players of all time and arguably greatest captain in cricket history if not MSD.*

Where is legend imam ul haq😂
@@mathsforcgl7742 wow
best team
You missed Ashok dinda 😂😂🤣🤣🤣
If one is playing Sangakara at no.6, he can easily keep wickets too. No point in having Adam Gilchrist. Much rather, one can opt for an all rounder at no.7. Someone like Chrish Cairns or Andrew Flintoff, who were so good with both the bat n ball, and also good on field.
Why we don't have great fast bowlers now like Ambrose-walsh,McGrath-lee, waqar-wasim .. as a teenager i feel bad that i didn't got chance to watch these legends
