- Bad news...the 2010 Nissan Rogue left my wife STRANDED AGAIN at 240k miles.
The first "stranded" episode was when the CVT blew up at 185k miles:
• Nissan CVT Failure Dia...
I was out of town when this happened, but luckily my friend Keith DeFazio of New Level Auto was in the area for work, and came to the rescue to get the Nissan moved off the road and towed back to home base.

Amanda is too cool. She should be on the channel more often.
and a great job explaining it.
Or we could have her do the repair videos while he holds the dog. ;)
To say that Ivan has a keeper is the understatement of all time but he knows that. Now we do too.
Hopefully not 😂
She should get together with Mrs O.
Amanda is such a good sport. And thanks to Keith for the rescue. Plus no parts required.
MAF is now known as Mouse air flow. I had a similar problem on my Chevy g20 van when mice made a nest in the air cleaner housing. I learned to put metal screening at the opening of the intakes especially on any vehicles that sit for long periods of time during the winter.
Rodents strike again! Maybe she should just ride the horses when you're out of town. Much more reliable!
haha that's a good plan! That's why the Amish stick to horse and buggy :)
[puts on best Jeremy Clarkson impression] This week on PHAD Ivan shoes a horse - the Russian way.
Now that’s real horse power!
EH, you can always throw a shoe and get a lame ride.
At least the "MOMMY" didn't end up in the "CAT-alytic" Converter.....
Ivan, now stop it! Not only do you have ALL the diagnostic skills - can fix anything - can speak fluent Russian, but you also have a lovely and beautiful wife. She has IT! You are one lucky man, Ivan. I envy you. I'm sure I speak for the masses. Really enjoyed this video - your wife is the reason. Ms. Amanda made this vlog. Thanks Ivan.
And Keith shows up! Keith! That's a bit like Mr Wolf showing up in Pulp Fiction. You know your troubles are over.
Mr. Wolf shows up, and shows them how to clean up the mess they made. Don't know what we would've done without him. Of course those two guys have the IQ of rock salt
That's a great reference. We need to start calling Keith Mr. Wolf. I met Keith in Chicago at Automechanika and he's the real deal. Don't know about the Kangoo hats he always wears but that man is truly dedicated to the trade. Not only is he razor sharp he's funny as hell too.
"That mountain is 30 minutes away... I'll be there in ten" 🚗💨
Just be happy you have such a cheerful and beautiful wife!
Your wife's really smart how she catches onto that stuff so quick.
So funny how they both totally ignore the dog trying to dig a hole in the seat.
No they saw lol
The dog was upset it didn't have a tiny version of the headlamp Ivan wears.
She was looking for mice.
Ivan, you did use one part the Air filter, But I noticed that Amanda's dog was clawing at the passenger seat.. it may be nothing, but there may be another mouse inside the car's compartment.. I'd keep an eye out for any signs of a mouse. Under or inside the seat!
Phil our dogs do this too when they lay down somewhere it’s called “fluffing” lol I was laughing when she was doing it lol
Another shop: you need an O2 sensor and a new catalytic converter. That'll be $1200
Don't forget to let them top of the blinker fluid and re-greasing the muffler bearing while they are at it!
Plus never mention the rodent problem....or seal off the entrance with mesh to prevent another squatter invasion!!
Wow, Amanda is amazing, maintaining her composure during a very trying turn of events, it's surprising how fast mice set up shop
Your wife is adorable! So glad she’s ok and the car didn’t really let her down…..rodents did.
Pp
she does look awesome for her age
Pretty amazing, to have somebody as qualified as Keith on speed dial.
I have the telecomm version of Keith on speed dial, my boss. Dude moved into field management from being a tech, but he is absolutely the most knowledgeable guy I've ever worked with or for. Having someone like that you can lean on is one of the best things ever.
You guys are adorable together! This really cheered me up after going through a tough day 🙂
The dog was scratching the seat because it detected mice. Terrier is smart. Thanks for the video.
All she detected was a comfy location for a nap hahaha
Her smile is genuine and Infectious.
The best kind!
Lucky you Ivan, "Happy Wife, Happy Life".
Found chipmunks in mine. In their nest was 7 one dollar bills and 2 fives. Their life savings, I guess.
When she was seeing the modules get scanned oh no my brakes lol made me laugh
That was wild! You may need a cat. Lol
It’s surprising a daily driver would have a nest like that in the air cleaner.
unfortunately, only takes one night for them to move in.
@@PandaMan02 Yes, I had a mouse that built a home in my glove compartment in one day. Luckily I had napkins in there to make a nest so he didn't rip apart my checkbook. I put a glue trap on the floor with some peanut butter in the middle and caught him in an hour.
@@William1866 I have had several mice incidents in my various cars over the years. I've tried glue traps and everything to varying degrees if success.
The easiest and cleanest way to deal with a suspected rodent is to set a regular ordinary spring loaded trap inside a McDonald's quarter pounder box with one bite left in it. Don't even bother baiting the trap itself, there is no need. Place that inside the sack and then on the passenger floor board or seat over night.
When thr trap springs, it will open the quarter pounder box so you don't have to, because the rodent would have chewed a small hole in it to get in and then be confined, it almost always gets them, and because it is already in a container inside a bag, it is already in an easily disposed of no touch bag. Just look for holes in it to see if the mouse went after it.
I believe it already has a cat in the middle of the exhaust system, it’s just that it couldn’t reach the mouse...🐭
Everytime I hear CVT my left eye twitches 🧐
HAHAHA! That's a great anxiety-producing transmission ...
reprogram them to drop the fixed ratios and they last much longer. American CVTs have this at the insistence of car reviewers who'd pan the vehicles if they didn't behave like traditional slushboxes. European/Japanese CVTs don't have the fixed ratios and last pretty well
What an entertaining clip!! My wife watches the car videos with me and thought this was the best with you and your wife working on the car together! 4 thumbs up!!!!👍
Glad you both enjoyed it! Was a fun little diag 😄
Dave, that's such a kind thing to say. We really appreciate you watching :)
Your wife is like sunshine, you are a lucky man Ivan! She is so understanding, I would be on the couch for a month if my wife's car failed for any reason. Rodents are amazing how they seem to love wiring insulation, air boxes, and tailpipes. It seems your terrier is hounding a mouse in the passenger seat, oh my....Great fix with only a new air filter.
My dad had a ‘90 Oldsmobile that wouldn’t start one morning. He removed the air cleaner top and the entire area around the air filter element was full of acorns, he had driven the car the day before.
it was likely all there long term and very plugged with vibration breaking it down into powder, which then with very high humidity or moisture from driving in rain/highway mist wetting made it solidify when dried overnight.
been there done that! lol
The good Dr looks pretty comfortable with scanner. Watch out Ivan😜
The commercial that just popped up in the middle of this video was… wait for it… for the new Nissan Rogue - you can’t make this stuff up 😂
I believe it! By the way, did they do away with the CVT? I know they did on the Pathfinder.
Great video Ivan! Always fun to teach the lady especially when they’re engaged and actually listening! Glad to see you three safe and well brother!
Ivan please sell that Nissan while used car prices are high.
Call it a RPD.. Rodent Protection Device. Will sell millions.
Really great especially with the personal touch as this issue happened right at home! Nothing better than seeing this sort of thing happening to your own cars. Shows no one is immune to issues.
Excellent description of the fault and symptoms, and diagnostic tests by your lovely wife, great help to all technicians.
Stay safe all, thanks for sharing.
Great video Ivan. That was amazing that Keith was in the area. He saved the day. You your wife and the pooch stay safe and well Artie 😊
Great video! Your wife is a good sport! She has an infectious laugh.
Mrs Ivan is so cool, the 2 of you are fun to watch interact. I did not expect to see a mouse nest. Glad to see everything is fixed.
Your wife seems like the coolest girl ever. Blessings to both of you during this holiday season. Thank you for sharing your skills, your lives, and life with us. I learn something new from everyone of your vids.
I also have a Nissan but don't have any problems just jet, but good to know the ins and out regarding repairs.Thank you for shearing. One last thing.. When you're smiling the whole world smiles with you. good job ,God Bless ya all.
Nice video Ivan. Amanda seems wonderful, & you 2 seem good together. Real good to see you involving her in the solution & she's a good sport! Your little puppy dog is adorable.
I think Amanda is the new “STAR” of Pine Hollow Auto Diagnostics.
So cool Ivan to have your wife involved in your channel!
Its simply amazing Keith was there like that. Nice to see your wife in another video Ivan, best wishes to your whole fam
Ivan nice to finally meet your better half! Nice video as always.
Good job Ivan and Keith! Amanda's faith in techs is restored!
This was the best bubbly diagnosis I’ve ever seen! Lol. Still gonna do the lil surgey surge, but it’s all good!
Making the Mrs. happy ....PRICELESS .... because if Mommas not happy ain't nobody happy... Amanda you rock ! Great video Ivan .
Good stuff Ivan. Great teacher as always too.
Wow! Can I say that Mrs. Ivan is WOWWW! We would definitely want to see more of her more often.
Really cool video Ivan! Nice to see Amanda in the video with you!
How lucky can you get with Keith being in the area when you need him! That's incredible!
I was looking at some of your older videos and this is the first one I’ve seen with your wife in it, what a happy and pleasant woman! You both married well!
Keith is an amazing tech in his own right , nice to see Amanda make an appearance again great video Ivan !
You guys work so well together
THAT was amazing! I've seen nests, but not like that one! Showing your wife how to operate the diagnostic tool AND having her utilize it.......PRICELESS!
Doing the Happy Dance after a much appreciated easy fix! I know Amanda had a good time fixing her own car! With such a great instructor, she's in good hands!! Well done! 👏👏👏
What a little sweetheart she is take care of her Ivan enjoyed the content very much
'Quien tiene una buena esposa, tiene el bien". Congrats for you guys and for helping us !
Oh my goodness! Poor Amanda! That's a heck of a situation. I'm only in the 1st couple mins....
She's so cute! Lol. Glad to see it was something silly & cheap. I can understand how she feels not trusting her vehicle so much.
Wow, ivan! That was great treat to see your pretty lady in the video! Glad to see she got some hands on the diag! Even holding the mummified mouse! Wow, bravo, Amanda lol!! Glad to see Me, Rogers up and running! So so glad Keith came along and got her in safe spot and figure out the problem!! You have the power, ivan lol!!! Kudos to you hashing a friend, like Keith to be there! Great awesome video to watch her putting clean filter in! Love it
awesome man! She's a trooper! I heard a low flying Cessna or Piper in the background. Airport or airstrip must be close by.
Cheers from Louisiana.
Loved the bit where you two are doing the scanner and at the same time the dog is ripping up your upholstery for all she's worth!
Pleasure to meet you, Amanda - what a great video. I love how you kept your professionalism while your dog clawed up the passenger seat LMAO. Best wishes from London. 😊🚗🐶
By the way the dog was dinging you may have another critter in there
Beautiful, Intelligent and Classy! Nice job Ivan!!
Really good video! Good to see an older MPV, they were a darn good old vehicle.
Proud of your wife man very calm good team fix her car brother take care thanks for sharing knowledge
Amanda is very resourceful despite having a stalled vehicle. Glad Keith was in the area. Great explanation by Amanda though. Great vid thanks for sharing.
Great video. I had a ranger with the same problem ( start/stall ). It had a big nest in the air box.
Reminds me of a song by the late Rich Mullins.....
'Now the plumber's got a drip in his spigot
The mechanic's got a clank in his car..... '
Great video Ivan!
Great vid bro. Good to see you and the "boss" doing a vid together. Great success to u both....
Great videos as always. Some 1/4 or 3/8s farmers cloth/wire mesh, with a big zip tie, will do the trick.
You have a very capable and rational lady able to cope with challenges .
Amanda was a cool addition in fixing her own vehicle. Good job guys! I enjoyed the video very much.
What a beautiful wife dude...
Take care of her man..
She has a great personality....
Keep the videos going..
Your wife’s cool Ivan she picks up the dead mouse. 👍 🐁 my wife would of run in the house never to be seen again until the mouse was gone. Good job on training the wife to fix her own car
My wife would ask me to sell the place and move out of the town.
Totally laughed out loud about low gas
always love the bonus footage
Nice to see her involved & willing to learn.
Nice Eric O. South Main Auto reference. "There's your problem lady!"
Dude, you got an amazing lady who hasn’t questioned when the regular maintenance was last performed. Both of you were sympathetic to the loss of life, a great couple!
When Ivan is away, the mice will play… literally. Lol. Great video; Amanda is a natural in front of the camera.
Wow, when I first started watching, I thought a rodent chewed the wiring. Never imagined a rodent went in the air intake, through the air filter and the MAF. Thanks for the video. Learn something new everyday.
What a great video , thanks for sharing. Nice wife ! Congrats . She is a keeper.
Thanks! This was fun.
Your video with your wife was great. Glad there was nothing else wrong.
Critters, critters, critters. Amanda you are a gem. Ivan, you are the best.
Ivan... you two are great together.
Oh No wife stranded!! you were in trouble. Glad she was safe. Nice to see you wife and specially using your tools, it since to me she understand how to navigate the scanner Ivan you are in trouble hahaha. Nice video good troubleshooting. Great video stay safe and healthy. Thanks 😊
You guys are so sweet together!!! You should do more with her like this!
She was a bit shy at first but it was really fun!
Yes, i agree, just not with her broke down, i might get an appointment to bring my Cadillac up there for a left rear door module communication issue i have been chasing for a while now, maybe Ivan can show her bidirectional features on a scan tool, ill even volunteer him using my Launch x431 pro, lol
Happy to see another Mazda MPV still on the road!
Looks like ee found your own Vanna White! She did great. Hard to believe that 2010 Rogue has that many miles....👏👏👏👏
Ivan and Amanda...
Eric and Vanessa...
Audiences LOVE IT!
Amanda , Your laugh is contagious ! You should be Ivan's You Tube Assistant ! Great work
Keith is a great guy. Love watching his videos too
1. I wish everyone could be so descriptive in explaining problems.
2. Another great video.
3. You guys make a cute couple. :)
Nice,Ivan I think you can use K&N washable filter it has a protective metal net installed maybe it helps
Mr. Jinks, ''I hate meeces to pieces''. Particularly when they clog the intake.
even more pieces if they go down the intake....
Boy I wish I could trick my wife into doing most of the work! Ivan, you need to give a seminar!!!
Cars always break down in desolate mountainous areas with no place to pull off. Boats break down in the middle of shipping lanes or at the mouth of an inlet. Never fails.
or perhaps blocking a massive canal short cut...
Break down on bridges, too!
Or in the middle of a desert 🌵
@@knocksensor3203 or when entering a harbour in a storm with a nasty reef nearby and 400+ passengers onboard
she acted squeamish, then flat out picked up the mummified mouse corpse. she must be a farm girl :)
I want more doggo footage! Pup reminds me of our Silky Terrier who loved our family like crazy for all 17 of his years!
